Summary: Happy So Far...
Review: I've only had this thing for a couple of days, but as my entre into the world of wireless input devices, I'd have to say I'm pretty happy. I was originally in the market for a ergonomic keyboard/mouse combo, but I couldn't find a set that came with a fully featured mouse. All the wireless options, MS or Logitech, came with standard 3 button mice. I think the MS Bluetooth came with what I was looking for but was way out of my price range, & the reviews weren't inspiring confidence. Seeing as my current keyboard wire wasn't bothering me, I opted to stick with that & invest my $$$ in the MX700. Installation went fine. I was a bit baffled by how they expect you to use the mouse to install the software when the mouse itself is not yet installed. I used keyboard shortcuts and that worked fine. I assume you could leave your old PS2 mouse connected, or if I had experimented I might have found that the mouse was functioning, just not with all its features. Either way, I'm not reading any other complaints, so I assume I just overcomplicated the issue. The software came with a bunch of extras. I assume most people will be satisfied with a bare minimum install or downoloading the most recent drivers from Logitech. I went for the whole mess, played the games for a little while and ultimately ended up disabling most everything but the basic driver software. I found the default settings a bit to snappy for my taste, but adjusted them easily to my liking. So far, HAPPY with my purchase!

Summary: Excellent, with one draw back
Review: I own one of the first MX700 mice, so keep in mind that my review reflects performance experienced and the caveat may not be for the current version of the mouse (after all, manufactures like to quietly fix problems with their products as they go).+/- of the mouse: +Excellent performance in all areas. Online gaming did not suffer at all, and this is on a slower system where any lag would be most noticeable. +Comfortable, with useful extra buttons laid out in a logical fashion. Mouseware software makes setting it up pretty painless. +Pretty darn sturdy. I've dropped it once or twice without incident and it's holding up very well. There have been no issues with the buttons becoming stuck or wearing out due to use. The material on the mouse that gives it such a nice feel also hasn't flaked on me. -Early versions of mouseware that shipped with the mouse made it difficult to program the extra buttons for online gaming. Apparently this was fixed in later software versions and should no longer be an issue. -The contacts in the base and on the mouse have started to wear out making it more difficult to seat the mouse in the cradle to get it to charge properly. The contacts wear a small spot off exactly where they usually sit which requires more fidgeting than I really would want to do. That's about it. If you really need a wireless mouse, the MX700 is likely one of the best wireless mice out there. Also, Logitech is offering a packed deal where you get the mouse and a cordless keyboard for a little more.

Summary: So glad I ordered this!
Review: I LOVE my new logitech cordless optical mouse. Our old mouse was really worn out and did not operate properly no matter how we cleaned the little ball, so I took a chance and splurged on an optical mouse. I am so glad I did! The new mouse is fabulous! It is SO comfortable in the hand. There is no "little ball" to mess with, get stuck, or need to be cleaned. Also, the batteries are totally rechargable. When not in use it simply slips into its cradle much like a cordless phone. I have been able to mouse for hours before recharging was needed. It recharges in mere minutes, and there is even an LED indicator light to let you know when full power has been restored. As a bonus, there are a few extra buttons that make internet surfing quicker and more efficient. And it looks really cool, too. ;-) In my opinion (and that of both husband and daughter), this mouse was well worth the extra cash (vs. buying a "standard" replacement mouse).

Summary: AWESOME MOUSE
Review: The Logitech MX700 does NOT disappoint. The installation was a snap. I set it up, let the included batteries charge overnight and I was good to go. The batteries last quite some time. It was a bit of a change to place the mouse in the recharging cradle nightly, but once you get used to it, it's a no brainer. The mouse works well on all surfaces, including solid black. My MS Intellimouse Optical refused to track on my black desktop. Performance is second to none. If you are looking for a full featured, realiable wireless mouse, you will find it with the Logitech MX700.

Summary: My Experiences - Not Fact , just my own experience
Review: This is more of an FYI review to possibly help others with this mouse. 1) Mouse is heavier than what you might be use to.
2) Hook up to USB. Creates a better connection.
3) Doesnt seem to like the 'normal' mousepad. I found the 3M Precise mousepad creates a better connection. By connection I mean, mouse movement and cursor 'match.'
When hooked up to mouse port, cursor seemed to have a mind of its own, same with 'regular' mousepad. 4) Get into the habit of putting mouse in the battery charger when you leave the computer - even if for a few minutes. When I 'forgot' to do this, all of a sudden the mouse stopped working and I recieved a message 'mouse needs charging.' Believe me when I say I sat there staring quite stupidly at the screen with a 'what now' question in my head. Luckily a few minutes on the charger seems to be all it needs to get moving again. Summary: Good Mouse
Review: I traded up from a MS Optical Wheel Mouse to this cordless model. The MS mouse is the most comfortable mouse I've ever used. This one has a different design, and after a week of use I'm still getting used to it. I imagine that the weight of the mouse is caused by the two batteries and the RF circuitry, but it's easily twice as heavy as the MS mouse. However, I'm hooked on the two buttons above and below the scroll wheel. They scan up and down at the press of a button, leaving the scroll wheel for smaller adjustments. This is a great feature. My fingers now automatically hunt for these buttons whenever I'm using a different mouse. The pointer movement on the screen is not as smooth or accurate as with my MS mouse, but maybe I need to fiddle a little more with the software. (edit: I solved the accuracy problem by deleting the Logitech Mouseware software and just using the generic XP mouse drivers. Much better.) Overall, I like the cordless aspect of it, and the recharger built into the RF base makes so much sense I can't believe no one else has it. Until MS comes out with a version with a recharger, this is the cordless mouse to buy.

Summary: works... sometimes
Review: I upgraded to this mouse from the ms intellimouse explorer after it died, and I'd have to say this mouse is a bit of a mixed bag. I immediately noticed that this mouse is smoother and more precise than my old mouse, and it has more buttons, and since it's cordless I don't have to worry about cords getting tangled and sending my mouse flying across the room (as would sometimes happen with my corded mouse... don't ask). So that's the good part.
But there's always a 'but'. This mouse doesn't work on as many surfaces as my old mouse, which annoys me to no end as I don't have a mousepad and don't plan on spending money for something optical technology was supposed to banish into obsolescence. I liked the ability of my old mouse to work on my pant leg as I sit back from the computer- this mouse can only sometimes do that. It's pretty unpredictable. It also sometimes randomly starts mistracking and skipping around, which my old mouse rarely did. Also, occasionally the special buttons (any buttons other than left and right click) will refuse to work, and I have to restart the computer to get them to work. And be aware that the wireless technology will limit placement options... the receiver/recharger pod needs to be near an electrical outlet, but not near your monitor, tower, printer, speakers, etc. This was frustrating in my house, which has limited outlets, and it took a lot of experimentation to find a placement solution that would work.
These issues may not be present for people who don't live in areas where the airwaves are crowded (I live near countless radio and TV towers, and I and my neighbors use wireless networking, which may explain some of the problems I mentioned above). If you have any friends who own this mouse, and are considering getting one yourself, I would recommend trying out their mouse on your computer first, to see how you like it and whether it responds OK. If that's not an option... well, it's your choice. If you absolutely have to have wireless technology, then get this mouse and hope for the best, since it's probably the best wireless choice. If it's possible to use corded technology, I would definitely use that instead. Wireless can be unpredictable.

Summary: Deathtrap
Review: This mouse is exceedingly heavy. Like a cartoon anvil crushing the oft ill-fated coyote, this mouse crushed my cat, Professor Kitty McFuzziesworth. [Yes, I am fully aware of the irony]. However, unlike the cartoon desert scavenger, Prof. McFuzz did not emerge comically resembling a hairy slinky. He did not emerge at all. And the furry mess left behind was certainly not amusing.

Summary: No, the price is not excessive
Review: Some people may say they'd never pay for how much I paid for this mouse. I say so what? I can control this mouse from 10 feet away with NO performance issues. I have owned this mouse for about a month now, and I see SUCH VAST IMPROVEMENT over my last optical mouse, a microsoft intelieye explorer mouse. It was good, but it was four years old and it skipped a lot while playing games. I felt it was time to upgrade, and this mouse will last me a LONG TIME! The battery is something to kill for, it can last for over 3 days without being recharged. I do, however, recommend that you put the mouse in the docking bay when you are not using it, because if you run out of power accidentally, you will be spending a while recharging it. The DPI rate on this mouse is incredible, the numbers are as high as any high-end chorded mouse. I appologize, but I cannot give the exact DPI rate, as I don't remember it. This mouse is asthetically pleasing and it is heavy, feeling a LOT better in quality. You may be thinking that you BETTER be getting quality for the price you are paying for this mouse. I reply: "You are getting your money's worth, and more". This mouse will last you a lifetime and it is wireless at the same time. It is a mouse to kill for!

Summary: Perfect upgrade mouse
Review: I saw this in my Gold Box and my impulses got the better of me. This mouse is a perfect upgrade for the standard boring mouse with a cord and a roller ball. The extra features like fwd and back and cruise control are very handy but even without these, the mouse would still be worth the price. It fit perfectly in my hand and the factory settings meant I could use it without any tweaking. The setup time on Win XP was about 10 mins by following the extremely simple instructions. This would make a perfect gift for any computer user.
