Summary: Excellent performance at a bargain price.
Review: A few months ago I decided to switch from a dial-up internet service provider with a 56K modem to cable internet service with the a cable modem. The cable modem service has several advantages: (1) I don't have to dial a number to access it; it's on all the time, (2) It's MUCH faster than a 56K modem, and (3) using my computer via a cable modem doesn't tie up my telephone line. My cable company specifically recommended that I buy a Toshiba cable modem so I bought the new Toshiba Pcx2200. For the several months I've had it, it has performed flawlessly and I am thoroughly satisfied with it. Furthermore, it is quite versatile: it works with both PCs and Macs (I use a Mac) and is compatible with both ethernet and USB interfaces. The low price was a pleasant surprise -- many other cable modems that were not specifically recommended by my cable company were more expensive. I've had a long histrory of satisfaction with Toshiba products and highly recommend this one.

Summary: Told By Apartment Complex That It Doesn't Work on Their Syst
Review: Apartment complex has it's own cable system. I purchased this product but before I opened it I checked with the complex and was told that the last 4 Toshiba modems they tried to hook up didn't work. They said the Motorola or Linksys modems worked fine. They talked with the Toshiba tech support but still couldn't get it going for some reason. So just a word of warning to check with your cable supplier before making a decision on the modem.

Summary: Does what it should
Review: Computer add-ons like cable modems should simply dissappear into your system. This modem does just that. Initial set up was flawless. The encluded software is very easy to use. Once the cables were hooked up and the MAC address was called into my cable provider I was on the WEB immediately. I haven't had to touch the modem or any other settings in the last 6 months. My brother has the same cable service as me but is using the modem that the cable company leases to him. He has to reset his modem often because of freeze-ups.

All in all, a very good product that works as it should.

Summary: Flexible Cable Modem
Review: I am currently using a PCX2200 to connnect to my RoadRunner service. The Modem has been working without any problems. It has connections for USB and RJ45. The power supply cable has the transfomer in the middle of the cable which makes it easy to plug into an outlet strip unlike some that have the plug built into the transformer and hog space. I am using it with a D-link DI-604 router to share my high speed access with two computers. Overall have had no problems and reliable broadband service with it.

Update - I have been using this modem in my basement since March. The temp in the basement runs around 65 in the winter and spring. Recently it has gotten up to 78 degrees in the basement and my Roadrunner service was slowing and sometimes stopping all together. Finally realized that the modem was hot. If I took a file folder and fanned it for 30 seconds to cool it down my service would be back up until the modem got hot again. Looked at documentation on Toshiba web site and they have many warnings about keeping this unit cool and well ventilated. Called Time Warner for replacement and they gave me a new one that is now working fine. The one I had before had something spilled on it when they installed it and that may be what contributed to its heat failure. Keep it cool!!!!!

Summary: Fast, Easy, No Problems - Highly recommend!
Review: I bought this modem because my provider recommended it. I bought it because I finally realized I was going to continue to have cable and why pay my provider [X] per month to rent the modem. It has been a couple of months and I have not had any problems - I have several computers running through it - and send and receive large files regularly. Setup was a breeze - easy with no problems at all. Highly recommend!

Summary: My first cable modem
Review: I did not buy this off of amazon . com but I did buy it at a local store. This is a nicely made modem. I have used mine for almost a year now and have not yet had a problem. You can connect it with either USB or eithernet connection. for usb you need drivers which are enclosed on a cd. This product is quiet and just sits there and blinks at you. If you wish you can even leave it on all the time like I do. IF you are buying a cablem modem I recoment this product for its looks, its a name brand company. and from what I can tell they are made quite well.

Summary: Good but not long lasting
Review: I got this together with my Cox Connection in June 2002. Initially it worked great . Like all I was thrilled because of the high speed internet. But it does not long last. First you start getting drops at times and then more frequently. The life I would say is about 1 to 1.5 years without any drop. Then you need to switch

Summary: Seriously good stuff
Review: I had so much trouble with the Motorola cable modem, that I was beginning to give up on getting back online with the fast speed again. Finally I took the Motorola back and got the Toshiba.

Oh my gosh, its great! I was so relieved. The motorola took literally hours to get working, and then it kept messing up. The techinicians ran around in circles. This IP address was off, then that one was.

I didn't have to worry about any of that with the Toshiba. I couldn't believe how easy it was! I was on the internet in literally 5 minutes. I was so shocked! This is the first time I was able to get on so painlessly and quickly.

If you want a cable modem, go with this one. I haven't found a better one yet. (we use Adelphia cable)
