Summary: Good...mostly
Review: The accuracy and speed of this mouse is great! It works perfectly...mostly. My only complaints are with the software. Many of the special keys don't work properly in some applications. For example, I use Mozilla as my browser and the scroll up and down buttons (not the scroll wheel) don't work correctly. Also, scrolling is terribly jumpy and jerky unless you set the scrolling to MS compatible. But then the scroll wheel doesn't work in some programs. Overall this is a good mouse though and well worth the price. And it will only get better when Logitech updates the software for it!

Summary: Good mouse, BUT
Review: Mouse has very good sensitivity, a nice feel and matches my Inspiron 8200 very well. =) But for the price I paid for this mouse, I would expect flawless hardware. Perhaps I'm being a little [picky], but when I recieved the mouse, the most forward button (cruise control forward) was a little loose. I could depress the button almost halfway without the mouse registering a button press. Also, after one day of use, the wheel button doesn't not register all (about 70%) of my clicks (I have the button keyed to my kill program button.) I'm somewhat disappointed as this is the latest and greatest mouse on the market now (well, if one doesn't count incredibily expensive Bluetooth mice from Microsoft). I am recieving a replacement from [Amazon.com] to see if these problems only occur locally on my mouse, but unfortunately, the demand for the MX700 has slung the expected ship date to Dec 8-22... a full month from now. Upgrading from a cord ball mouse, this mouse is a Godsend. It is a little heavy, but easy to get used to. If not for the buttons issue, this product would have been given 5 stars. I'll update once the replacement gets in.
Note: The feet of the mice seem to be made of a softer plastic, after about an hour of use, I noticed small scratches on the bottom of the feet. Also, the 2 charging prongs on the base have scratched the contacts on the mouse, as well as one small scratch on the body.

Summary: I'm finally happy with my mouse!
Review: I'm not realy picky about my mice, but my frustration with a mouse cord always in the way, cluttering my desk, and restricting movement finally led me to go cordless. After reading rave reviews on some tech sites and comparing features, I chose this one. The price and reviews gave me high expectations which were handily exceeded. I did not know how much difference a mouse could make! It feels so natural that I'm disappointed when both hands are required at the keyboard. This is a top quality piece of electronics well worth every penny. The thoughtful design is equalled by the care and precision that went into the manufacture. It just feels solid and well-built.My biggest concern was that the extra buttons would interfere with normal usage. Logitech put them in places such that I've never hit one by mistake and even found them to increase my efficiency. So far, I only use a couple, but they're all pre-defined to speed up common tasks usually requiring keystrokes. My favorite button is the one just above the thumb rest that defaults to a "back" button for web browsing. The base is so easy to use, just drop it in and a little green light flashes discretely to let you know it's charging. It typically charges in an hour or less and gives a little on-screen notice when the battery level runs low. Battery life has been great as well, only running out the time I used it two days straight without a charge. It ships with NiMH rechargable AA batteries, so they'll last longer and be easier to find later. I've moved the base all around my desk looking for the perfect place, and despite Logitech's recommendation not to place it within a foot or so of other devices, I've yet to have a problem. This one beats the many other Microsoft and Logitech mice I've used hands down. If you're looking for anything but your standard-issue mouse, spend a little more and you'll thank yourself later! I expect mine will last a lot longer than my current computer.

Summary: Does not play well with laptop mouse software
Review: Nearly perfect. If it weren't for the fact that the Logitech software takes over my Synaptics Touchpad software on my laptop, it would be perfect. With the Logitech software installed, my touchpad was useless. Too bad because it worked fairly well, except the scroll bar was not super accurate.

Summary: best cordless mouse so far
Review: Great mouse, I have had it for a week now and although it has a few querks I need to get used to it is great. I noticed a typo on the printed set up sheet that the base station needs to be 20in/8cm away from electronic devices it should read 8in/20cm, about the width of a peice of paper. The set up guide on the install software has it right. I upgraded from a corded intellimouse Explorer. The switch program and scroll buttons are nice. When Im working I have a cluttered desk the cordless mouse is a must. Have not had it long enough to seen any problem with the recargable batteries. If your worried just keep a corded mouse in the file cabnet. I bet you would never need it if you have the habit of docking the mouse when you shut down at the end of the day. Don't forget to plug the mouse docking port into a unswitched plug.

Summary: Phenomenal mouse, Logitech got it right this time!
Review: 6 months ago I purchased the Cordless Mouseman Optical. It fit what I originally wanted, a wireless-optical combo. However, I would've only rated that product 3/5 stars for the following reasons: 1) the sampling rate was ridiculously low (you could actually see the lagginess of the cursor flying across the screen), 2) I had to keep paying for new batteries, and 3) It only had 3 main buttons. After using the new MX700 for a week, I must say: this mouse is a godsend. Logitech really got it right this time. I love the new look, the way the two mouse buttons are seamlessly part of the mouse body, and how there are so many other buttons to customize. The sampling rate is excellent, good enough for me to play any FPS shooter out there (although still not as good as what you might find with a high-end corded optical mouse). I have never gotten any interference with the mouse (no matter how hard I've tried), and the base station idea rocks. I really enjoy not having to buy new batteries every few weeks. The base station idea is great because it allows the mouse hardware to sample at higher rates without having to worry over power conservation. My particular mouse did have a problem where one of the foot pads were uneven, which resulted in a VERY slight inbalance in the mouse. If I gently shifted weight on the mouse, I could feel it tilt to a direction on the footpads. This was easily fixed by applying a tiny bit of scotch tape beneath one of the foot pads. I have a feeling though that this defect was probably just on my particular purchase, so I wouldn't really be too concerned about this. Another issue is the weight. The mouse is pretty heavy, even compared to the Cordless Mouseman Optical. For a gamer, this might be an issue since rapid movements may be slightly impeded. For me, it works great in all precision applications like Photoshop or in gaming, like UT2003, etc.

Summary: Okay, but not great
Review: I bought this after reading a highly-complimentary review extremetech.com. I don't think switching from my old corded mouse was really worth the effort, and in fact, I might go back to it. Although I do like the elimination of cord drag, here are the things I don't like: 1) As another reviewer mentioned, you do have to remember to charge the mouse regularly (although I've searched the documentation and haven't found out exactly how long a charge should last). I had to make a run back to the office this weekend when I realized I had left the mouse on my desk, and I couldn't afford the 2-hour downtime Monday morning waiting for the mouse to charge.
2) The small printed setup guide, whose content appears to be used for several different products, tells you that the charger must be placed 20 inches from any electrical device. Try to find a spot on your desk 20 inches away from any other electrical device!
3) The mouse is fairly heavy, which means you cannot place it on an inclined surface, such as a keyboard tray, because it will slide down. (But the weight does not make it difficult to use other than that.)
4) Sometimes an activity, especially scrolling, appears to "stick", i.e., the page continues to scroll after you've stopped telling it to. This usually happens to me in browser windows, as opposed to desktop applications.
5) The software for configuring the mouse doesn't seem to work well. For example, I've tried several times to configure the Universal Scroll properties. The options I select never seem to stick, but there's no indication that my options failed, or the reason for the failure. So, I'd have to say I'm not all that pleased with this mouse. I haven't gone back to my old corded one yet, but if the recharging thing gets to be too much trouble, I probably will. The benefits of the this cordless mouse just don't outweigh the annoyances.

Summary: Great web surfing, multi-tasking mouse.
Review: As a teacher I tend to have several programs open at once. Since your school is fairly heavy into technology most of this is on the web. I found the scrolling and control of this mouse almost as impressive as its funtion buttons. This is definately a tool for the surfer or multi-tasker. The only problem I see is that it takes a little getting use to for people with big hands like I do. After a day or so though it's great. I also like how the receiver and the recharger are all one unit.

Summary: Awesome Design and Top Notch Performance
Review: I have been a fan of optical mice since they were introduced a few years ago. I bought the 'first' generation optical cordless from Logitech and was VERY disappointed in design and function. The MX700 breaks new ground. Rechargeable base and awesome button design are the MX700's hallmarks. The response time for this mouse seems to have no lag. I like the way this mouse feels. The ability to recharge in the base/receiver is nice. It looks great and stores your mouse out of the way. PROS: -Excellent Design
-New optical sensor is FAST
-Base/Charger is sleek and handy
-Excellent function buttons CON: -I wish it was just a little lighter (of course no cord is the upside to a few extra ounces)

Rechargeable battery only lasts a few days before forcing a recharge. Logitech cordless mice using Alkaline batteries last for months...
If you don't remember to place the mouse in the base every night, you might return to find a dead mouse the next day.
Some of the new buttons on top are not easy to press without having to take your hand off of the mouse.
