Rating: Summary: No problem Review: Easy installation under Windows 2000, works as described and as expected. I was especially interested in the voice features (speaker phone, caller ID) which are quite good. A good buy, in my opinion.
Rating: Summary: Expect Dropped Connections, Poor Technical Support Review: I bought this modem a week ago, and it has yet to maintain a connection to my ISP for longer than half an hour, and after dropping the connection, it cannot be re-established until the system is restarted. It's been three days since I submitted a request for technical support, and according to the support site, it's not yet been reviewed. In the meantime, I've tried all I know to resolve the issue myself: I've uninstalled and reinstalled the modem, uninstalled and reinstalled the latest modem drivers, deleted and recreated the dial-up networking connection to my ISP, and changed most of modem settings. Most recently, I've forced the modem to connect at 28 kbps. This seems to solve the problem of dropped connections, but as I bought the modem with the expectation of 56 kbps, it's not good enough. Although it's not mentioned on the box, this is a software-based modem, and this is the larger part of the problem, I think. It relies on the system processor, and I've found that no matter how high-performing the system, it's not sufficient for a software-based modem. (For reference, my system: Pentium III, 768 MB RAM, Windows XP). For these reasons, I'm returning (or scrapping, if that's not an option) this modem and buying a different modem from a different manufacturer. Unless you want to risk the same, I advise not purchasing this modem in the first place.
Rating: Summary: Great Modem. No Problems on Win98SE Review: I bought this modem after my V.90 failed. It installed perfectly on my Win 98SE system and every function advertised worked, in- cluding V.92 Modem-On-Hold features of Answer an incoming call and Place an outgoing call, while maintaing my modem connection. My modem was the PCI Di5633 Internal, without a Speakerphone and with out the Flash. I see Amazon appears to lump all Creative ModemBlaster product reviews together, from the comments I see in others reviews. So, problems some have noted may be Windows Version or Modem Version related. Note you MUST have Creative's NetWaiting program running to use the V.92 Modem-on-Hold features. I noticed I had to specifically move NetWaiting to my Windows Startup folder to get it to load on starup (bootup), even though NetWaiting Settings had "Launch At Windows Startup" enabled. It would not load on startup until I dragged NetWaiting to my Windows\ProgramFiles\Startup Folder. In addition, you must have Call Waiting on your telephone service to Answer and incoming call and Three Way Calling on your tel service to Place an outgoing call. Otherwise, your modem connection to your ISP(internet) will be lost. Hope this helps.
Rating: Summary: Conflict Review: I could not get this device to work under windows ME but had minimal problems with Windows 2000
Rating: Summary: Great Modem and great value. Review: I have been using this for the past 3 months. I have yet to have any problems. Did not test the .v92 as I do not have call waiting. Highly recomended.
Rating: Summary: Do not purchase this modem Review: I have purchased this creativelabs DI5633 modem, Installed the windows XP drivers from creative labs and the modem will not work. However Aquery of the modem in modem's properties Is successful. If you delete the modem, windows xp will install its generic 56K modem drivers, which works temporarily, but it consistantly loses internet connection. Please stay away from this one
Rating: Summary: This modem ... Review: I have try this modem on 2 computers with xp and one with 2000 pro. I have updated drivers and it DOES NOT work. If it does dial up then it will just lock up my computer. I highly recommend you don't waste your time with this modem.
Rating: Summary: No problems with this modem Review: I never had any of the other problems mentioned in other reviews. The modem installed quickly and correctly in Windows 2000 and connected between 47 and 50.6 kbs consistently. The modem noise is almost unbearable though, so be sure to turn the volume all of the way down in modem settings.
Rating: Summary: This modem stinks Review: I purchased this modem 5 days ago. The dial up speed is slower than ever. The connection speed is consistently at 28000 bps where I was getting 45333 bps with a usr. I initially could not get the modem on hold feature to load. Once I did get it to load, the feature does not work. It does not recognized and incoming call and I cannot make an outgoing call. Whenever I attempt to used the moh feature, it disconnects. It disconnects when I am not using the moh feature. I have got yet to be online for an hour without an interruption. Don't mention the additional included software, it's a joke. Don't waste your time and money.
Rating: Summary: A good modem for people who are afraid of the internet Review: It just plane doesn't work - with one of these babies in your PC you'll be perfectly safe from all the evil things out on the net. I've tried two of these modems in two different Win2k PCs with the same result: it rarely succeeds at dialing the phone number and on the few times it does dial out, it only connects at about 300 baud. Then it hangs up after a few minutes. I have the latest drivers from Creative's web site, I've reinstalled the hardware and drivers N times. No luck. When I hook up my trusty US Robotics USB modem, everything works perfectly. Life is too short to screw around with a junk modem. Buy anything else.
