Summary: The Next Generation of Cordless Optical Mice have Arrived...
Review: In the form of this MX700, Logitech has left nothing to the imagination and no detail unanswered. This mouse addresses all of the inadequacies of their previous versions as well as their competition: 1) poor refresh/response rates 2) short battery life, and 3) lack of buttons/features.

I've been searching for the "Holy Grail" of wireless mice for years, upgrading every year to test out the hottest technology. My latest mouse was the Logitech Mouseman Optical that came bundled with the Cordless Freedom bundle. It performed reasonably well, the only reason I stuck with it was because it was cordless, but overall it was unresponsive, heavy, and ripped through AA batteries. There's nothing worse than having to replace battles in the middle of an online game.

The MX700 is the best upgrade I've made to my desktop in all the years I've owned a computer. I've never been a big fan of buying rechargeables and chargers, since they seem to get outdated at the same rate as peripherals, so the MX700 has me covered there. The charging crade is so convenient, it fits nicely next to my Sony NR70 Hotsync cradle and quickly charges up my mouse. It'll take some time to get used to placing it on the cradle every time I'm done using it, but it sure beats replacing batteries every 2 weeks. Also, the AC Adapter is nicely integrated into the USB connector, which results in 1 less wire running up to your desktop.

Response time is excellent, no visible tracing or lagging on screen and excellent refresh rates in all types of games. The weight and contour of the MX700 are greatly improved over the Mouseman Optical. Its like gripping a baseball compared to a softball. The MX700 just slides into your palm and has some extra buttons for web browsing and such. I'm not sure you can configure these extra buttons or not in games, but that would certainly be a bonus. The thumb browsing buttons are a bit awkward at first b/c they are set back so far, but you get used to it rather quickly. All buttons worked for me in Win2K Pro and I didn't install the Mouseware software.

My only other bit of advice is to get a nice, large mousepad, b/c you will find yourself forgetting you have a cordless optical mouse in your hand, which makes it easy to run it off a mousepad. :)

Summary: Go buy it!!
Review: Another wonderful product from the pioneers of wireless optical mouse & keyboards. I have used Logitech's previous "cordless optical mouse" for more than a year and have been extremely happy with its performance. The only reason I upgraded to MX700 was the unbelievable [$$$] price at Amazon.com! And its worth every penny. The tracking is great and I found no interference even if had other electronic devices close by.

The mouse is slightly big for me...but its features outweigh the size. I love the cruise up/down, switch application, back/forward and the option for a "close Application" feature. After just 3 days of use I am totally addicted to the cruise down button, back button and the close application button. Whenever a pop up window shows up, I just move my mouse over the window and hit the "Close Application" Button and boom its gone!

The battery life is about 2 days ....so its better to charge it alternate days. Just put it on the charger when you go to sleep....charging the batteries before its fully discharged does not lower the battery life. You can find excellent information on the battery use and maintanance at Logitech website: Locate MX700 Mice in logitech.com and look under support- FAQ.

This is the best mouse I have used and I highly recommend this product.

Summary: Easy to install and works great with my laptop
Review: I purchased this for my Toshiba Satellite running Win XP. Logitech continues to live up to it's reputation for great products. This was easy to install and enjoyable to use. I think I'll try Logitech's wireless Keyboard next, if it's a good as this mouse I know I'll be one satisfied customer.

Summary: Response to battery concern
Review: Many users reviewed this unit. Many of them had a concern about the mouse battery tends to wear off completely if not place back into its charging cradle overnite. This is completely true. When I opened the box, I immediately notice the rechargable batteries that came with the unit is cheapo generic unknown brand type. Those batteries looks like those you would find in a 99cents store. I didn't even bother to put them into the mouse. Instead, I replace them with a better known brand (Sony). The result is noticable. Had left my mouse out of the its cradle for a nite, and its still working on the following day.

Summary: Exquisite
Review: This is a must have mouse. The extra bottons give you great command when browsing the web or any other application. Moreover, you don't feel that you are using a cordless mouse because of the high sampling rate.

Summary: Best mouse/deal I have seen in a LONG time
Review: A have had this mouse about a week now and there is all kinds or info Logitech never tells your and no one else has mention.

#1 The book tells you to not place the base close to anything!
This is bull, I have my base about 3 feet from me sitting on top the computer case under my desk that has my printer, scanner, and ham radio "kind of like a CB" and it works great!

#2 They tell you the base is a charger but nothing else.
The base is a QUICK charger! When you get the mouse the batteries are dead but only take 20min TOPs to get a FULL charge. If the red light blinks just put in charger and get some coffie, it will run for Hours. with only a 2 or 3 min charge

The base will also turn the charger off when not needed and there is a light on the mouse that will blink red about 2hrs before they go dead.

With the . . . mail in from Logitech for buying from Amazon.com this a great deal.
Still have questions? . . .

Summary: Performance that leaves you asking wheres the cord
Review: This thing is great. Ive had a MS intellmouse explorer for a couple of years now and that has been the best mouse ive used till I got this one. Within one hour of using it, I was ready to buy one for every computer I own. Quicker than i ever expected for gaming and very comfortable.

Summary: GREAT MOUSE, mediocre software
Review: The mouse itself is great. Never had a wireless mouse before to compare to, but this mouse is nearly identical in response to my wired mouse i used before this one. The only difference is if the mouse goes idle, the next time u move the mouse the movement is delayed (to conserve power i presume). As for battery life, my computer is on nearly 24/7 and the batteries are fine as long as put the mouse in the cradle at night before i goto bed (sometimes it doesn't even charge just turns the mouse off). If i happen to forget to cradle the mouse, the batteries can usually get me through most of the rest of the day.

As for the software, if you are a gamer don't bother installing it. The only noticable disadvantage to not installin the software is u loose the functionality of the switch program button. Without the software the switch program button cannot be used at all (in games or windows). With the program installed, all buttons function properly, but only mouse buttons 1 and 2 can be bound. (middle mouse button can be bound if you change it from auto-scroll to middle mouse)

The mouse is pretty comfortable to hold and use. It is a little on the heavy side, which takes a few hours to get used to. The mouse works very nicely on my cloth mouse pad, and i've had no problems with precision (mouse sensitivity takes a little working to find a comfortable level)

Overall this is a quality mouse that is well worth it, with software that is lacking for gamers. Great replacement for my wired mouse.

Summary: It just keeps getting better.
Review: I thought I had arrived at true Nirvana when I bought my Logitech cordless, optical mouse last year. It was a great combination of features and reliability, with the only real drawback being the need to change batteries in the mouse about once a month (whereas the keyboard needs new cells about twice a year!). Now along comes the MX700, with an improved optical engine for even greater accuracy, an extra programmable side button (I used my single side button for "Internet page back"; the 2nd button now works well for me as a "home" shortcut) and best of all, a cradle to recharge the batteries and avoid the one drawback I had found with the original mouse. This is truly Nirvana.
