Summary: Cable is VERY SHORT!
Review: I realize that for a laptop you don't need a really long cable. I had this mouse on a laptop and at that time I would have rated it 5 stars. Then I got a desktop instead, and because the tower's on the floor, this mouse's 2-foot-long cord is just not suitable. But because I love the ergonomics of this mouse, I bought a USB hub to connect it to the desktop. (Expensive solution, huh?) It is a really comfortable mouse and I recommend it *if cable length is not an issue.*

Summary: Great, Reliable Mouse
Review: I use this mouse everday with my laptop because I am not a big fan of touchpads.

Pros:
1. Size - Because this mouse is used with the laptop, you probably do not want a full sized mouse to carry around with you. Doesnt take long at all to get used to the smaller sized mouse.
2. Quality- Well built, when you click it feels like a click. havent had problems when using the mouse.

Cons
1. Noise- when you are in a quiet area, and scrolling the mouse wheel, people are going to notice because it is LOUD! If you scroll up or down, "click..click..click..click..click.."
2. Plastic pads- On the bottom of the mouse there are selectively placed, plastic pads so that the mouse will glide over smooth surfaces. I dont know if it is just mine but, it tends to scrape across the surface sometimes, I believe that the plastic pads may have worn out on one area. The scraping is pretty irritating when it occurs.

Summary: Great, Reliable Mouse
Review: I use this mouse everday with my laptop because I am not a big fan of touchpads. If you own a laptop, then you should definately consider this mouse as an accessory.

Pros:
1. Size - Because this mouse is used with the laptop, you probably do not want a full sized mouse to carry around with you. It does not take long to get used to the smaller sized mouse. It's actually very comfortable. Besides, the small size makes it very portable.
2. Quality- Well built, when you click it feels like a click. havent had problems when using the mouse. I have not had any problems with erratic pointing behavior at all. It performs as it should without a hitch.

Cons
1. Noise- when you are in a quiet area, and scrolling the mouse wheel, people are going to notice because it is LOUD!
2. Plastic pads- On the bottom of the mouse there are selectively placed, plastic pads so that the mouse will glide over smooth surfaces. I dont know if it is just mine but, it tends to scrape across the surface sometimes, I believe that the plastic pads may have worn out. The scraping is pretty irritating when it occurs. One of the pads fell off and I had to glue it back on.

Conclusion: If i had to do it all over again, I probably would purchase this mouse again. Even with the small faults listed above, it is a great mouse.

Summary: Surprisingly good
Review: I've been looking for optical mouse for my notebook for a very long time, and finally I've got this little beauty.I agree with all reviewers-this is a really small mouse, and it takes a little effort to get use to it-but it's really worth it-mice itself is well thought out and nicely built, and most importantly-it's comfortable to work with for a long time, regardless of a fact that I do have big hands, and if you looking for a great laptop mouse-this one is right for you.

Summary: Very good mouse -- a little too small
Review: I've owned Microsoft mice since the first one came out. I currently own an Intellimouse Explorer (MS's first optical mouse) and love it.

Since I just bought a laptop computer and my Intellimouse Explorer has trouble working through USB (broken cable??) I decided to purchase a smaller USB mouse. PCMag gives great ratings to this Notebook Optical Mouse and so did many Amazon.com users, which made the decision much easier.

The mouse is great: very precise, solid clicking and a thin cable. My laptop has 3 USB ports, one on back and one on each side so the short cable (27 in.) is not a problem to me.

This mouse is really small and easy to put away with your laptop. This, however, is the only shortcoming I found. The mouse is actually almost too small, although I'm already getting used to it and feel "weird" when I use my desktop's larger mouse. It measures: 3-1/2" long x 2" wide x 1-1/4" tall.

Installation is a no brainer. I run Windows XP Home and only had to connect the USB cable to my laptop and was mousing right away.

The mouse has a left and right button, plus a large scroll wheel that can act as a third button. It glows red when you use it (the sides and wheel are made of a translucent red material).

Overall, like most Microsoft mice, this one is a great buy though you might want to try it out first if you have large hands - in that case, you may be better of with a larger desktop mouse.

Summary: Great little smart looking mouse
Review: If you want a cool, efficient and compact laptop mouse, don't look any further. I got it as a gift and immediately plugged it in and started going as it is a "plug-and-play" device.
It will work on any surface and with minimal space available (like the bottom corner of the laptop, for example) and with only 60 cm. of cord aprox it is a great mobile solution to carry everwhere you go. Overall, it is a great device. Could be cheaper though, but then again, hey, I got it as a gift!!!

Summary: Excellent traveling mouse :)
Review: My hands and shoulders ache from being contorted using a notebook pointing stick (I hate touchpads :). I decided a small mouse was the solution. I ...had two choices: this one or an IBM variety. I chose this one because it felt better.

After using it I offer the following observations and thoughts:
1) Highly Recommended!!!
2) Optical is the only way to go.
3) Feels like the usual good Microsoft mouse quality
4) Easy to use
5) Small? Duh! If I wanted to carry a full size mouse I would have purchased a full size Microsoft optical mouse. Yes it is a little smaller -- approximately 2/3 as large -- than my full-sized mouse. Yes it takes a slight adjustment when using. I have to adjust between my mouse at home and the one at work, too. Life is full of adjustments. Thank God! Actually it probably does your hands good to be in a different position than usual. I'm a decent sized guy (6'0") and have good sized hands. I find this mouse comfortable enough and easy to use. MUCH better than the pointing stick alternative.
6) Ergonomics are good and are MUCH better than most mice of this size.
7) I do miss the ability to program the center button click to be Maximize like I usually do. The sacrifices we make :)
8) It is light. Would easily fit into a pocket in your slacks (if you have a pocket :) or jacket.

Bottom line: Buy without reservation...

Summary: possible to program buttons
Review: This is a great little mouse and contrary to what Microsoft says on its website, it is possible to program the buttons using their Intellimouse software. There is no option for Notebook Mouse but you can just choose Wheel Mouse Optical instead and it works perfectly. The only problem is that the scroll button on mine is quite sticky so that when you program that button to do other things, it's easy to click it by accident when you just want to scroll. In the end, I didn't find being able to program the buttons that handy (since there are only 3 in total) but it was nice to be able to use the other programable functions. About the size, I am a small woman so I bought it because it's the perfect size for my hands! But I do have very small hands. I use it as my desktop mouse with a USB extension cable I bought separately. It is quick and accurate and very light.

Summary: A great mouse...if you can make it work
Review: This is a very comfortable mouse for those with small hands. I wish I could use it. On my Win 2000 notebook, the driver was recognized right away and I was able to use the mouse with no problem. But on my XP Pro notebook, the software couldn't find the driver and an extensive search of Microsoft's dreadful support pages failed to turn up a driver. So I'm reluctantly going to return this mouse and look for a different one. You might think that a Microsoft mouse would work with a Microsoft OS. Go figure.
