Summary: No more Zoom for me....
Review: I've either received a faulty modem or it has major compatibility issues with the VIA Apollo 133A chipset. I'm A+ certified & have never had so much hassle with a modem. Once I was able to track down the tech support number (not an 800#) that is hidden in the .pdf files on the install CD, I called & received the most condescending & rude *help* of any tech support I've dealt with. I also have a Creative Modem Blaster USB & most definitely recommend it over the Zoom 3090. At least with Creative, if you run into install problems, you have great tech support. Zoom isn't worth the hassle. It hurts to give it 1 star.

Summary: Best Modem I've Ever Owed!
Review: I've had problems with my previous modem, it kept disconnecting on me. This new modem by Zoom was very easy to install, and my computer detected it right away. It connects to the internet in no time at all and now I never get disconnected. I've owned it now for two weeks and am very impressed. The price is very affordable too, especially with the rebate! The only thing is that it has not connected at a faster speed but I think that has more to do with the phone lines in my area. It is a great modem and easy to use!

Summary: zoom usb mini
Review: I've had this modem a few days and haven't had any problems. Just make sure you install the drivers BEFORE connecting the modem to the usb port. I did this and had problems getting it to work initially. Mare sure to read the directions before connecting. If you have this problem go into the device manager and uninstall the modem, then load the drivers and connect...should work fine after that.

Summary: Zoom/Modem V92 USB Mini
Review: I've had this modem for a week, having replaced a Rockwell 56K PCI (That I broke while installing an additional hard drive), it is the best "bad luck" I ever had, this new modem (3090-00-03) is awesome! I used to think the phone lines were simply bad in my area, well if they are, this modem can handle them. Connect speeds are at leat 50% better with practically NO disconnects. I strongly recommend it. A single strip of Velcro holds the modem to side of my mini-tower so being external is no problem. I have seen no performance degradation to my USB ports, despite having 7 USB items. Congratulations ZOOM Telephonics!!!

Summary: Nice Job Zoom
Review: Purchased a Zoom 3090 V92. USB to replace my 3Com 56K after a friend recommended trying Zoom. Went from connecting at an avg of 28.8 to an avg of 48.0. Drivers and Fax software easy to install. Worth every penny.

Summary: Doesn't Zoom on XP
Review: The minimum processor speed for XP is 750MHz, a requirement not well documented!
I never was successful getting my modem to actually go "off-hook". If I took the line off-hook by picking up an extension phone it would dial.
The manual or web-site were not very helpful, except to tell me that my PC was below the new speed requirements.

Summary: BEST MODEM
Review: This is a wonderful modem. It's easy to install, and gives high speed connections (44kbps to 53kbps) every time with NO drops! If you have a Via chipset on your motherboard, then follow Zoom's advice on their tech support page [web page]). Zoom says to go to [web page] and download the latest 4 in 1 driver file, and also download the USB filter driver. After doing that, you should be good to go. I am not a certified A+ PC Technician like the above reviewer from October 5th, 2001. But, Zoom's tech support page made it easy for me to find out this information. Way to go Zoom tech support :0) I recommend this modem to everyone looking for an easy to install, fast, reliable modem!!!!!!

Summary: can't stay connected!
Review: What's the point of having a modem if it doesn't work properly? I haven't been able to stay connected to the internet. Looking at the connection signal at the bottom of the window, after about 30 seconds, the transfer signals are off. Shortly after I can disconnected. First I thought it was my computer or my ISP but I barrowed another modem and I stayed connected for hours!
