Summary: Truely Amazing
Review: Very easy to use. Buttons are easy to push and are displayed in a very logical way, although the remote feels a little small, but still very easy to use. I've used this so many times to record live performances and each time the recordings come out very well and even the bass is clear on the recordings. I've had this MD recorder for a couple years and have had no problems with it whatsoever. Battery life is also really good and playback quality is very clear.

Review: well first of all, i'm a md maniac. i've used this sharp 821 as well as the 831, sharp st-531,st-55, st-50, sony r-90,e-90,e-77,e-75, e-44(now i use sharp 831 recorder and pioneer mdp mickey mouse version(cloning of sharp 531) md player.) as i remember, this 821 is a great recorder compared to the new 831. the 831 may be smaller and have more options on the interface, but the 821 has its own goods; such as its affordable price, bigger and simple jog dials compared to the 831.. i'd recommend the 821 for the first time users of the md.

With the same dimension, though costs more, you will get three times batery lifetime (12:4 hours). It feels solid in your hand. No whatsoever skip ever experienced. This one is a must-have. By the way, the unit has the 2nd best ATRAC chip of all MD recorders. It is only topped by MT831. ... Happy buying.
