Summary: First Time Minidisc User Loves this Thing!
Review: I had never owned a minidisc player before, however I wanted a skip-proof device to run with. After hemming and hawing, I ordered this thing. I have been absolutely delighted. The player has NEVER skipped on me, even though I have run with it for dozens of miles. The jog dial makes titleing quick and easy. The build quality of the unit is good, and the unit is aesthetically pleasing. There are smaller units, but I have not found the size to be any problem. It fits easily in a suit coat pocket without weighing down the jacket.

For those of you who have never used minidiscs, they really are an outstanding medium. They are small, durable, easy to record on, and best of all, cheap. At 1.50 a disk, one can record dozens of their favorite CDs and carry them everywhere. I have gotten annoyed with all the scratches accumulating on my CDs, esp. rare ones. With minidiscs to use when travelling, my CDs stay safely at home now...

Nothing bad to say. This is a fantastic product.

Summary: Great all-around deal
Review: This player is exceptional in every way. It records very easily, all you have to do is hook some cords (that come with the player) to a stereo, or PC, and press record. The player has a line sync, which makes it record as soon as it hears a sound through the cable. As for the sound, it is great. I recorded Abbey Road for my first recording, and I heard many details i had never heard before. The bass control is superb when up all the way. The only problem with sound is that if you have the bass all the way up, and volume pretty high, you will hear distortion. But, I've only heard this when I recorded through my PC, which has very bad sound. If you record off of a high-quality stereo, or a PC with good sound, you should have no problems. The ease of use in playing, editing, and titling is great, it's not hard at all to combine, divide, erase, etc. The battery is very good, with a life that will last at least 5 or 6 minidiscs, and with a "AA" battery also attached, this thing will last longer than you will listen. And to top it all off, it's a very affordable price for such high quality. This player is much cheaper compared to all the high-end Sony products, which don't offer anything extra than what this already has for a cheaper price. All things considered, this player is the hands-down best, especially with its price, and I suggest all of you who are planning on getting a MD, or MP3 player, get this one, it rocks.

Summary: Great Unit!!
Review: I've had this unit for around 2 years now, and it's been the best portable music device I've ever had.

For starters MD quality is quite good, while this is a portable recorder, the quality isn't as high as would be with full size decks, but it still compares well.

By the new standards ('03) this unit is LARGE, when I bought it, it was rather reasonable. However the scroll dial is it's best feature. Like the Apple iPod, you can easly scroll through the music on the disc. The dial also makes naming tracks much easier.

Apparently this unit is no longer available. But I would highly reccomend any MiniDisc unit. With newer MP3 players available, the MD is becomming sort of outdated for a person who wants to carry around their whole music collection. I've used this unit for many live sound applications (theater shows, recording) and MiniDisc is a highly advisable format for these purposes.
Also if you are constantly making new mixes of music, (like cheerleadrs, DJ's, etc.) the MD format allows you to re-write easly. (No need to start a CD coaster collection)
Recording quality isn't stealar, but it's not bad for a portable. Last advice, I'd stay away from the MDLP format, it's 5 hours (300 minutes) on the same size disc as the 74 minute units. (more music, same data space = more compression=lower quality)

Summary: Blows Away the Compition, Buy It Now!
Review: The Sharp MS 722 is the best portable audio produc for the price on the market today. Period. I am very familiar with portable audio product so I know what I'm talking about. I've owned a Rio PMP 300 MP3 player, a Nomad 64 MB MP3 player, a Sony RZ70 minidisk recorder. I've sold them all for about what I paid for them. The Rio, having only 32 MB was worthless, I could only fit 8 songs at CD quality! The Nomad was better, with 64 MB, but after I went on vacation to Tennessee, I think I'll scream if I hear one of the 18 songs I had on it again. The Sony had the advantage of minidisk storage. but the sound quality was really lacking with it's ear bud headphones, no Bass to it. After doing a lot of research I decided to go with the Sharp MS 722. I am very impressed. The controls are very easy to use and the sound quality is beyond description with words. Most portable audio players sound bad when you hook the up to anything but headphones. The Sharp will blast through my Alpine car stereo at full blast with amazing quality. the unit looks really cool, I've gotten a lot of compliments on it.

Pros: Best sound qualit...easy to use controls Very customizable, turn antiskip and button beep on/off Very durable, i'm convinced it's indestructable Looks cool

Cons: Doesn't include cable to hook up to most sound cards and Portable CD player Doesn't come with any minidisks (I was a little disapointed when the package arrived)

All in all, Like I've said, I know what I'm talking about and you are not going to find a better minidisk player.

Summary: great value
Review: I bought the Sharp MD-MS722 for recording my dj mixes, but use it for all of my audio recording. Making a recording is very easy, and the buttons are easy to press. While some higher models have the auto-level, which sets the recording level to the correct setting even if the input changes this model does not have one. I would perfer the auto-level control, but from my experience adjusting the level manual is sometimes easier (in a dj mixing enviroment as a example). Another great feature is the "jog-dial" which makes typeing out a MiniDisc name very fast, and easy. While this is my first MiniDisc recorder, I have no complants and find this format will be my choice for all recordings, analog or digital.

As a note to record your cd, just record with the "sync" option on. This will start, stop recording and even change tracks to match the cd. Some cd's will have problems, like a mix cd that has no end to each of the tracks. Another nice feature is the digital in, when recording from a digital source (DVD, CD player) you can get very clear sound, and easy recording set-up.

The only problem I find with this recorder is, 1- the lack of a backlit screen on the main player(it does have a backlit remote). It's not a major problem, just nice to see more details than the remote shows while in a dark room. Something to point out is that this recorder uses a "slot" ejecting style or the common "clam-shell" design. Some people like this, and some don't. Personally I like the slot style more since it give the recorder a less fragile feel. Overall the recorder is very well built, using metal for the main body and after playing MiniDiscs I doubt I will go to tapes or cd for my personal listening.

If you don't have a home recorder, or need to make some high quality recording try this recorder. One last thing to remember is that after making a recording, you must not move the recorder while it is making the "TOC" table or contents file. This will cause you to get a bad recording.

Summary: This will blow you away!
Review: Why would anyone want to buy an mp3 player? I almost did, and I'm glad I didn't! I got the Sharp 722 and it is totally kool! This thing looks like a nuclear reactor, but not even that could make this baby skip. I droped this on the cement while I was walkin home from school and it didn't skip once! The sound is almost exactly the same as what you recorded it from, and I've played in a band fro 5 years, so I can really hear it. You can even hook the thing up to a mic, and make your bands ( or whatever) recordings! And Sharp gives you everything you need! Much more than other MD. You get a rechargeable battery that basically lasts 4ever, and then if it does run out, You can plug your MD into a wall jack, or if you still want to go, Sharp included a little screw in thing so that the MD opperates on 1 AAA battery! The sound is supurb, and the best thing is, for a $3 cord at Radio Shack, and a couple of Mini Disks, you can save hundreds on CD's. All you have to do is connect your MD to your computer and download free mp3's on to it! Why buy an mp3 player when you can have this for about 1/100 the cost for the music? Sharp also includes a cord so you can record off your VCR, your TV, and I even recorded the remix to Magic Carpet Ride on my Triple Play 2001 Playstation game! Yep, hooked it right up to it! Now, that I have one, everyone else wants it. So get on the band wagon, the more people to get on, the faster prices will lower! Email me with any questions about the player, I'll answer them all.

Summary: Definitely the Best
Review: This thing is the best audio equipment I've ever bought. The MD medium, while expensive at the outset, is really cheap and produces perfect CD quality digital sound. With a cable you can buy for $10, you can quickly record anything that grabs your fancy on the fly and save it permanently on a durable MD. The thing is small, too. A bit heavy for an MD, but very durable, and the slot style loading makes it much less prone to break compared to many MD players with clamshell type loading. The styling is very sleek, and the controls are very intuitive. The sound quality and bass boost are very impressive, and the sound distortion is so low that it can be used as a sound source to master other recordings. The battery life is very long (about 10 hours of listening), and the included battery case gives you another 10-12 hours with a normal AA battery. Overall, no complaints in sight from me.

Summary: crummy track record
Review: I started out pleased with the Sharp MD player. I found it easy to use and edit the discs. I used it for recording live music, interviews, MP3, old vinyl records. But, unfortunately in two years mine has broken twice. It no longer records, and it is getting kind of touchy about ejecting the discs. More work on the design of this thing needs to be done. It's not a durable piece of equipment.

Summary: Great product, but...
Review: I've had my MD player for about 2 and a half years. It has been mostly reliable throughout these years. The remote clip broke off about 6 months ago, which is no big deal, and the jog dial has been working on and off for the past year. Two unnecessary but very helpful functions. Recently, I went to switch discs, and it would not come out. The front part seems to be caved in. I am going to try to fix it, but I'm not sure if I can. I've used it quite a bit, and I have been extremely happy with it. However, it is quite large and is kind of annoying to record from the internet and anywhere else. I suggest this product if you do not mind the heavier and bigger player, but other wise it's great. I would maybe suggest a newer MDLP recorder that can record much more onto a disc. Good luck!
