Rating: Summary: Fantastic mouse Review: The MX700 certainly falls into the luxury category (if such a thing exists) as far as mice go. After reading very positive reviews on several sites I decided to take the plunge. I couldn't be happier, the MX 700 is amazing.Setting it up is simple. Install the batteries and let it charge for a while, then plug it in to either a PS/2 or USB port. Windows XP recognized it immediately. I also had no problems with it under Linux. The mouse itself has a great feel. It has some mass to it, but slides easily. All of the buttons are easily reached and the clicking action is very solid. So far, battery life hasn't been a problem, but then again, you just need to drop it in the cradle for a recharge.
Rating: Summary: The best so far... Review: I have used a number of mice (most recently a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer and, when it broke, a Logitech rollerball mouse to tide me over until I got the MX 700) and the MX 700 is certainly the most convenient and accurate mouse I have used to date. There is certainly no contest in comparison to a 'standard' rollerball mouse -- I had to slightly adjust my mousing technique after using the rollerball because inaccuracies that were not noticeable with it were becoming abundantly obvious when using the MX 700. In comparison to the Explorer, I think that the accuracy (for everyday uage) is comparable (both seem highly accurate). However, for hardcore gamers or graphics enthusiasts, the MX 700 would be the mouse of choice as there is a noticeable increase in sensitivity in the MX 700 for fine and quick movements. The MX 700 has a better heft and feel (in my opinion) than the Explorer -- I would recommend that, if you have any doubt about feel, you try them both out before you purchase. The MX 700 is definitely more 'traditional' in shape, and it also feels a bit more solid and substantial, due, most likely, to its slightly heavier weight. But it's not too heavy and glides easily over all surfaces that I have tested it on (desktop, paper, plastic, traditional mousepad, etc.). The programmable buttons on the MX 700 do not detract for the overall design and do not get in the way -- they are all very useful, especially for users already accustomed to other 5+ button mice. My only complaint minor complaint in this respect is that the button which lets you scroll up without having to use the wheel is placed a bit high on the mouse and, at times, not convenient to reach. I have not noticed any drop-off in accuracy due to the cordless functionality, and I believe that the biggest advantage for this mouse (over other cordless and corded mice currently on the market) is the convenient RF transmitter/recharging cradle. The included rechargeable batteries charge very fast (less than 1.5 hours in my experience) and last a while -- plus, because the cradle must be placed near your computer, it very easy to leave the mouse in the cradle when it is not in use. This is superior to other cordless mice that, when your batteries die, require you to either buy new batteries or go without a mouse while your rechargeables are recharged. My desk appreciates not having the extra clutter of a mouse cable running to my computer. Bottom line: High marks for accuracy and convenience, excellent cordless functionality saves space; if you can justify the extra price, this is the mouse for you.
Rating: Summary: Best mouse I have ever owned Review: I have been using computers since before a mouse was even available. I have owned dozens of different brands/types and this is hands-down the best one I have ever used. The tracking is far better than any ball mouse, and definately the best optical tracking I have seen to date. Another reviewer stated that tracking was bad on unusual surfaces. I strongly disagree! I have had this mouse track well on a bedspread, the arm of a chair, a CD case, a shirt (that I was wearing), basically anything! Points to think about: 1. Best tracking/accuracy I have ever seen on a mouse. 2. No cord. If you've never tried cordless, you don't know what you're missing. I have never gone back to a corded model. 3. Rechargable batteries!! Lasts for days of constant use, recharges in a couple of hours (I have forgotten to charge it for several days, never ran out on me). If you put it in the desktop recharger every night, you never have to worry about it. 4. Ergonomics - up to you. I find that I get used to any mouse shape after a couple of days of constant use. So, I'm not a good judge for comfort. I have no complaints about its shape at all. If you are looking for a really good mouse, that you won't have to clean, or tinker with, or change batteries, here you go.
Rating: Summary: Good product! Review: I love this mice so much, i got that for [money] at [local store]! without any mail in rebate.
Rating: Summary: Far FAR better than Microsoft's equivalent model Review: I have been wary for purchasing another cordless optical mouse after my experience with Microsoft's Wireless Intellimouse Explorer. The only thing I can say good about that mouse is that it has a nice feel in it's shape and button placement. But it was a battery monster and had poor response and sometimes very jerkey movement. It had a home on my desktop for about two months before I gave it away. As I understand it, it has passed on to at least one other person since then. I have to admit that the experience put me off buying another cordless optical mouse again for quite a while. But I decided to take a chance on the Logitech MX700. One of the main selling points is the rechargeable feature. I've seen several complaints about the mouse being 'pricy'. But, heck, after buying new batteries for the Microsoft mouse every other week, it's cost of operation took it's price above the Logitech mouse quickly. For the most part, I love the responsive nature of this little beauty. It is actually responding better to movements than my venerable old Logitech 3 button wheel mouse. Especially after I turned it's reporting speed up to 200. Installation was a snap and after the two hour charging time, it was up and running without a hitch. There are two detractors to it that I feel I must discuss. One, there is a ridge along the right side of the body that I do not like. It is kind of uncomfortable for my ring finger, but I am growing accustomed to it. Second, if you are a gamer like I am sometimes, none of the extra buttons can be configured within the game. Would have been really nice to have the two buttons on the side work the zoom in a sniper rifle or whatever game specific use I wanted. Maybe Logitech will address this with a later issue of it's software. Over all, this is an excellent mouse. I would highly recomend it to anyone that is looking to go cordless. I do not regret the price I paid at all.
Rating: Summary: Everything you could want in a mouse Review: I have been using this mouse for a month since I got it for Christmas and seems pretty much perfect to me. I got it as a present so I can't comment on the price. The features: 1. Optical - no more ball collecting lint 2. Cordless - cleaner desktop 3. Recharging stand - no batteries needing replacement 4. extra mouse buttons - I have not found these all that useful myself but I am still playing with the different assignments they can have I like the feel of the mouse and use in both hands and find it acceptable in my left hand as well as my right.
Rating: Summary: The Best Mouse I've EVER used Review: As an avid computer user, I find it very important to have nice 'sensory' devices in a computer. That is, the monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers should all be the best you can afford. The MX700 falls in this category. It is smooth, beautiful, responsive, and last but not least, very useful. It's got a total of seven fully programmable buttons in strategic places. Instead of going all the way to the "last page" button in Internet Explorer, you just click on a button near your thumb. It sounds awkward, but after a few minutes, you'll wonder how you ever moused without it. The MX700 is expensive, but well worth it. BUY IT. You won't regret it.
Rating: Summary: Good Mouse Review: Though I have not had my mouse long I have no issues with it. It works at a very high speed so that is nice. The feel of it in your hand (if you are right handed) is really nice, it just fits. The mouse works at a good distance from the base station with no problem. Also it is very cool with all of those buttons on there. However, because of the hi price I would only recomend this mouse to high end users who spend much time every day on their computers for work/school, or in my situation lots of college homework and for my job.
Rating: Summary: Almost perfect..... Review: I would have given this mouse 5 stars but it has one design flaw. I would disagree with the folks who think that this mouse is ergonomic. Yes it has curves on both sides for your thumb and little finger but it is too small for larger hands. To be truly ergonomic it would have to be available in small, medium, and large. And it would be a bit on the ugly side. If you doubt this, dig your fingers into some soft material that will hold its shape afterwards. My Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer is more comfortable for my hand but does not have the ability to recharge and it is also too small. Overall I have always been disappointed by mouse sizes offered by every manufacturer out there. I have always felt that mice should be designed to support your entire hand, not just your fingers. The right corner of my wrist rubs on the desk with all mice. Other than that I like this mouse very much. It has the best tracking of any mouse, corded or wireless. My mouse pad is solid black with no pattern and this mouse is just at home on this pad as it is on any other surface. The page up and down buttons are a nice touch. It recharges quickly(2 hours) and the batteries are easily replaceable with better quality ones or with standard AA batteries if desired. (no, you can not recharge standard AA batteries in the charger) The range is also better than my MS wireless mouse. Overall a very nice mouse, but it could be a little bigger and more ergonomic. But then it would not be as attractive as it is.
Rating: Summary: Great Mouse Review: Great mouse, but get better rechargeable batteries unless you want to have to recharge your mouse every 4 hours. Tah Tah
