Summary: Great for about 6 months..
Review: I purchased this mouse about 6 months ago when they were on sale at the local electronics store. Everything went fine, installed without a hitch and even came with a USBtoPS2 adapater which works fine. I really like the extra button on each side of the mouse. This is very handy for navigating forwards and backwards through web pages, or you can set it to copy and paste or any other key combination through the software provided by Microsoft.

However, earlier tonight those 2 buttons I count on for so much stopped working. I rebooted, reinstalled the mouse drivers, did the usual routine. Still no dice.

Why not 1 star? I called up Microsoft and they're going to send me a replacement if I fax over a copy of the bottom of the mouse. So at least they're taking care of a customer. So I love this mouse, but it has failed me in my hour of need ;) Hopefully I just got a mouse from a bad batch, since I wasn't able to find many people online with this same problem.

Summary: A mouse that works!
Review: If i was stuck on an island and i could only use one mouse, this would be it. The optical technology works much better than the old rollerball type mice. Also the buttons on the right and left side are really useful when surfing the internet, they let you go back and forward. Plus, left handed people can use it, or people who are right handed, but who use their left hand when using mice.

Summary: Another Mouse
Review: This mouse is easy to install and it basicaly works without installing the new driver. It is nice that it come with both PS2 and USB connector. I used the PS2 connection to save my USB connection for future use. This mouse is good size for my kid but a little small for me and my hands are normal size. The additional two mouse buttons are nice but I always hit them by mistake. I may disable them if I still hit them by mistake. The mouse movement is perfect and I do not need a mouse pad any more ! Only one complaint, the rolling button is too tight and not smooth. Over time, my fingers will be much stronger :-) Over all, I gives it a 4 stars.

Summary: GREAT PRODUCT
Review: The Intellimouse Optical is one of the best mice i have used. although i am usually not a fan of Microsoft products, so far this one has exceeded my expectations. The mouse never skips no matter what surface i use or how fast i move it. The Forward/back buttons are helpful and fully customizable.

Summary: software problem -- 4th and 5th buttons may not work
Review: When I installed the mouse, the 4th and 5th buttons (for forward/back web browsing) did not work. The problem was that the software that came with the mouse (IntelliPoint 4.1) would not let me configure the 4th and 5th buttons (the default configuration for these buttons was web scrolling). The readme.txt file that came with the mouse said that the 4th and 5th buttons may not work with Windows XP and NT and may behave unpredictably. I am using Windows ME, so maybe this OS should be added to that list. The box said that the mouse works with these operating systems, so it's unacceptable that the auxiliary buttons did not work! I couldn't find any patches on the Microsoft website. I got the extra buttons to work when I instead used the mouse driver software that came with a generic 5-button mouse that I had. Anyway, it's pretty bad that the cheesy software that came with a generic mouse works better with Windows ME than Microsoft's own mouse software.

Summary: Great Product, High Quality, High Price.
Review: Though the price of these devices are hefty, they do work well, and put an indefinite end to the "ball" problem of primitive mice!

As a graphics artist i found that using a mouse (with the traditional ball) was annoying, and hampered my work (in a measure of time) by more than a degree that it was worth for me to live with it.

I found the Intelli mouse and have since never looked back.

The side buttons are perfectly ergonomic, and serve a multitude of purposes. I use mine for back and forward buttons. The middle scroller is a must, and as expected the optical technology is unsurpassed.

4 stars: not 5 because it has a cord... (ok gettin' picky now)

Summary: Best mouse for navigating
Review: The left and right (Web browser Back and Forward) buttons make this a dream to use for surfing. Had to have another for my second machine. I even take it travelling. The wheel is a touch better quality than most too.

Summary: excellent value
Review: The best mouse ever! Excellent resolution and response for gaming. If you play with the lights off, the red light from the illuminator may be annoying, but it just takes some time to get used to it. The extra two buttons are great for surfing the net(go back and forward). Great piece of hardware at an unbeatable price.

Summary: Perfect
Review: This is perfect for what I need it to do. The mouse hasn't given me any problems at all. Perfect, no more dust balls stopping the ball like my previous mice. I had a wireless optical before this one but had to replace the batteries too often so it wasn't worth it at all. I Love this one, go buy one!

Summary: There is no reason to keep your first mouse. UPGRADE!
Review: I just received this mouse for Xmas, and let me tell you, not only did I get what I expected from an optical mouse, but some added bonuses that I never thought of. First, the wheel(the thing between the right and left mouse buttons)functions are great--it allows you to scroll easilly instead of having to hold down the left mouse button and drag the screen down. you can even depress the wheel and the screen will either scroll up or down with varying speed without dragging the mouse. Those functions are nothing compared to the added buttons on either side of the mouse that are assigned to the 'back' and 'forward' funtions while on the internet or other aplications that can use them. All in all, much less movement involved and much less wrist fatigue. Excellent product.
