The mouse also includes a scrolling wheel for those using Windows 95 or higher, making Web surfing and scrolling through long documents simple and fast. Light but solid, the Cordless Wheel Mouse fits comfortably in your hand, and is easy to use for both righties and lefties. The middle button can be used for scrolling, but you can also configure it to double-click, drag-lock, or perform any other function via the MouseWare software. The mouse operates on two AAA batteries, and when the batteries begin to run low, a pop-up box in Windows warns you to replace them soon. Logitech claims the Cordless Wheel Mouse will work up to six feet from the receiver, but we found that it operated well even at 10 feet. (If you're any farther away from your computer, you may not be able to see the monitor!) If you run into radio interference, you can switch between two channels to alleviate any problems. Impressively, we found that the receiver picked up the signal through boxes, telephones, walls, and other obstructions. The Cordless Wheel Mouse is a great alternative to infrared-based mice that require line-of-site with the receiver in order to operate. Pros:
