Review: This item is NOT compatible with windows xp pro!!!
After 3 hours of long distance charges calling tech support, the modem still does not work and thanks to their expert instructions, my registry is now damaged. Buy anything else, but do not buy this modem. The only reason I gave it one star was because it would not accept my comment without me selecting something.

Summary: This modem only works on my USB 1.0 ports, not USB 2.0
Review: This was not a conclusive test but the modem only worked on my onboard USB 1.0 VIA 82C596B controller and not my NEC USB 2.0 PCI adapter.If you're having problems, try a USB 1.0 port.

Summary: awesome modem
Review: U.S. Robotics 56K Faxmodem USB 1.1 was very easy to install. Just Plug it to USB port and then install the drivers. The modem uses the standard USB cable 1.1, so it's easy to find a replacement cable. The USB powered feature with no external power supply is very great. I have a forest of power cables for other devices I have. Some times I don't know which is the power cable for a certian device. The modem itself is very light even lighter than my external zip drive. You also connect this modem to USB 1 hub without any problems. The attached software automatically check for updates of the drivers and the frimware of the modem. The only disadvantage is that the modem is not supported under linux. This modem includes the V.92 and V.90 ITU standard technologies. Sending e-mail and attachments are around 50 percent faster, with a quicker internet connect and it takes incoming calls while online.
