Summary: Good but it has a shot life.
Review: This is one of the best mice I have ever used. You can tell by the other reviews that the extra progamable buttons are very handy, and that it's ergonomic design is also very comfortable.

But one thing.... After about a month or so using this product, it dies. There is no cable stress protecting the cord where it meets the mouse. So both of my mice (After the first I had to have another) are now dead. I dont know if microsoft has done anything about this problem with later models but for now you need to make a choice between the best mouse you will ever use for a month or $60 bucks untill you spend it.

Summary: red light = fun
Review: worth the money, when you don't have a lot of desk-space for mousepads.

Summary: Form and Function!
Review: It looks good! It really looks good!

This has been the current trend in desktop computers and components lately and it's about time Microsoft joined in.

Microsoft has created a wonderful see and use mouse. Form and function are well in place even though the unit does have a light plastic semi-cheap feel to it, compared to Kensington and Logitech mice that seem a little bit more solid in mass. This small and ignorable problem is overshadowed by the silver and gray finish and the really cool red light that shines brightly from the back of the mouse.

Hey but this mouse ain't' all looks! Using sleek precise LED imaging technology the mouse eliminates the need for a tracking ball in the belly of it. You can use the mouse on practically any surface (I used it on my arm!) without the need of a mouse pad. Since there are no moving parts (like normal mice) there is no cleaning except the once and a while blowing off dust.

The software is exceptional for the mouse on Windows and Macintosh machines. Easily, fully programmable 5 buttons plus the scroll wheel makes this the best corded consumer mouse ever made.

Overall this Microsoft product is what I expect from them in the future. Great design and great software makes this mouse a solid buy and a keeper. Happy mousing!

Summary: Superb product will end up saving you money
Review: Please allow me to request that you refrain from being taken aback by the steep price quotient of the IntelliMouse explorer; for, in essence, this product will save you more than it will cost you. Firstly, it will save you time, as you will never again experience the uncomfortable process of cleaning a mouse utilizing a Q-tip. Secondly, it will save you the trouble of using a mousepad.

But the features of the IntelliMouse explorer delve into places where input devices have not yet gone. It feels extremely comfortable with any right hand (its ambidextrity is doubted). The buttons are located in convenient places, particularly for web browsing. The USB technology permits hot-plugging. In addition, the scrolling wheel is extremely useful. Strongly recommended.

Summary: Exelent mouse
Review: This an excelant mouse. It has very good acuracy and five buttons, which can be programmed to do anything from maximizing and minimizing wimdows to moving forward and back on your browser. Also, the wheel has a considerably lower retension setting than the other intellimice, which makes scrolling fast easy. Unfortunately, this mouse is too large to fit comfortably ina small child's hand. Also, the two extra buttons don't work in computer games. For right-handed people only.

Summary: Mouse of Ages
Review: Upon first looking at the mouse, I thought the IR 'eye' was just another marketting ploy. This quickly changed after using it... It is by far the smoothest mouse ever made, not requiring a mousepad at all, but the easiest to maintain. I have owned every microsoft 'ergo' type mouse, and this blows it away hands down. If you have the extra cash, you will NOT be sorry.

Summary: Top-Notch mouse!
Review: This is truly a great mouse. It looks great, feels great, and has five progammable buttons. I like the fact that you NEVER need to clean the mouse of the dust! There is one small problem- the wheel on the mouse feels wobbly and unstable....but it works fine nonetheless! But this is just a small querk I have, don't let it hinder your decision. It's definately woth its high price! An overall great mouse.

Summary: very good product
Review: I was lucky to get my mouse at a computer show and pay $20 less then whats being asked for here which made it a better deal.I work allot in photoshop, and corel draw/photopaint so when I'm not using my graphics tablet this is the only way to go.No more clogged mouse to clean when I'm in the middle of a graphic.I have large hands so it's really not that big a mouse for me.

Summary: Toddler Teaser
Review: This mouse works great. Especially for those of us trying to compute with a toddler running around. Not much mouse movement is needed. (Movement is inaccurate when being jumped on and rolled around.)Just click your way through.

Great IDEA!

Summary: Much nicer
Review: From the moment my Intellimouse Explorer arrived, I was impressed. The optical technology allowed to me to get rid of the tacky mousepad, also freeing me up to use as much of the desk as I deem necessary for the mouse. It tracks extremely well across the screen, and it looks absolutely awesome with my black PC. Though I haven't had much chance to mess with graphics, what I have done seems vastly improved. I think this mouse is definitely worth the money. Microsoft did an excellent job.
