Summary: Wouldn't trade it for the world
Review: I bought my mouse two years ago when I received a new laptop. My previous mouse was a ball roller that kept getting dirty on me, so I decided to try an optical mouse because I heard they worked a lot smoother. I got mine at a discount price at our local Target store. I brought it home and hooked it up immediately, and put my old mouse away. I loved it! It is very easy to use and the internet back/forward buttons are a blessing because I don't have to move the mouse all over the screen when going back to another page. It moves easily over any surface, but I did find after a while that it began rubbing the surface off my computer desk and thus I had to buy a mouse pad. I hadn't many problems with it until lately. I have noticed that it doesn't want to move as smoothly as it did when I first got it. If I am playing a game, it can make it hard to keep up. I haven't been as careful and gentle with it as I should have though and that may be why. Anyway, I am thinking of getting a new mouse and will definitely buy another one of these optical mouses, but will be more careful this time.

Summary: Great little mouse
Review: I'm not a big Microsoft fan in general, but I can't stop saying good things about their mice and keyboards. This is no exception. It's not shiny or colorful, but none of that matters to me. It's solid and fits my hand like a glove. The scroll wheel is neither too tight nor too loose, making for near-effortless long document scrolling. All five buttons (the wheel itself counts as a button) have a definite audible and tactile click. The optical sensor lives up to the hype. Low- to no-maintenance (sometimes dirt accumulates on the surface, but this in no way affects performance), and you'll appreciate the tactical edge when playing "twitch" games like first-person shooters or touching up pictures in Photoshop.

Installation is a no-brainer. Just plug it in and go. If you want to program the side buttons, the IntelliMouse software install is relatively painless, and configuration is a snap. If only Windows as a whole was like that!

Summary: Great mouse
Review: I'm not sure how everyone else uses a mouse, but unlike Other mice, it is crafted perfectly so your fingers lay just under the buttons. I'm not sure what others are talking about with it clicking accidentally, and buying a mouse for the sole purpose of not having a mouse pad is very odd.

The side buttons are a whiz for back and forward in a web browser, and are compatible with all I've used, even Mozilla Firefox. This mouse has not failed me, it has not worn to any degree I can tell, I've had it for nine months now, it's been nothing but great.

I think people don't hold mice right, Microsoft assumed all people held mice 'correctly' and designed this mouse with that thought in mind, but obvously many don't, so keep that in mind. I personally loved the shape, this is a great mouse for people with larger hands, or, those that like to rest their hand on their mouse. Many mice insist you fully extend your fingers, the Intellimouse allows you to rest your palm atop the mouse, which is in my opinon far more comfortable.

I've never had any issues, I recommend this to those who want something nice, but don't want to dish out fifty for a pricier Logitech.

Summary: Microsoft Optical Mice RULE!!!
Review: I have tried other brands, and keep going back to mice from Microsoft. Microsoft makes the best mice. Very well designed and the Optical mice track perfectly... This mouse is cool, it has the two side buttons that can be set to do different things. It is a very cool mouse... The light on the back glows red and looks cool!

Summary: Great for everything but Windows Server 2003
Review: I really enjoy this mouse. It works great on all Windows OSes except Server 2003. If you have functions assigned to the side buttons and the scroll button, it gets them confused. Scrolling up really fast causes a click on the right-side button and scrolling down really fast causes a click on the left-side button. It also disables the physical use of those two side buttons. If you want it to work right, you can't assign anything to the side buttons.

Hopefully MS will release updated drivers in the near future.

Summary: Best Mouse ever!!!!!
Review: This is the best mouse ever, although i'm not sure that they make a Microsoft Intellimouse Optical that is Wireless, then that would be the best mouse ever... Anyways this mouse is extremely presice, which makes me good at the fps games i play like cs and doom3! Also what makes this mouse superiour is that it has 5 buttons!, most mice have 5 buttons now but this one has 2 on each side and 1 in the middle as opposed to 4 on the left side and so on.... This mouse is better then Vipor Razor whatever mice or andy other type of mouse. And the good thing is it's way cheaper! Also I've had this mouse for 3 years already and i use it daily! Feels like it did 3 years ago! You will not be dissapointed, especially if your looking for a good optical gaming mouse!

Summary: Side buttons annoying
Review: I hated this mouse. The side buttons got in my way (pressed them accidentally) and were awkward to press when I actually wanted to use them. Buy the Logitech Cordless Click mouse instead (especially if you own a Mac).

Summary: on the verge of abandoning extra buttons
Review: This mouse isn't that much better or worse than other optical mice I've tried (Logitech, other Microsoft). The one difference is the extra 2 buttons. Other reviewers have indicated that they take some getting used to. Here's why: no matter how small your hands are, you WILL start off hitting the extra buttons (at least, my whole family did... and I don't think it's genetic). What I can't figure out is how to train yourself to consistently not hit them, esp. the right-side button. I mean, we're not teenage mutant ninja turtles with 4 fingers so it seems the 4th finger in its natural position will always be grazing the right-side button. Okay, it doesn't help that I mapped that right-button to the "close window" function so windows will suddenly close on me every other day or so. Quite annoying. If you want back and forward on Internet pages, I find the "mouse gestures" features of some browsers just as useful, and it works with any mouse. Other browsers have keyboard shortcuts like "z" and "x" for back and forward. Bottom line: Get the basic MS optical mouse without the buttons for cheaper, unless you can really handle the extra buttons. Of course, if you're cost-conscious, don't even try to find out your button dexterity level. After all, if you really like it, you'll have to replace every mouse you use! And STILL get annoyed when using a new terminal. A mouse is a mouse, and shouldn't be a target of annoyance (at least, the non-cheese eating kind).

Summary: Great mouse!
Review: I wound up with this mouse because my previous one was eaten by the cat so it died. Once connected, I just fell in love with this one. It is so much easier to use than a ball mouse and you don't have to clean it, which makes my life tons simpler. My only problem is that the right and left click bars are a little too sensitive so I wind up clicking when I didn't want to. But, other than that, it's just been great and the cat isn't too interested in this one! It has a lot more substantiality than my previous one, is heavier, etc., so it definitely is great quality.
