Summary: Zoom Does it Again!
Review: The modem is an excellent product. If you have had performance problems with your current internal Windows operated modem (winmodem) give Zoom a try. Since the control is external, it will not use up the system resources performing connection and data flow operations. Although others posted a few concerns about the software, I agree that the best thing to do is install the drivers from the CD - there can be some problems finding the drivers during the Plug and Play (PnP) process. Go to the CD, select your language, then install the drivers. Then you can shut down the computer, hook up the modem, and start things up. The one item that is not included is a serial cable. Unlike some serial modem cables you will need a cable with a small female end and a large male end serial plug - often the cables will be both end with female ends. This will not work and I just wanted to save you from going back to the store like I did. After the modem is up and running don't forget one of the great features of having an external modem with external controls - you can upgrade the memory in the external modem. This is called "flash memory". Just go to the Zoom site and make shure that you select the correct modem and chipset and download the file to your desktop. WHen you unzip the file you'll get some instructions on how to upgrade the flash memory. Check back every six months or so to see if there are any additional flash memory upgrades. The one sore point I have with this product is the voice/fax program that comes free with this item. It is a "lite" version and does the job, but it is a rather dismal showing from Zoom. My wife purchased a Creative Blaster Internal and they had a very nice full featured fax/voice message system with their product. I still give this modem five stars - I never count on the "free" software that comes with any product. They do have a rather nice "ad killer" software program that comes with this package and it also speeds your download times. Bottom line - you will see a rapid improvement in the performance of your computer and connection with this Zoom product.

Summary: Great !! I won't use never a Micro$oft OS again!!!
Review: This modem is excellent. Fast, PnP, easy to setup in Mandrake Linux 8 and Mac OS X. It was detected and configurated automatically. Windows 2000 detected the first time and then never again (tipically). Now that I have a very good connection to Internet from Linux and Mac I will never use a Micro$oft operating system again.

After 2 months using this modem I have praises, no more. It functions very well with my Macs and my PCs. OS 8, OS 9 and OS X works without a flaw. Very good modem.

Review: This modem says it is Mac compatible. Hardware that is. There is no Mac software bundled with the modem. Mac users, look elsewhere. Zoom's 90 modem came with software for Macs but this new version doesn't.

Summary: This modem rocks!
Review: Zoom is simply the best manufacturer of modems. They have the best hardware, the best software, and dynamite tech support. Most modems have a seven year warranty, which often out-lives the computer they are attached to. If you like blinking lights, you won't be disappointed with Zoom's external modems. This V.92 has fourteen (14) LED's. Do you need to know what they are? Not really; it just looks cool. What is important is this modem blows away my old 56k modem for speed of both data and fax. It installed into Win2K without rebooting. I just changed my DUN's to reflect the new modem drivers and I was logged back into my ISP in less than four minutes (two minutes to plug/un-plug, two minutes in device manger and DUN). Zoom has always been a painless installation and I always get their external modems so I can watch da blinking lights.
