Rating: Summary: don't believe everything you read Review: Before purchasing this product I wanted to read the reviews from other customers. One that concerned me was one that the product fell apart and they were not able to have it repaired. I contacted Casio and found out that it is highly unusal that the problem would not have been handled. They also mentioned that the product was not available last Christmas and had only been released in the US market in May of 2000. I think the Casio Minidisc player is the best for the money I have seen. I have also had several other Casio products and have never been disapointed in the performance for the price. This has also held true so far with the Minidisc player.

Rating: Summary: not problem free Review: I bought 2 for my kids last Christmas and both units have had screws fall out so that the doors no longer operate. I sent them back to Casio for repair and they did not repair them, claiming the problem was neglect. I cannot find the tiny screws anywhere and therefore they are useless.
Rating: Summary: Best buy! Review: I bought this product last Christmas and it hasn't broken or skipped since then. This MD player has all the essentials plus more. It comes with headphones, a recharable battery, and the recharger. Don't think this product is poor quality because it is cheaply priced, it's a great buy for only ....
Rating: Summary: Dismal Failure/POOR Quality Review: I did buy this Nov 24, 2000 (I have the receipt) as a gift for my son. Almost immediately it began skipping, ignoring tracks, or not playing entire discs. I found that some low-end minidiscs (such as Hi-Space) will not play on these low-end players [see alt.audio.minidisc]. I did, however contact Casio and they quite cordially gave me all the information to send it in under warranty. Haven't got it back yet, but we'll see how it acts upon it's return. Just be aware that there are known problems with this and other low-end units [see xxx for complete write-ups and comparisons]
Rating: Summary: get the extended waranty with any minidisc player Review: i don't own this particular brand or model of mini disc player but i have had a competitors model for 10 months. my only advice: BUY AN EXTENDED WARANTY- the best one you can get. These are finicky gadgets that are prone to break. mine (a sharp MD15) worked great right up to the time it quit, and was then replaced under an extended waranty (thank goodness). i would not buy one unless u can get an extended waranty. Note: i have never before bought of had to use an extended waranty on anything else, but these gadgets are more delicate. they are a LOT of fun.
Rating: Summary: Bad Player Review: I purchased one of these, looking for a player only to keep in my car. I found that it often wouldn't even read a disc, and skipped a lot. I was unable to nordic ski without it skipping on me. It also had a very very short battery life. I may have just received a lemon, but compared to my Sharp portable this one was horrible. It's worth an extra $30-40 for a better player.
Rating: Summary: Small Price for Convenience Review: I was thinking of buying a second battery for my Aiwa MD recorder. It ran $60 or so, with shipping. I bought this unit for $99, and simply use rechargeables or an AA alkaline. Having a recorder and a player means the MD disks are a little more useful. Having a unit with a standard battery is easier for travel. Why lug the AC adapter or, worse, forget it?The unit has good sound. I play it through a set of speakers and a sub-woofer. The remote is not terribly impressive, but it works. I'm not sure why you have to use the remote, but you do. This unit isn't that much bigger than a memory based MP3 player. You can carry a few disks around. If you have a toslink CD player, the MD disks are effortless to make, though this unit is NOT a recorder. But overall, MD seems like a nice format and when you make digital to digital transfers, all you have to do is program the tracks and start both machines. If you buy a new CD, you can record all the tracks and remove the ones you don't like.
Rating: Summary: First time minidisc buyers, dont get this Review: If you never got a minidisc thing before dont get this! it is just a PLAYER, NOT a recorder. get a player/recorder.
