Summary: Great, but eats batteries
Review: This mouse works great, but it eats batteries like they are going out of style! I have to replace 2 AA's about every 3 months

Summary: this mouse is excelenté
Review: This mouse, though basic, is really, truly, excellent. For me, it is replacing mein apple pro mouse. Not only is it Mac OS X compatible, it is pre-configured; Plug it in and go, nothing to load. The Disk that comes with the package though does not have the OS X package installer on it, however, so if you want to customize the experience (read: Button programing) you will need to load a 10 meg installer from the manufacturer website. Once you have it however, you find yourself wishing for more buttons. All in all, a great mouse, perfect for anybody, power user or newbie, and all that live in between. An excellent upgrade from the monotony that is one button. Indeed.

Summary: Greatest mouse I've used yet!
Review: Unlike the Intellimouse Explorer this mouse has a heavy, solid feel to it. It tracks wonderfully on any surface and it is very comfortable to use. The Explorer is a little too large for most people to comfortably hold, but this Logitech mouse is a perfect size and shape for both right and left handed users.

The buttons and scroll wheel both have an excellent feel to them. The scroll wheel is solid enough so you don't accidentally scroll while using the third button, but it is also smooth enough to be easily used to scroll through long documents. The software that comes with the mouse is small, easy to install, and it provides seemingly endless functionality.

As far as performance is concerned, this mouse is unmatched in smoothness and precision. Other optical mice seem to have problems tracking on certain surfaces and when flicked quickly, but I have yet to experience any tracking errors with this mouse. I have more than doubled my mouse sensitivity settings in all of my games, it is much more precise than any mouse I have ever had before.

Highly recommended!

Summary: Mac and PC Users... Get This Mouse!
Review: While I still love the MS Intellimouse Explorer I use at home on my PC (I have large hands), this is a great mouse! I have used this mouse on PC and Mac and I am pleased with its performance on both platfroms.

The tracking is excellent. As with all optical mice, there can be tracking problems on certain surfaces (glass, shiny, white, etc.) but this is a rare problem. I use it on a plain grey desktop that has almost no disernable pattern and it works perfectly. It will work on just about any mouse pad you throw under it. It even works on your pants leg! In fact, it is the most precise mouse I have ever used in Photoshop and that says it all for me.

Mac users will appreciate the addition of the right and wheel buttons (and the wheel itself.) For some reason, 2 button mice have never caught on in the Mac world, but this (3 button!) mouse has the potential to change all that.

While I like the 2 additional thumb buttons on the Intellimouse Explorer (5 buttons total) which are commonly used for browser navigation, the Mouseware software that comes with the Logitech provides the same functions (and more) using the wheel and its associated button. And, it costs much less than the Explorer.

I can also testify to the fact that this mouse works great using USB or the PS2 adapter (provided).

I know this is irrelevant, but optical mice just look cool, too. If you don't like people bothering you when you work, DON'T GET THIS MOUSE. The last time my input device got so much attention was when I used a light pen on a CAD system (15 years ago!) The next one that attracts this much attention will likely be a "thought control" headset.

BOTTOM LINE: Highly recommended!

Summary: Ok for most....
Review: While this mouse is a good deal compared with others like it, I was most unsatisfied when I attempted to move the mouse quickly or in short bursts. It proceeded to jump around the screen for 3-5 seconds while I tried to get it back under control. It also has trouble on some surfaces-a big minus for laptop users.

Summary: Solid mouse for the price!
Review: You cannot go wrong with this mouse for the price. It's optical, it's got a scroll wheel, it looks cool. Buy it, end of story.
