Summary: A winning technology w/ a questionable package.
Review: I've been using this product for about 2 months now, with no problems. It works capably on every flat surface on my desk. No problem tracking when running off the mouse pad and on to the desk. I would have prefered more weight (one of the best attributes of the classic Microsoft mouse). I could have done without the glitzy, unneccesary red light too. The shape is also a bit of a departure. It's longer and flatter so the hand is more streched out over the mouse. The adjustments to this product have been minor when compaired with its flawless tracking ability. Will it be my last mouse? Probably not. But this product has real potential to far exceed the useful lifespan of my last 5 mouses, which were all retired because the trackball became un-cleanable. There is another incarnation in the more classic package, but without the side buttons, which have proved very useful, esp for browsing. Note.. a PS-2 to serial adapter will not work.

Summary: Ball mice are finito
Review: Control with this thing is lightning quick and precise, like no other mouse I've seen -- and I've gone through a lot of the older variety.

It's a bit bigger than the older Intellimouse, and the side buttons take a little getting used to. All buttons and the scroll wheel seem a lot more sensitive -- in the early going, I was sometimes clicking when I didn't mean to. But I've used this mouse to finish Half Life, and I know I'll never go back to the old technology. All in all, a superb product and well worth the cash.

Summary: No more mousicide.
Review: If you are shopping for the best mouse...the search is over. MS has made up for its bloatware by developing some great hardware. From Gamers to Photoshop users...the accuracy is topnotch...the 4 buttons and scrollwheel make surfing fun and faster(with built on back button).

You cant go wrong with this one.

Summary: Microsoft Hardware is some of the best out there
Review: Microsoft seems to be taunting other hardware companies with their popular sidewinder, their natural keyboard, and now their intellimouse explorer. You will not want to back to a rolling-ball mouse again after using this mouse. Sure, it's just like many other mouses you use, but this one will not wear out. It has 4 buttons and a wheel, and all are programmable. The feel is great, although the thumb buttons are not in natural positions. The red glow also adds the "cool" appearance and receieves attention of your friends when they come over. Buy this mouse. You will not be disappointed.

Summary: Great performance, great style!
Review: The tracking accuracy of this mouse is incredible, it's so precise and responds to the slightest movement. The control panel is easy to adjust for button programming and user preferences. One thing that has been forgotten - the base lights up with a red glow and is definitely stylish. A great buy - get it for the computer enthusiast on your list!

Summary: Good Idea, Not Quite Right
Review: Although the optical technology is a great innovation, the mouse is actually less comfortable than its grey & white Intellimouse Pro predecessor. The body is slightly wider and not as easy to grip. For general mouse-work, this may not be a problem. For detailed pointing (graphics programs), and long hours of mousing, I still prefer the Pro.

Summary: Did Microsoft really build a better mousetrap?
Review: Here are a few quick reasons to purchase this mouse: 1) No cleaning of the ball and rollers. 2) 4 Buttons provide little reason to move the mouse to move back and forth when web surfing. 3) Excellent ergonomics. 4) No need for a mouse pad. 5) Intellimouse software is easy to configure and adds important extras. 6) Included USB Support will allow you to use the mouse when the PS/2 port diappears from future computer platforms. 7) Dark grey cord and mouse body helps to keep things looking clean. 8) Scroll button allows for double clicking as well as scrolling long web pages and other long documents and spreadsheets. 9) The red glow eminating from the underside of the mouse will impress all who view it. 10) Macintosh support allows you to use the mouse in a "mixed PC/Mac environment". There is no comparison. This is the best mouse available.

Summary: What about the lefties?
Review: OK, OK, so I'm sure it's a great mouse, it certainly looks chic and seems to work well, according to reviewers and customers alike, but would device manufacturers please, oh please! try and remember that a sizable portion of the population are left handed? How difficult would it be to invert the mold and produce these gadgets for us as well? In these days of CAD/CAM it shouldn't take the designers long to produce the necessary goods!

Sure, the production run would be smaller, but goodwill is important too!

Trackball manufacturers have been designing their products neutrally for years, only recently have some jokers (Logitech, in particular) built right-hand-only devices.

Summary: What about lefties?
Review: Ok, I haven't used this mouse, but I did read all about it here. I am left-handed, and do use my mouse with my left hand, particularly when i really need to control it. For something called the INTELLI-mouse, implying intelligence, it certain left out thought of a large number of computer users. Next time, Bill, think about us too.

Summary: Unfair to Lefties
Review: This is truly a positive step in the right or should I say the "left" direction. Having not tried it first hand its hard to promote its abilities. Although the "Mouse" has all the neat little buttons and bells you never have to clean or worry about, and use's optic technology sadly I have to state that it does discriminate against us lefties. We are a part of this great new movement in cyberspace and we want to be able to compete on a level playing field. How about it Microsoft, are you willing to help us lefties? Lefties unite... P.S. I have money!
