Summary: Looks good, Feels cheap
Review: First thing I noticed when I took it out of the package was how flimsy it felt. I have bought microsoft mice before and thier track ball had a strong solid feel. This mouse however feels thin and inexpensive. I tried using it without a mouse pad but it seems to make a bit of noise sliding on my desk, it has little hard plastic pads to slide on but they don't seem to be enough to silince it, maybee its cause of the thin cheap feeling case.
As far as usability, It works as described. It's a bit larger than a standard mouse, but that keeps your hand from draging on the desk much. It also tracks just fine and has lots of options for it's 6 buttons and scroll wheel. Overall I'm ok with it, just wished it felt more confident.

Summary: Caution: Gamers!
Review: Great mouse, no more gunk, feels good in the hand, faster than an old-style ball mouse. One IMPORTANT note of caution: These mice ship with IntelliPoint 3.2, which does not work well in gaming, esp. Counter-Strike, Q3, and other FPS games. Find a copy of 3.1. I have no idea why, but I've talked to a number of gamers and that seems to be their experience as well.

Summary: Microsoft's IntelliMouse
Review: This mouse is far superior to a ball mouse, and in my opinion more ergonomical then the other microsoft optical mice. The only downside to this product is the visible LED.

Summary: THE BEST MOUSE EVER
Review: what a GREAT mouse....this is the first optical mouse i have ever owned...and it is so perfect. It is worth the money...the extra buttons are really useful...especially if you are a computer gamer; however, i would suggest this mouse for anybody. Trust me, GET THIS MOUSE!

Summary: Great Mouse
Review: This is the best mouse ever. It has a great design and feels great in my hand. The positioning of all buttons are great. This mouse is so good I bought another for my other computer. The IntelliPoint software that comes with it is very easy to use and helps you customize your mouse to your tastes. I would reccommend this mouse to everyone and anyone.

Summary: Convienient And Comfortable
Review: Microsoft Intellimouse is a great mouse possible the best out today. The price may be a tad steep but its well worth it.

The mouse has 5 buttons, 2 normal buttons, a scrolling button and 2 buttons on the side. The 2 buttons on the side are for forward and back in the browser... but keep in mind that these buttons can be modified to your likeing.

The Mouse is optical so no cleaning is required, neither is a mouse pad.

If your a gamer like I am the 5 buttons on the mouse are great for all games.. it keeps ur hand comfortably on the mouse and gives you quick access for gameplay needs.

Finally the mouse is comfortable to handle for long periods of time. But if your a lefty then be warned this mouse isn't for you. Amazon also sells a mouse quite like this thats for leftys as well.

Summary: Great on MOST surfaces, but be carefull !!
Review: For most of the time, this mouse is the absolute best!! It never skips. It never has the problem of ball-mice where you move the mouse slightly, but the cursor does not move because the inside is a bit dirty or whatever. You don't need a mouse pad, because it works just as well on a desk surface as anything else. (I've even tried it upside down on a piece of paper - still works) I used this for a year and it was perfect.
..
BEWARE!! I switched to an all black desk a few months ago and the mouse BARELY works. I think the all-black does not give it any reference points to work from. Whatever the reason, I'm back to using a mouse pad again. It's still better than a regular mouse, but I'm extremely disappointed that I can't use it directly on my new desk.

Summary: Hated it, sent it back
Review: Based on some good reviews I purchased this mouse believing that Microsoft was a pretty good name in hardware. I have owned other Microsoft hardware products (joystick/gamepad) and found them to be very good. Unfortunately, this mouse was one of the worst mice I have ever had the misfortune to use.

Firstly during the install the driver disk informed me the product was not fully compatible with Windows Me. If I wanted to use USB I would have to manually edit various configuration files. Now you'd think that Microsoft would be able to ship their products with compatible drivers, because I certainly made that assumption. This compatibility problem apparently only affects USB, which was fine; I hate to tie up one of my USB ports just for a mouse.

After this shaky start I started to use the mouse, both on a desk and on a mouse pad. In both instances I found the cursor sometimes skipping, and try as I might I could not find a setting that allowed for a natural movement. My next experience was to find that the Microsoft drivers had convinced Windows Me that my cable connection no longer existed, and Internet Explorer and Outlook 2000 both started asking me (repeatedly) to connect using a dialup connection.

In addition to these rather annoying shortcomings in the design and implementation I found all the buttons very flimsy, the thumb buttons were easy to hit by accident, and the mouse itself was too big and would be no use for someone who didn't have large hands.

All in all I was very disappointed and within a few hours I packed it away into its box to return. I have since returned to my Logitech that came with my computer, but I intend to buy one of the blue optical Logitech's, which seem a lot better.

Although I am normally a glass half full kind of person, I really can't think of a single positive thing to say about this mouse. Oh wait, it kinda looks nice.

Summary: I love this mouse
Review: I got this mouse because I wanted an optical mouse and it is fantastic but only if you are right handed left hans are left out of this one.
