Summary: The best mouse! Stop throwing away money on other mice...
Review: Don't you hate it when you move your mouse in one direction and the arrow on your screen doesn't follow? Well, that happens when the ball at the bottom of the mouse gets filled with dirt, gunk, and other unmentionable stuff. Cleaning out the mouse provides temporary relief, but pretty soon the mouse is stuck with some permanent dirt and you have to throw that old mouse out. This is a waste of money.This mouse uses optics to precisely track your hand movements. The arrow moves where you want it to go. And more important, you won't throw this mouse away after a year or two because these optics don't collect dirt like the old mouse ball. So, stop throwing away money on other mice and get this long-lasting and comfortable mouse. I've got two of my own, and have given one as a gift, and all three have performed flawlessly. Enjoy!

Summary: I LOVE this mouse!
Review: This mouse is really the best thing I've ever used. I bought one on my own for my computer at work. I've had to use a regular mouse since using this one, and there is no comparison! The tracking is smoother, more precise, and I never have to clean it out. The best thing, though, are the option buttons. Once you get them programmed, you'll never want to be without them. To be able to quickly move back and forth in a web browser, or in a number of non-web programs, is an amazing thing. This is a tool whose time has come!

Summary: Looks cool, Is REAL Accurate, but real cheap.
Review: First off, it is said that the optical mouse costs less to make then the normal mouse. Ive used this mouse at school. I cant stand it for games, its horrible. The Plastic feels all thin and cheap. The mouse isnt to heavy and the buttons feel like there going to fall off. It is accurate, ill give it that. About 2months later at school after gettin the mice. They were being replaced because they were dying out. They would just turn off [connected into the usb port]. At home i own a Logi Tech Mouseman Wheel. It is stirdy, no see thru plastic its rock solid. It doesnt feel like a paper weight and people claim the light heats yourhand up...lies. Ive had one problem wit the mouse. The first time i put it in the usb port it didnt turn till i installed the logi software. Oh ya the ms mouse seems to screw up alot if you move it faster, for the logi it doesnt do that to me. All i can say buy the optical mouse man @ better for a better price, longer lasting and more comfort. Ya the explorer is comfortable to but a piece of .... All i can say its not worth the price and the quality is bad. I see prices of this mouse from 70$ wit 30$ mail in rebates etc so it can actually sell...i was thinking about buying this mouse till i used it for 2months at school and it was dead. Microsoft make cool mice and so do logitech but Microsofts Opticals are a scam. Only if they made the Explorer Pro a USB mouse i bet it would be the top selling mouse. Oh well heres my comments and adive to all of you. Paying 60$avg on this mouse isnt worth it. Dont get it will break/die. Buy a logi optical or a normal ball mouse from either logitech or microsoft. Well thats all i got to say hopes this helps you people out.

Summary: Cord Problems - A FIX
Review: Ok, here's my two cents about the Intellimouse Explorer. First of all, this is by far the best mouse I've ever used - fits wonderfully in my hand (far more comfortable than older-style mice), the buttons are well placed and VERY functional (you'll miss them when you use other mice, believe me), it tracks wonderfully, doesn't need a mouse pad, blah blah blah. The rest of the story - the cord on this mouse STINKS big time. I've had mine no more than about 8 months or so and the cord has shorted out twice. Now some of you may be wondering how that's happened - yes, it can be fixed. SYMPTOMS: 1. No light coming from mouse, comes on sporadically when cord is jiggled. 2. Mouse light remains on, but pointer doesn't move on screen. I've had both of these happen on separate occasions. THE FIX: First of all, if your mouse is still under warranty, CALL IT IN. Microsoft sent me a whole new mouse without even asking for me to send the old one back. It's really easy to do, and Microsoft service is pretty good. I did this because I didn't want to void my warranty by taking the mouse apart. But after I learned that they didn't want me to send the old one back, I fixed it. How? Take the 4 pads off the bottom, and unscrew the screws you find. Take the cover off, and pull some cord into the mouse so the previous bend is inside the mouse, and you've bent a new part of the cord. Replace the cover, screws and pads, and you're good to go. I did this, and so I now have a working mouse and a spare. Granted, it's kind of a cheesy fix, but it works. However, I've done it twice, and there's only so much cord you can stuff inside the mouse. I'm guessing, though, that I can get a good 4 or 5 more stuffs inside before I have to break down and use my backup. The other option is to try to find a replacement cord (inside the mouse, there's a little plastic harness that just plugs in), but I don't know if there are any available. I may just cut and splice when I run out of space. All in all, though, this mouse rocks - I wouldn't trade it for anything. I'd give it 5 stars if it weren't for the cord, but other than that it's worth every penny.

Summary: Great mouse, don't be fooled by nay-sayers
Review: First off, if you have little hands, this mouse might feel a little big, but you will get used to it. I have enormous hands so I don't notice it. Some issues: Use the adapter and plug it into the PS2 port unless you have purchased your computer in the last 4 months from this writing. Most computers made mid-2000 and before have some issues handling properly USB devices and can cause them to conflict with your system. I bought my computer in April of 2000 and have had problems plugging this mouse into the USB port; when I use the adapter and plug it into the PS2 port, I have yet to encounter a problem. I've listened to people say they bought this mouse to use in games because of the 5 buttons, but then they say they only can program the main two buttons in the game. Ok, geniuses, think: Go to the control panel and assign those extra buttons to a specific key on the keyboard, the same key that you use for whatever you want to in your game. It really isn't a difficult concept to grasp. :-) Lastly, the drivers are frequently updated by Mircosoft. When I bought this mouse, the software was version 3.0. When I purchased the Intellimouse Optical (for work...I didn't want to spend 55 bucks again on a mouse), it came with version 3.2, and it was only about 7 months apart. All new versions can be found at the Microsoft website. So if you want a good mouse with all the bells and whistles, bite the bullet and write the check. Or charge the card. Or, as is available now, click the one-setting button and viola, you have bought a mouse. :-)

Summary: A little large, but works and feels great with my laptop
Review: I connect this mouse to my laptop using the USB connector. It is a little large if you have some kind of wrist rest, but when I'm on the road and don't have the wrist rest it feels fine. I can plug and unplug the mouse without rebooting, and thanks to the optics, there's not need to carry a mouse pad in my bag.

Summary: Flawed
Review: This mouse has the best features of any mouse on the market, unfortunately, it is not built to last. I own two of those babies, one on my Mac, the other for my PC. Soon after I bought my first Intellimouse, it started to work erratically. I returned it and it was exchanged for a new one and it worked fine. I then decided to buy a second one since I was so pleased with the product. Fast forward to one year later, just after warranty expiration. Both of them have started to work erratically a few weeks ago. At times, the mouse does not respond at all. After some troubleshooting I found that in both cases, the problem stems from the connection between the USB cable and the mouse. After the mouse stops working, if I wiggle the cable that comes out from the top of the mouse, the red light inside the mouse comes on again for a while.For this problem to occur on both my units, it is unlikely just bad luck. There seems to be a design flaw that Microsoft will have to adress. In the meantime, I might just try my luck with Logitech's optical mouse. It only has 4 buttons instead of 5, but I hope that it will outlast Microsoft's offering.

Summary: It's too big
Review: Everyone seems to like this mouse, but not me. The optical tracking is fine, but the size of this thing is ridiculous. The ironic thing is that I'm rather large myself, so I'd guess that I have a larger hand than most people. For 15 years, I've used mice and other input devices frequently for pixel art, higher-level painting, and I'm a skilled gamer and professional game programmer. But my technique, like many good artists and gamers, is to keep the corner of my palm planted on the desk, as I do when using a pen or pencil. The two advantages are that it takes the weight and strain off my the arm, and it puts the mouse entirely under the fine motor control of my fingers. Obviously, this is impossible if the mouse is so huge. I'm pretty much limited to cupping my hand over this thing, meaning I can't leverage any coordinated muscle groups to steer this Titanic. Other complaints: the shape isn't really that good either, it feels hollow, the side buttons are hard to reach, and the buttons feel loose instead of solid. So I sold it and got the Logitech optical wheel mouse instead, and it's the best mouse I've ever used. (And I've used around 50 different mice in my time.) The Logitech is also a lot less expensive.

Summary: THE BEST MOUSE EVER
Review: I am using this mouse now since it was released! It works sensationally fine! This mouse is ideally suited for big and middle sized hands. Its ergonomicall shape fits perfectly in the right hand. The IntelliEye technology makes it possible to use the mouse praticly everywhere. whether on wood, glass with or without a mousepad! Since I got that mouse I did not have to clean it once (and I am using my computer several hours day!). Unlike other mice with balls in it that get stuck and tend to be unprecise this one won't! You operate this mouse on a usb or ps2 (with a provided adapter). This mouse works even on mac and linux! a must have for people that use the computer a lot or just want to have the best mouse available!

Summary: GREAT MOUSE - SCROLL WHEEL NOT A THRILL!
Review: I purchased this mouse which was highly recommended by all my friends. I do enjoy and like it very much, BUT, I am not comfortable with the scroll wheel. It is very clicky and does not glide easy and smooth as my old Logitech wheel mouse did. I feel that Microsoft should of did a little more research and surveys on the feel and comfort of the scroll wheel. All in all, a good mouse and I am glad I purchased it! Also, I wish the cord was NOT black and they made it cream/white to blend in with most PC's and keyboards.
