Rating: Summary: Versatile little gizmo Review: I was looking around for a portable MD recorder/player to replace my old analog walkman and settled on the Sharp, and I haven't regretted it. I love the slot-loading design and the battery life, while at times sporadic fills my needs. As a digital music enthusiast, I also own a DAT recorder and cd burner the MD fills in a hole in my collection. I can now record music digitally to DAT in the field, burn it to CD to listen to on my stereo, and then make a digital copy on MD to listen to on the road or working out, or just around town. The unit is nice and small, which makes it great when working out, or in the car. The sound is fine for my needs, yes, it does compress the audio, but i'm using the MD for high performance listening. The supplied headphones are decent, though nothing to write home about. The unit is easy to use, and you don't even really need the manual to figure it out. I've done some field recording with the Sharp, and it handled it like a pro, all in all I'd say this is one of the finest MD units on the market today, and that MD is one of the most promising formats on the market today, by all means, buy one. :)
Rating: Summary: Extremly Pleased Review: Thankyou amazon.com. I purchased this minidisc player recently and i must say that i am extremly pleased with it's performance. I was surprised at the compact size for it's vast features, but it proves to be very functional and easy to conceal. The controls are simple to use once you play around with it for a while and are quite useful in thier every aspect. I love the remote because it allows me to put the player in my backpack and operarte all it's play functions without having to pull it out constantly. I am also very pleased with the speedy delivery of my player, even by ups ground i got it in two days of ordering it. All in all i must say that this has to be one of the best, and most useful, value for money products that i have bought all year. If you are questioning the purchase, let me encorage you to consider this player seriously, it has brought me nothing but pleasure thus far.
Rating: Summary: well... Review: all in all the 722 is a great product and would have gotten five stars if not for a few minor details: 1:you can combine tracks but you can't divide them or undo you last edit 2:the cables that you get with it won't fullfill all of your needs the composite cable has scratchy sound while the digital opic cable had great sound but it couldn't connect to either of my computers or any stereos so you have to get yourself a third cable 3:other people said in their reviews that the directions were a little sketchy but they were only minutly bad 4:unless you don't have pockets you almost deffinitly won't use the hands strap but it's just nice to have 5:when your first getting used to the remote controle you might want to put hold on unless your activley pushing buttons because the buttons are right where you would hold it all aside it's a great product and is worth the money
Rating: Summary: Nevermind MP3's!!! Buy THIS ONE!!! Review: This is the perfect product for those of you looking for a portable recordable audio player but are shocked at the high prices and low memory size of MP3 players. With the new USB to digital optical products out on the market, it has become very easy to digitally transfer your MP3's to minidisc at a low-cost, without having to worry about a loss of quality. The Sharp also has a great analog sound as well. Although I have graduated to the much higher cost Sony MD-90, this was my first, and to tell you the truth they perform almost as well. The final reason fof purchasing this machine over an MP3 player is that for the price of 1 Sony MagicGate 64MB Memory Card (holding an hour of music), you can get 60 Multi-recordable Minidiscs (holding close to 70 hours of music) Need I say more?
Rating: Summary: Thought about an mp3 player, glad I got this instead Review: I was looking into a new music player and was thinking about anmp3 player. They are pretty popular in America right now and it made some sense, easy way to get music. But I decided I better play the field and look at all the options. The more I looked into it the more appealling the MD player became. It just made more sense than an mp3 player. The discs were only about a buck and a half (in bulk), which is considerably better than [the money] for a memory stick for any given mp3 player. Plus you could record mp3's just as easily on a MD player. But what clenched in for me was the fact that I didn't have to abandon my existing music library, infact I could condense it into MD's but still keep the very high quality of sound. I am very glad I went with the MD player, it has been well worth it.
Rating: Summary: Handy controls, great sound, solid construction Review: I've had this unit for about a month now and can find nothing bad to say about it. As noted in the other reviews, the controls are easy to use after a couple minutes spent with the manual. The remote is very handy- I carry the player in my backpack with the remote clipped to a strap where I can reach it. With the remote, you can change the volume, move between tracks, change bass setting, change play mode (random/repeat/normal) and power up/down. It's display tells you all you need to know. Use of the remote is optional, and both it and the main unit have "hold" switches to prevent accidental button presses. As advertised, I get about 10 hours out of the internal battery. The external battery case is a great feature. You can attach it for six additional hours of play time. I use a NiMH cell (Eveready Accu) and get nearly as much time as an alkaline battery would give. Yes, the manual says don't use this type of battery but it works fine. Fewer Duracells going into the landfills is a good thing! Carry a spare AA cell, and you can get nearly 24 hours of play time away from a wall outlet. One word about the sound- excellent. The included headphones aren't bad, but you'll probably want to use a better pair. Solid Made in Japan construction.
Rating: Summary: Just get it now, stop thinking about it. Review: I have very high expeectations when I buy an item, esp. through the internet. This item has done everything i had wanted it to do and expected it to, and then some. It is a great product and is pretty cheap too for a MD. so stop worrying about it and get it now. it was well worth the money. The only thing bad about it is the weight and size, but honestly, do you wanna spend another 100 dollars for the thing to way 2 onces less and be a 1/4 inch thinner? also if you get another model, plan to spend a half hour each Album Labling. With the MDMS722 I can lable a whole soundtrack in about 5 minutes quick.
Rating: Summary: Easy to Use Review: This minidisc player is very simple with a lot of easy to use functions. The two best things about it are the price and the jog dial. The jog dial made it simple and easy to name tracks. The price speaks for itself. There is only one problem. I needed to purchase a seperate digital cable to record onto a minidisc. The digital cable that is included only works on special stereos and cd players.
