Summary: great mouse, but why so much $?
Review: this is so expensive because of that stupid video game console that Microsoft is making. they have spent bilions on it, and the market analists say they won't profit from it for 5 years, so they need money. i am happy with it otherwise, but i should have gotten an IBM again.

Summary: The Best 50 bucks you will spend!!
Review: I am a mouse addict to begin with and have owned plenty trying to find the perfect one. This is the only one without a ball and the best. There are no annoying jumps when the ball gets dusty and no need to purchase a mouse pad that prevents dust. The Imouse works perfectly and I haven't had a problem for over 1 year! The best 50 bucks I ever spent and I threw my other mice away. In response to the editorial review, the thumb buttons are great and once you get used to them you will wonder how you used the internet without them. One of the best products Microsoft has ever built and it is amazing that of all companies, Microsoft comes up with such an ingenious product. You will not be dissapointed.

Summary: great mouse
Review: I liked this mouse for two main reasons. One it is optical which means i don't have to worry about cleaning it and i get more accurate mouse movements for when i edit images with photoshop.I also liked it because it has extra buttons on the side where your thumb rests. It took some getting used to but now when i go to work and i see a boring logitech with no scroll wheel and a mouse ball on the bottom i feel out of place. I also love the buttons for web browsing. Instead of placing my cursor to the top left i can just use my thumb as the back button. and not to mention the extra buttons use in games. i can reload and jump with my mouse instead of the keyboard. this thing is great. the only gripe i have is the fact that it lets go of the button when i lift it up when i have the button depressed. i have to do this because of my limited mouse space. Other than that i can't think of anything wrong with it. It feels, looks, and functions wonderfully. Highly recommended.

Summary: Best Mouse..Ever.
Review: I've had this mouse for just over a year now. It still works perfectly. I am on my computer 4+ hours per day, and to this day, I have not had one problem. The buttons on the side work perfectly, and the scrolling wheel has not gummed up or gotten nasty yet. Just from normal wear, it is starting to get old, and if/when I get a new mouse, it will definatly be another one of these excellent pieces of work.

Review: I was a bit skeptical when I heard about a mouse that takes thousands of snapshots of the surface instead of using a conventional ball. Well, my old mouse broke, so I had to get a new one. I said 'what the heck', and sprung for the Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer. Ten minutes after I got it out of the box, I was able to use it in action. I was amazed by the accuracy and how it felt under my hand. I can't believe how people could insult the abnormal size and shape; it fit my hand perfectly. To anyone who is thinking of purchasing the IntelliMouse Explorer: BUY IT!!!

Summary: The Best Mac Mouse Available
Review: I've had my Microsoft mouse for about six months now, and despite the fact that as a MacAddict I am resigned to despise Microsoft, I must say this is the one peripheral I would have a hard time replacing. Recently I went to a software class where I had to use the one button Mac mouse and I couldn't believe the difference. That scrollwheel, for example, is easily taken for granted---until you don't have it! The new Mac optical mouse (which comes with new Macs) is pretty but I'll take the functionality of this mouse any day.

Summary: Mouse destined to DIE
Review: It seems like Microsoft designed these mice with planned obselesence (meaning they are designed to quit working after a while so you will buy another then another then another) It should be a piece of cake to design a mouse that has no moving parts so that it lasts virtually forever... I have heard from several people about their microsoft mice quitting working and for the reason previously mentioned, I laughed at them saying that they were probably yanking the cord or something. These people had gone through 1,2, and even 3 of these mice. But then mine died... I bought a different brand optical and have been quite happy so far. Save your self A LOT of money and don't buy this mouse.

Summary: My review, revised- 8 months later
Review: I was quite wrong about most of the things I said about the Intellimouse Explorer. One thing I didn't know was that the two side buttons are configurable to a *variety* of other options. These vary from Cut,Copy, All the F buttons, to just about any possible common windows operation. Despite what I said, the mouse does boot up properly when loaded into safe mode, and still works fine. I have had no problems with it so far, including DOS programs run through windows. Any problems I was encountering in the previous review were due to the programs themselves, and not the mouse. However, the size is still not a problem, and has not bothered me yet. The red light works well as an indicator if your comptuer has a big lock up. Most of the time that mine does, the red light turns off. As for durability, the mouse had held up well, surviving several drops. It is still as quick to respond to motion and clicks as the day I got it from Amazon. If I could give it four and a half stars, then I would, but I can't. To give it 5 stars it would have to make me breakfast everyday and take out the trash. Just about all my friends have recently bought this optical mouse, or one simular by Microsoft, due to their jelousy. Any time I use a ball-mouse now, I become frustrated that it doesn't move smoothly enough, and that I *have to keep it on a mouse-pad.*

Summary: Doesn't work with Netscape on Windows ME
Review: It's a really cool mouse, does not skip, and the two extra buttons for back/forward are great. The only problem is that they don't work with Netscape on Windows ME, so for me it's useless on my new Windows ME system. Microsoft admits that it's a known bug (Article ID: Q274796, search Knowledge Base for IntelliMouse, type "Netscape" as your query). Naturally, they don't know when it will be fixed...
