Summary: How did i live without one for so long?
Review: I have purchased several mice in the last few years, all of them were track ball. Even with thorough cleaning they were not accurate enough for the graphics programs I use. I never knew that a mouse could be so versatile. This Logitech infrared wheel mouse is a must for anyone who does "Fine work" on a computer!

Summary: Not Compatible with Docking Stations
Review: I called Logitech about the way the scrolling was not working, and they attributed the problem to the fact that I was hooking it up to a laptop through a docking station. (Dell Inspiron)

I love the look and feel of the mouse, and the button action feels good, but I really wanted the scroll wheel to work.

Summary: Those willing to make a change will be pleased.
Review: First of all, please do not purchase this mouse if you EXPECT the same feel and workings of your old "round ball" mouse. Optical mice are much more precise and sensitive.

I see a lot of reviews here stating that a slight mouse move shoots the cursor from one end of the screen to the other and that it is difficult to operate. I do not know why Amazon does not monitor customer responses more closely, as this is something that takes two seconds to alter. Just go into your control panel and change your sensitivity levels on the mouse, (you can also change double clikc speed as well).

The key reason I have upgraded my computers with this optical mouse is three fold.

1) Any hand size will feel comfortable using this mouse. Microsoft is a little big for smaller hands.

2) Personaly I like tho have the mouse to have some weight to it, not that this mouse is heavy or anything, but I did not really see the point of the "light as a feather" approcah Microsoft took with its optical mice.

3) I despise having to replace my older non-optical mice every year, it was simply not worth it in the long run. I have not only had no issues with this mouse, but I no longer have to use the q-tip and air spray cleaning method every month to keep performance.

Would HIGHLY recommend this mouse, definatly worth it.

Summary: A good first mouse, not a great mouse
Review: There has been a plethora of glowing reviews concerning this optical mouse and most have been deserved. I will be redundant to a certain extent by praising the price and the optical technology that this mice offers. With that being said, i found this mouse undeserving of a 4 star or 5 star product. The first gripe I found in this product is the buttons on the mice itself. It is not a solid click that is found on all other logitech or microsoft mice. It seems like you the buttons are not as crisp when you depressed on them, making it seem like you need to expend more energy in clicking. The scroll wheel is a bit notchy and while it is fine for most documents, people who demand precision and want smooth scroll wheels should avoid this model. The mouse is a little too light because the cord can move the mouse itself if you leave it unattended, but i found the lightweight refreshing because I use it as a notebook mouse. The construction feels very cheap because of the plastic used and the weightlessness but judging from prior experience with logitech products, they are reliable. In case you are wondering, the warranty is outstanding on logitech products compared to other competitors, namely, microsoft. Those are the negative things i found that kept the mouse from a higher rating. I especially love the logitech mouse software that came with it, and remember, it is not a required software to enable the mouse. It is truly plug and play for people with USB macs or pcs. But by installing the software, you gain additional functionality for the three buttons. The color is simplistic enough to garner attention but not something so garrish that it looks ugly or cheap. Just to note, the logitech software that came along with the product has already been updated. 9.4 is the lastest version, available on the logitech website. If you are looking for a cheap first mouse, notebook mouse, or a temporary replacement, then this mouse with its modern optical technology and price can't be beat. This mouse is ambidextrous, for lefties and righties and tend to fit people with small hands better. If you are looking at it for ergonomics and a permanent replacement, then i suggest you look at the higher end models in logitech's line or Microsoft's intellimouse explorer. They are unfortunately geared towards righties and carry a higher price tag.

Summary: This is one great mouse!
Review: I've been using this product at work for several weeks. It has to be one of the most pleasant mousing experiences I've had. The tracking is true, and I've never run into any skips. The addition of programmable buttons makes it even better. I was going to hold out for the Apple Optical Mouse, but I started using the non-optical version of this mouse and got hooked. Then I upgraded to this optical and have never regretted the choice. I spend between 7 and 10 hours in front of a computer everyday and this mouse has to be one of the best investments that I've made.

Summary: The end of the trackball -- and good riddance!
Review: I'm at the computer several hours a day, so every couple of months, my current mouse "slows down" and the trackball needs cleaning. Out come the alcohol and q-tips -- what a pain. In theory, then, if this mouse works as well as a "regular" mouse while solving this problem, it's already taken five stars in my book.

I'm glad to report that (so far, at least) the theory matches the reality here; the Logitech Optical model mouse really delivers, and I've already decided I'm never going back to the old mouse-with-a-ball model. Functionally, the optical reader works great -- we tested the surface-reader on the CARPET and it worked smoothly and consistently, and it won't trap gunk over time like the trackball models will. The scrolling wheel option is well-placed, ergonomically speaking, for the middle finger, even if this is not one of those fancy "ergo" mice (even better, IMHO, as this one doesn't require learning a whole new way of using the mouse), and the red glow coming from the bottom is attractive and space-age/high-tech-looking. Cost is low, too -- so what are you waiting for?!

Summary: VeryGood Product!!
Review: The mouse work wonderfull specially because you forget about it, it will never start working wrong because it doesn't get stuck anyware with anything! the only problem is when you have to format your thisk and reinstall windows, since it's a USB device you need an old ps2 or serial mice to do the dirty installation job.

Summary: Great mouse! great price, and no more cleaning
Review: I bought this mouse in Best Buy a couple days ago and I love it. No more dirt on the tracking ball and the red light that reads the surface make it look like a high tech mouse.

Also, the scrolling option is very useful for browsing and the other ad-ons like the web wheel give the mouse more funtions.

Better options?? yep, the ergonomic ones, but this one does the job for a great price.

Summary: Balless Wonder
Review: My old ball mouse started acting weird, so I thought I'd upgrade. I'm glad I did. This thing is smooth. Unlike conventional mice there is almost no resistance when moving it around. It's very precise. Don't listen to anyone who still likes mice with balls, they're living in the past. For the price I would have to highly recommend this.
