Rating: Summary: No signal drops, Very Solid modem Review: Excellent cable modem. I am very much a Linksys fan and bought their cable modem to go with my router and wireless access point. After numerous problems I checked the reviews to find a better cable modem. Excellent reviews led me to the surfboard.I switched to the Surfboard and have had excellent results. No lockups, no signal drops, everything works great. It also works just fine with all of my other Linksys routing equipment. If you are having connection drops or other issues with your current cable modem, this one is worth a try. It solved all of the issues I had with my previous cable modem. Does very good with online games as well. I am using it with Charter Communications.
Rating: Summary: VoIP and SB5100 Review: My Surfboard5100 is connected to another Motorola product, a VT1000v VoIP (Voice over IP) router operating in bridged mode. The bridge goes to a Linksys router which feeds my WAP and other PCs. I have yet to have a phone call dropped or no dial tone. I obtain two IP addresses through DHCP from Cox in Baton Rouge. One for the VoIP router and the other one from the bridged connection which feeds the Linksys router. Crystal clear cheap phones calls and a fast connection. Internet heaven...
Rating: Summary: Fantastic product, no better choice in cable modems! Review: Originally bought a Linksys BEFCMU10 v2, nothing but trouble, constantly dropped connections requiring a power-off reset, incredibly annoying. Frustrated, I picked up the Motorola SB5100 from Amazon, works PERFECTLY! No dropped connections and plenty fast. I should have known NOT to venture far from the Motorola brand given that all three (3) of my previous cable providers furnish this brand with installation. But the Linksys was on sale at the time, so I bought it -- never again. You just can't go wrong with this Motorola model, looks good too (black). It also has a standby button that's unusual but handy. I'm VERY happy with this purchase.
Rating: Summary: Great modem Review: I bought this modem to replace a Motorola 4200 rental from Comcast. Once Comcast registered the modem it connected instantly. Not one problem with ths modem yet. This standby button is a nice feature.
Rating: Summary: Great modem ... Great Amazon.com service Review: Update! - 2/28/04 It has been a month since I purchased this product and it still is working great! I do a lot of work from home which requires a constant and strong signal with the Internet in order to connect to my employer's server through a VPN (Virtual Private Network). This modem has worked wonderfully for me on both my Mac and my PC. I highly recommend this product! -------- ,... On to the modem ... setup was very easy. Talk about plug and play! The only issue I had was on Cox's end, but after I called them and updated my modem everything worked great. I especially like the standby feature which allows you to protect your computers by simply pressing a button which stops the internet connection. I am sure other modems work just as well; I was comparing this one with the D-Link DCM201 which also looked good. As far as I know, if you purchased this modem you will be safe. Just in case I will update this review at a later time to add any experiences (good or bad) that I may have.
Rating: Summary: Great Modem Review: I was disappointed when I first connected the modem and had problems getting online. Contacted Comcast by e-mail got their response but didn't have any luck. I decided to call Comcast and was up and running in less than five minutes. Just goes to show you how a phone call can do wonders. Anyway I'm up and running and have had no problems as of yet. I can recommend this product to everyone. And I save $3 bucks a month on my cable bill.
Rating: Summary: Blazing speed Review: I was tired of renting.I researched the rest and tried the best . GO Motorla. They are the Sony of things that are built to last and promise what they say.
Rating: Summary: Smooth Review: I purchased the Surfboard after my Linksys modem crapped out. IMO I think that the Surfboard runs smoother and faster than the linksys ever did. I highly recommend buying one if you are in the search for an affordable modem.
Rating: Summary: Works great Review: I bought mine two months ago. I use it with comcast and so far it's been great. The standby button is a very useful feature. Get it.
