Rating: Summary: Never seen another mouse come close... Review: I've owned the IntelliMouse Trackball ever since it came out and have never gone back to using a regular mouse since.
I spend 12 hours a day on a computer and can't imagine ever having to go back to a regular mouse again.
I have three of them, one for my work computer one for my home desktop and another for my laptop.
Although it does require cleaning every now and then, it takes less than 2 minutes to do. Worth it for the pain it has saved my arm due to carpel tunnel.
It was a shame that they discontinued it.
Rating: Summary: Most reliable Review: Relative to other trackballs, this one is lacking in overall features, but it does have the basics and a wheel. In addition, it is aestheticly disapointing. However, I have tried Logitech and Kensington, and both those brands always give my system problems with vavious driver conflicts and other things. I have never been able to get Logitech devices to work on my system, and Kensington devices always caused routine errors. Thus, I went with this trackball and have operated trouble free ever since. I gave this device 4 stars because of it reliability, but I hope MS does a redesign soon.
Rating: Summary: Microsoft IntelliMouse Trackball Review: Sorry to hear it's been discontinued. I've owned 3 of them so far and was looking for a 4th. Highly recommend it especially for women or children (people with small hands).

Rating: Summary: Poor Design Review: The major problem with the design of this mouse is that you operate the buttons with your thumb and the ball with your fingers. The track ball just doesn't track very well either. It seems to get stuck even though I keep it clean.
Rating: Summary: High Maintenence Review: The problem with this device is that the ball is very smooth and will slip if it gets the least little bit of grease on it from a skin cream or even eating a potato chip. I use the mouse all day and had to switch to a trackball to avoid repetition injury. The only other mouse I've used is Logitech which is an optical mouse and requires no reqular cleaning. I'd definitely not buy Microsoft if you're a heavy user.

Rating: Summary: Excellent, Smooth, Dirty Review: This is truly the best mouse I have ever used. It obviously takes a little time to get used to. Like any tool, you aren't going to be a master immediately upon using it. I've had it for years now and I would not go back to a normal mouse. The problem as has been mentioned before is the dirt. Any small amount of lint, grease, oil... on your hands migrates to the contact points. The ball is slippery and requires regular cleanings. If this exact same design were available in an optical format, I would buy that immediately. The nearest designs are the Explorer by Microsoft, that I bought my brother for christmas last year. It works fine, but I have become so used to this one. If you get a chance, or see an optical like this, jump on the opportunity to buy it (and let me know about it would you?).
