Rating: Summary: The Ultimate in Palm Computing Review: If you own a palm m125, m130 & m500 series PDA, you MUST get this keyboard. It makes inputing data onto your PDA a breeze. The design is awesome and it folds away really nicely. It accompanies me everywhere I go in lieu of my laptop. I can type e-mail messages rather than rely on using graphity to write making the Palm much more usable and powerful. Typing notes, editing documents with Documents to Go make this keyboard indispensable. Furthermore, Amazon.com has the best price anywhere in the country. You'll save [money] by ordering it from Amazon and if you time it right, you can take advantage of free shipping and handling. What more could you ask for?
Rating: Summary: Perfect expandable addition to Palm Review: Reluctantly I've been converting from paper to my new Palm m105. While I have gotten grafitti pretty well down, it is a slow process for adding data. And forget taking notes with it. Now I add in a lot of data using the Palm Desktop program, but there are times I'm just without the computer and need to get more than a line or two of data in. This is where the keyboard shines. Coming in its own case, I just throw it into the briefcase and keep it handy. Now when I'm at meetings or off doing some research, the keyboard can come right out, sit on the table and allow me to enter in info quickly (and more importantly - accurately). Those memo files can then be synced to the desktop, copied and printed or emailed as needed. An invaluable tool that lets me make one more step away from carrying paper around all the time. The keys have a great feel and the resistance is just right to let me know I'm typing what I want. My only caveat is I don't know how sturdy it will be in the long term, but it seems to be built strong. Highly Recommended!
Rating: Summary: Great for Students Review: I'm a student(a freshman) and find it very useful for taking notes and writing papers instead of using the school computers I just type on it and beam it to one of the printers. It's full sized and very comfortable the only thing is it is lightwieght construction and not sure how durable it is but I don't take those chances. It holds up well under my usage.
Rating: Summary: For on the go writers, notetakers, excellent Review: I was considering buying a laptop, but hated the weight and the thought of protecting it from theft. I take this to meetings/seminars/mountains and write there. The batteries last a long long time on the Palm. If you take notes even moderately often, you'll thank yourself. I wish I'd had this in grad school. You can sync to your computer and it goes into outlook, then save to whatever file you want, and voila, computer word processed document.
Rating: Summary: WOW!! A full-sized keyboard that is also a compact! Review: I was really skeptical--at first--at just how small a full-sized keyboard could actually be...but I am NOW a believer. This portable Palm keyboard is absolutely amazing. If you need to type in large sums of data quickly, and you don't want to rely on writing the grafiti-way, then this little baby isn't something you want, its something you NEED. You simply won't believe just how small this keyboard actually is when folded all up. It is just slightly larger than my actual m125 Palm. Think I'm joking, don't you? Well I ain't. In fact I honestly did not believe it was even possible until I saw it demonstrated myself...upon which I became not just a believer, I became an owner. Now one important thing to consider before you fork out the nearly $90 bucks it costs is this: Do NOT buy this item UNLESS you have to type a LOT of info quickly on a REGULAR basis. Don't make the mistake a friend of mine made by buying one, and using it just once-in-a-while. He carries it with him all the time on the off-chance he just MIGHT need it...and to date he's actually used it 3 times in 9 months. Not exactly worth the price under those circumstances. However, like I said, if you need to take notes in college (or even high school), or at work during meetings or for whatever reason you may need, buying a portable Palm keyboard will MORE than pay for itself.
Rating: Summary: Really is a great product. Review: I no sooner returned my LandWare GoType (too small and had to type to slowly for it to keep up) that I went out and got myself one of these. I have a Palm IIIxe. I am very, very pleased with the performance of this keyboard!! It may not be as durable in the long run as a one-piece unit, but the keyboard action is terrific and it keeps up with my quick but far-from-fast typing speeds. And it's not as flimsy as I pictured it might be based on some of the other revies. I almost gave it 4 stars for only one reason - the spacebar, as noted in some other reviews, does have to be pressed a little more deliberately (held a little longer) for it to really "take". I don't find the flat profile a problem either, as I also have a laptop... I simply chalk it up to a trade-off for portable devices.
Rating: Summary: Great Keyboard But Beware.... Review: The keyboard is great; quite a clever design. You should be aware however that you must have the HotSync cradle attached to a PC with a CD drive in order to load the keyboard software before you can use it. For some PCs that's probably no problem; for mine (a Gateway), the HotSync cradle is a constant source of irritation since I have to swap out connections in order to connect the cradle, then reboot, etc. Because of that I rarely use the HotSync function.
Rating: Summary: Super handy! Review: Like I said, super handy! Possibly one of the coolest gift combinations I ever recieved was this year, an m100 and a keyboard to go with it on my birthday. Felt like a bit of a kid and a grown-up at the same time. Apart from the non-locking thing it's just as good to use as any other laptop keyboard, and even the bend in the middle can prove useful, eg if you're sitting in a strange position - try crooking it over your leg and typing on both sides! (requires sideways eyes if you want to see what you're doing though :) - Basically no matter how cockeyed you get it, it's always effectively in one piece and is still far less unwieldly than the average laptop these days. It recieved the super-handy status, rather than plain 'handy' (what with the ability to do pretty much all basic word functions and still be pocketable, with the right software), when the palmtop started to succumb to the "mad digitizer disease" a few days after I'd got it, typically just before all the phone numbers were in. Graffiti and a lot of cursor/menu navigation became hard so the keyboard shortcuts and arrow keys were a godsend! [[the original m100 has now gone off for a replacement as it was getting bad enough that i was about to need a 'palm mouse' program to map a pointer to the cursor keys]] The two real gripes are that many useful system hacks such as overclock/eco-mode utilities, system silencers and the like have a tendancy to lock up the system as soon as the keyboard is attached - or is it the other way around? --- and that it only comes in one flavour, US English. Being a UK citizen it's led to development of slight finger dyslexia as I try to cope with two sets of symbol-key arrangements at one :-). However neither of these are so much of a problem either as all non-US symbols including £££ sterling (and many more than any desktop keyboard) are available with simple shortcuts, and the position difference isn't -that- great. Plus hacks are only optional.. when standard keyboards cost a tenth of the price and it's certainly not as fully featured or sturdy as those - but hey, I didn't pay for it, and look how spoogily it folds! If you have a hundred bucks/quid/euros sitting around burning your pockets, then get ones of these and an ice cream with the change, you'll smile for the rest of the week. One final tip for anyone buying this, especially 2nd hand off a dodgy person in a bar; DONT FORGET TO INSTALL THE KEYBOARD DRIVER PRC! :)
Rating: Summary: Portable Keyboard Review: I had seen someone writing some notes with this, and I decided it was a smart idea. I, too, went out and purchased one for my Palm m100 PDA. Let me tell you, it is really amazing technology. The ability to fold a full-size keyboard up is amazing! Plus, all the buttons are there (although I wish 'Home' and 'End' were included), and so are convenient buttons for your various Palm applications (customizable, of course). The only peeves I have are that is doesn't really lie flat...rather, it is raised a bit in the middle because there is nothing there locking it flat. Also, my spacebar doesn't work unless you press real hard, but luckily there is a Space button next to it which I have trained myself to use. All in all, very innovative and intelligent product. You'll like i.t
Rating: Summary: A good accessory for your Palm Review: This keyboard has certainly made my life easier. I'm a graduate student, and my laptop recently died. I couldn't pony up money for a new one, so I pieced together a "poor man's laptop" using a new Palm m500 and the keyboard! With all the free software available--especially if you combine this with Documents to Go--this helps make your Palm a great resource for taking notes in class or the library, and reviewing papers if you can't sit down in front of a real computer. A real asset for me. One star lost for ease of use, as it does take a little while to get used to the extremely flat keyboard, but overall very good. If you buy the keyboard, be sure to check out the carry-all case, too.
