Rating: Summary: This little one made it through the muck of life! Review: Although this is a cheepie, this little recorder went an astonishingly long way with me. Too bad it is discontinued. I recommend this recorder if it ever comes on the market again. I have gone through many recorders, and most only last a few weeks. This one made it two years of near daily use, lots of banging around, and the general chaos of academic life. Panasonic needs to reintroduce this lil one, since mine FINALLY went kaplooey and I need a new'n bad.

Rating: Summary: Best for your money. Review: I just bought this today and used it to record my own music. The sound is impressive, and before today I'd been using some Sony model my mom paid 40 bucks for, and it wasn't that good. Features a counter, voice activation option (and within this option there are 2 sound choices!), earphone jack, mic jack (the mic jack is IMPORTANT. although the sound on this recorder is better than most, you'll want a microphone. I HIGHLY recommend a Jensen Clip-on mic. They run from 8 to 12 bucks. They are small but they sound incredible.) This seems pretty sturdy, and so far it hasn't broken.
Rating: Summary: Very poor quality Review: I just received this Panasonic Tape recorder and it literally almost fell apart in my hands. I opened the door to insert a cassette and a spring popped up and fell on the floor. I tried turning the unit on (with fresh batteries), the wheels on the tape ran for a few seconds and then ground to a stop. So I turn it off and try to press play again - only the buttons wouldn't respond at all.So incredibly disappointed. Obviously, I'm sending it back to Amazon as a return for a full refund!
Rating: Summary: Great product -... Review: I've been using a micro cassette recorder for years, and after trying three different brands, I finally grew tired of the poor sound quality. Moving to a regular cassette size has really made all the difference in that department. This unit is easy to use, and is a very basic model. No big bells and whistles here....but it definitely gets the job done. So much so....that i'm baaaaack....purchasing another one for my sister! I like this recorder MUCHO!!!!
Rating: Summary: Outstanding Cassette Recorder Review: Just like with most of Panasonic products, the RQL-50 mini cassette recorder is outstanding. Great sound quality, attractive design and simple use are worth the price I paid through Amazon.com. It comes equiped with two DC2.4V NiCad rechargeable batteries and an AC adaptor/charger. I have been using it for about four months for recording interviews with no problems. This is the second RQL-50 that I have owned. It is compact and light weight and highly recommend it. The Amazon.com price is hard to beat.
Rating: Summary: Great for the classroom Review: This recorder works great for the classroom. I have owned voice recorders before, but this one has many great features. First, all the buttons are easy to use & find - not as small as my previous recorder. I especially like the "pause" button, which is great when you want to stop recording (it doesn't distract the speaker by making a loud noise, like you would if you hit the stop button), and is also useful when you are playing back the tape and want to take notes. The pause button is also located at a convient spot - no where near other buttons so you don't accidently hit "rewind" or the dreaded "PLAY" button in the middle of class! I also picked this recorder because it has a counter on it to help me match my notes with the tape. I must point out that I was in the second row of my classroom, and the teacher spoke loudly. I had one professor who did not speak as loud, and I have trouble hearing *everything* he says on playback. However, I was impressed that the recorder itself was quiet, and cause minimal "noise" on the tape. I do plan to buy a microphone, however, so that the sound of the tape recorder will not effect the sound as much (for the softer-speaking teacher). I would recommend this recorder and have no regrets in purchasing it. I think it is probably one of the best in it's price range. It should be noted, however, that this recorder takes normal sized tapes, NOT mini-cassettes.
