Summary: Pricey but good
Review: I still can't believe I paid this much for a mouse but it was worth it. I only gave it 4 stars because of the price.

It is very precise and the side buttons are handy once you get use to them. I get really fustrated now when I have to use a conventional mouse. The installation is simple (I used the USB port) and software is simple to use and setup. I hate sending money to Redmond but this is a good product.

Summary: I'm a GAMER with large Hands. If you are same, read on...
Review: Like most people, i got sick of cleaning my mouse. My 6 year old mouse finally started to squeak after too many cleanings. I went out and decided to buy a new mouse. My primary focus was to buy a m mouse for gaming. Unfortunately, this is the wrong mouse. 2 Problems:
Problem 1: When I move the mouse really quickly, the mouse stutters. It can't handle quick, sharp movements. So I need to slow down my movements, or the mouse won't follow.
Problem 2: In trying for an ambi-dextrous design, they have made the mouse uncomfortable not only to left-handers, but also to right handers. I used to use a Logitech Mouseman Wheel. The Roller-Ball version. It fit so snug under my hand. My palm rested flush against the hump of the mouse. In this design, my palm is awkwardly forced to stay elevated above the mouse. Unfortuately, this means my poor-little hand muscles need to be used to maintain that shape. If i use this mouse for more than 15 minutes, my hand aches. I'm afraid i'm going to get carpal-tunnel syndrome if i continue to use this mouse. Nice try, but no cigar Microsoft. I'm gonna go get me a Logitech Mouseman Optical and sell this puppy. If you have small hands and are never going to use this mouse for action-gaming, you should be fine. But otherwise, try the mouseman line from Logitech. I know I'm going to.

Summary: Great....for a week.
Review: When they work they are great. However. This is the second IntelliMouse Optical that I have bought, and again it stopped working after a week or so. I have friends who have bought these and are having the same problems.

Summary: Comfortable to hold, Good performance & Cool. What more ?
Review: I have been using this excellent mouse for over a year now and just love it. Let me go though the pros and cons :

Pros:
1. Its microsoft made and so every version of Windows works very well with the mouse.

2. It has a dual interface: USB if you have a USB port or you can go ahead and use the ps2 adapter which comes with the mouse. If you are not techno savy, all this means is that a PS2 mouse works with every known OS while USB is a little more limited. As I mentioned, this mouse works very well with either.

3. The shape is excellent to hold. I had past problems with repetitive hand injuries and this mouse is very comfortable to hold and work with. Helped reduce pain in the hand as it has natural hand contours. (Right hand)

4. Looks and feels cool. Especially the errie red light that emates from the bottom of the mouse !!!

5. No messy balls to fiddle with and no need to clean on a regular basis !!!

6. The side buttons are very usefull. Some people have companied that they are not good. My solution: Do not use them if you do not like them !!!

Cons:

The technology looks promising. But Im very afraid of damaging the optical components with rash use or even a single drop.

Its a very nice $ to spend for working better and lokking cool at the same time !!!

Summary: Hmm, great mouse... but
Review: Well, I have another review where I gave it 5 stars, and up until today its been a great mouse. But when I sat down to use it tonight all of a sudden any movement faster than average scrolling makes it jitter (not to be confused with how it perviously was where it took a sharp flick of the wrist to cause this). This usually meant that there was a cat hair stuck to where the lens was, but when I looked there was nothing there, I tried cleaning the lens but it didnt help at all. I'm not quite sure what happend, there dont appear to be any scratches on the lens, and It hasnt been dropped. Anyway, this mystery failure means im gonna have to drop only 2 stars, since I dont think anyone else has shared my misfourtune. You should know that up until now this was an excellent mouse, in my mind, the perfect mouse, at least for me. Im gonna go grab the rubbing alchohol again and see if for no particular reason it works after that.

Summary: So much potential, so little delivery..
Review: I've had MS mouses for the longest time.. and they were solid, no frills mice.. but with the new optical series, MS needs to work on some probs.. don't get me wrong, tho.. when I bought this mouse, I got it home, installed it and loved it.. it fits the hands pretty well, the extra buttons make sense and it worked well..... for two days.. then it promptly died.. no cursor movement on screen, no red led lighting up, nada.. after reinstalling it and trying it on my other usb port, it remained hopelessly dead.. this is the 2nd MS optical I've had and they have very short life spans.. they work well when they work.. they just don't work very long... til MS gets their act together, consider me a Logitech convert...

Summary: WAAAAY BETTER THAN A BALL MOUSE
Review: I bought this because the mouse my computer came with, the Microsoft IntelliMouse, had some problems -- the rolling ball became stuck and I'd have a hard time getting the mouse pointer where I wanted it to go. So I bought this mouse, and I haven't had a single problem with it. Another good feature are the "web browsing" buttons on both the right and left. Really cool.

Summary: Very impressive
Review: Love this mouse, feels right in you're hands, glides smoothly, very accurate, and looks great (love the red light). As an avid FPS player, I can attest that I have never come across the stuttering when you move it really fast, I've never found a good reason to move the mouse that fast in game. Overall, its an excellent product... unlike microsofts other endevors.

Summary: Tracks as smooth as a baby's bottom! <g>
Review: I don't know why I waited so long to buy an optical mouse. This thing is great. I love it! <g> And everyone asks about the cool red light, too. Once they find out what the light is and try the mouse for themselves, they want to buy one too! It's really nice not to have a stupid mouse pad taking up space anymore.
