Summary: The best, no frills optical mouse
Review: If you're looking for a basic, no frills optical mouse that has a wheel, go with the Logitech Optical Mouse.

This mouse is a standard at my workplace, because:
- The price is close to a non-optical mouse with similar features
- Processes more images per second than the competition, so it's ideal for games too (other first gen optical mice lose accuracy when you move the mouse really fast and end up moving the mouse pointer in a random direction)
- Easy setup. Just plug and play.
- Very durable, stood up to constant abuse we give it.

And for the other reviewers than mention this, please don't knock this mouse because it doesn't work as well on a shiny surface. Optical mice (including this one and all the others) are not designed to work on a shiny surface, so go get yourself one of the millions of mousepads in existance that does not have this property.

Summary: Amazing optical mouse @ low price!
Review: Just like most of the other reviewers I was sick of my "ball" mouse getting gunk in it. Sure, I could open it up and clean it, but all of the gunk never seemed to come out. Finally, I just got fed up with it. After reading reviews on optical mice on the cheaper end of the spectrum I ended up getting this one. I love it! I do a lot of photo editing with Photoshop and you need to have an acurate mouse. Before it was a pain to do close-up editing. Now it's a piece of cake. This mouse, as of yet doesn't have any of the problems jumping around the screen that other op-mice have. The only "problem" is getting used to how fast it moves because movement isn't dependent upon the friction of the ball against the mouse pad. After just 24 hrs, though, I'm over that lil problem.

Summary: Freedom from Cleaning
Review: My old ball mouse was constantly getting "roller gunk". With pets in the house (the cats get on the computer desk) this was a problem. I had to clean the mouse weekly. This optical mouse has no moving parts on the bottom, so the cleaning chores are gone. It works with or without a pad, so you can free up desktop space (and keep your cats!).

Summary: Amazing mouse for use with my Macs
Review: My old mouse gave out, probably due to all the gunk that had built up on the ball. I looked at several here on Amazon and was impressed with the reviews for this one. The price is awesome and the mouse works like a dream. There is no choppy movement like you get with a ball mouse, and best of all you won't have to clean out the gunk. I use this mouse with my iMac and my iBook and couldn't be any happier with its performance. The positive reviews speak for themselves...this mouse is a must have.

Summary: Love the LED!!
Review: My workplace tends to get VERY dusty and therefore the old mouse ball had to be cleaned out at least once per week - thought it would be a good idea to go LED. I love not having to clean it every week and the sensitivity/accuracy is phenomenal. Have a much better control over my mousing.

Summary: A little jumpy
Review: Not sure how you review a mouse -- either it works or it doesn't. This one does, usually. The wheel is especially helpful and I love the fact that I don't need a mousepad.

On the other hand, I've noticed that the optical stuff occasionally gets messed up, sending my pointer flying into the corner of my screen even when I only make a small move with the mouse. It appears to be related to the surface that I use the mouse on -- oddly enough, it happens a lot more when I use a mousepad! I think that's just how optical mice work.

I'd buy it again. Heck, I did buy it again.

Summary: 2-button mouse kludged to act as 3-button mouse
Review: Take a close look at the picture before ordering this--it's only got two real buttons. The scroll wheel is used as the middle button, which is quite awkward.

Summary: Battery sucker, but pro and precise
Review: The only problem with this mouse is it is a battery sucker. goes through batterys in a couple months. It needs a mouse on and off button to conserve battery life when not in use. Once that little red light comes on you better have batteries ready. This mouse is heavier than most standard mouses. However if you don't move the mouse within a couple mins, it locks up,(standby), for a few seconds and skrolls again. it Only one time so far the data of the mouse got corrupted and I had to go to the Kensington website to download the software because I lost my cd.

The good thing about it, its precise, as it says. You can still be 5 feet away and use the mouse backwards and its still precise. This mouse is worth it to buy because of its accurancy and doesn't skip. If you ARE LAZY, you can skroll the mouse on your pant leg or on a bed. heh.
