Rating: Summary: Asus Deluxe Motherboard Review: The description for this motherboard has no detail, so I'll add some.
I purchased this motherboard along with a CPU (AMD64 3000+), memory (Kingston PC3200 1GB kit), and graphics card (ATI 9600 XT) as a system upgrade.
All of the parts arrived in good order. In less than three hours, I had a fully operational system with Windows XP Professional installed.
Motherboard Features:
AMD Socket 754 with AMD Cool 'n' Quiet
up to 3GB memory (Limited to 2GB with PC3200)
Support for six SATA drives (two controllers)
one controller support two drives (RAID 0, 1, 1+0)
the second controller support four drives (RAID 0, 1, 1+0, and 5, and JBOD)
ALC850 8 channel audio with SP/DIF
AGP slot (1.5v only)
Gigabit Ethernet
Firewire
Eight USB 2.0
Five PCI slots
The motherboard comes with all of the IDE and SATA cables; PCI headers for additional USB, Game port, and Firewire; a CD with device drives and utilities. The included directions are OK, but could be better. The 20-pin Case header is colored coded for easier installation.
After installing the utility, the AMD Cool 'n' Quiet works as advertised. When idling, the computer is almost silent.
I am pleased with this motherboard and the ease of installation, but have not tested the SATA RAID features.
