Summary: This modem is hard to beat!
Review: There is no reason to lease a modem from the cable company when you can buy a cable modem as good as the Best Data. After calling in the MAC address and plugging in the cable, it connected immediately and ran noticeably faster than the 3Com modem I had been leasing. I also had to reset the 3Com several times, while the Best Data has stayed connected since the day I got it. You can't go wrong with this modem, internet fans.

Summary: Unable to Register with ATTBI
Review: My purchase of this cable modem was based on the excellent reviews here and the promised $20 rebate. Received it promptly but spent two frustrating weeks trying to register with ATTBI. I first connected it to the sas site as instructed with no luck; I then called and provided the MAC address and serial number and waited a few more days without success. Finally, I called again and worked with an ATTBI tech who was not able to "see" this cable modem from his end and thought that the cable was defective and not performing to standard; apparently it connected to "a rogue server" at the time. In addition, Best Data's charge of $7 for technical support and restriction of 15 days from the date of order to obtain rebate for mail order goods made this modem more costly than first thought. I shipped it back and bought the Motorola SB4100 (now available at this site) and was able to connect the same day.

Summary: No Hassle
Review: I hooked this modem up, called cox and provided them with the MAC number and was on line with absolutely no hassles. Speed seems to be as good as or better than that of the old rental toshiba modem, and with the 10$ a month I'M saving, it should pay for itself in under 9 months.

Summary: SLOW!
Review: This modem was recommend by my ISP cox.net to replace the old Motorola unit I had been renting. This Best Data "high-speed" modem ran about 10 times slower than the Motorola unit. I checked some speed test web sites and was getting about 100 to 200 kbps. I hooked the Motorola unit back up and got 1.7 Mbps. The tech support guy at Cox suggested a Toshiba 1100. Maybe I received a defective unit, but I've returned it and will purchase the Toshiba.

Summary: QUIT RENTING A MODEM
Review: This cable modem works every bit as good as the modem I was renting from my ISP, its identical to theirs (500Kbps). And in LESS than 6 months, It will have paid for itself ... After 1 year, paid for itself TWICE!! All you have to do is call your cable ISP and give them the serial number & MAC number of your new modem, then return their modem back to them. Save yourself $15/Month or more in monthly rental fees.

Summary: Excellent product
Review: Had trouble at first, but it was due to provider's configuration problem. After that was taken care of, everything was streaming. Went on Blizzard's Battle.net without a lag. Downloading was a breeze. How did I ever put up with 56K modems before? Highly recommend this product. The name Best Data says it all. Make sure your Cable Internet Provider supports this modem though.

Summary: Excellent choice to replace rental
Review: Replaced my 3Com Sharkfin with the CMX110. Hooked it up and called AT&T, gave her the MAC address and the serial #. Unplugged it for a few minutes per her instructions, plugged it back in and was up and running. Went out and got the cable modem tweak and ran tests on DSLreports.com....this modem smokes the 3Com. I'm happy with it and it will pay for itself in 8 months. A no-brainer especially with the rebate.

Summary: Great Modem, No problems
Review: Using on @Home in San Diego, which is not Cox.net... No problems whatsoever, took 5 minutes to provision, average download 2.4mbps and upload 284kbps, this on both computers thru my Linksys router. Rebate came less than 2 weeks after mailed, probably the fastest ever! Sorry to hear the probs with AT&T, I had them in L.A. and their support was imcompetent. Cox, however, has been great, and even now during their transition, have been very helpful and worth holding on for!!!

Summary: Great Product
Review: I replaced the modem supplied by the cable company with this Best Data model. Installation was simple and one call to the cable company to give them the MAC address and Serial Number of the modem was all I needed to do to transfer my service to the new modem (although it took several hours for it to make it through the ATT cable system computers).

I have had it in service for about 3 months, on line 24 hours a day without any disconnects or lockups. My download speeds are 1500 KBits/sec which is about twice what the old modem delivered.

Summary: Had to get a refund
Review: As instructed, I gave AT&T the MAC address and serial number and gave them a week to register it. Then I find out later that I had to go to http://sas.r2.attbi.com to register the modem and make changes myself. After several attempts logging in with my account and registration nubmers, I keep getting messages to call AT&T to make the changes. I was on the phone with AT&T tech support for a whole week and they couldn't figure out why I couldn't get a connection. My computer constantly freezed up and a message kept saying that my Local Area Connection is unplugged. Several times I checked the connection, and everything seemed fine. I tried resetting the modem as well. However, when I plug in my old cable modem, it worked fine. I tried to call Best Data, but found out that they charge an initial fee...for tech support. After hours of frustration on the phone with AT&T, and to no avail, I returned the merchandise. Could be a faulty modem, I'll never know. I finally bought a Linksys...and was hooked up in 5 minutes. Go figure.
