Summary: Great for right handers with average size palms
Review: You can feel that its sculpted for the right hander. The design is not as good as Logitech's Mouseman Wheel but its very difficult laying your hands on a optical version of that mouse.

Overall, it performs quite good. The advantages are configurability, optical sensor, ergonomic, and cool looking (hey, looks are important!).

The biggest DRAWBACK is the absence of a rubber proctector where the cord meets the mouse. Looks like its going to give way soon!

The movement and response is great. Buy this if you cannot find the Logitech Mouseman Wheel Optical.

Summary: Needs improvement
Review: I purchased this mouse because I had worn down the scroll wheel on my other one. I do a lot of work with mapping programs, designing boundries, etc. I zoom in and out a lot and I must say that the scroll wheel on this mouse is excellent. The rest of the has a few shortcomings in accuracy though. Because of the design of the plastic stoppers on the bottom I can't just move it a very little bit from the mouse being at rest. It jumps, for those familiar with physics, to overcome static friction it takes a larger force than to overcome fritcion when an object is in motion, which results in the mouse always going to far. Also, every once in a while, usually about once every few hours the mouse skips to the lower right hand corner of my screen for no apparent reason. I have a few scratches on my desk and this could be the problem, or it could be the fact that I slightly pick up the mouse every once in a while.

Summary: An unconventional mouse and far from perfect
Review: (judge a mouse by how it works, not how it looks) I purchased this Microsoft product from Amazon.com with the expectation of never having to clean a mouse trackball again. That requirement was met but the rest of the mouse falls short. The first thing you notice is that it's an oversized mouse. Many people, including myself, prefer a smaller profile. Second, its tracking ability is very poor. If I try to move it in a straight line it will jiggle slightly from side to side. VERY ANNOYING! Third, and probably the worst feature is that the wheel which replaces the middle button is too sensitive to downward motion. I had it set to give a double-click but had to disable it. Alas, this mouse is more a gimmick than an advancement of the mouse species. If you want a good, solid wheelmouse then buy a Logitech. As we say in Texas, "nuff said"!

Summary: Cool mouse but kinda big
Review: This is mouse really neat. It's very accurate and you can actually feel the difference! No joke. I first thought, "hey, how could a moues be MORE accurate"? So this neat optical thing Microsoft created is wonderful because it looks cool and it tracks the mouse cursor like no other.

It works on any surface except reflective/glossy surfaces. When you go to Office Depot, Staples, or Office Max, you see the Intellimouse Explorer on a mirror.. it's just a marketing scheme. You can't really operate the mouse with a mirror or anything similiar.

The mouse has 5 buttons and a wheel. All buttons are programmable using the Intellipoint 2.1 software. It's awesome too. I use the buttons on the side to go back and fourth between web pages. The middle button (wheel) is programmed for double-click (you would not believe how convienent this is).

Bad things? Surley the mouse looks wonderful. There is a little red light on the front of the mouse that adds lots of flavor to the Intellimouse Explorer apperance. However, the picture online makes the mouse look "normal" size. But this mouse is HUGE! No joke. My hands, which are pretty big (I can palm a basketball), still felt small with this mouse. So I ended up returning the mouse and buying the Microsoft Intellimouse Optical.

So what's the difference between the Intellimouse Explorer and Optical. Well the Explorer runs $20 more, comes with a lifetime warranty (compared to 5 year with the optical), and is not made for ambidextrous people. The Explorer has more of a curve to it so it "fits" your hand supposedly.

So in conclusion, I suggest you first go the the store and see if the mouse fits you. Then buy the one the best suits your tastes.

Summary: Microsoft B75-00001 IntelliMouse Explorer (PS2/USB)
Review: I bought one - did not have the correct software and does not work even close to as advertised. I took it back for a refund. An overpriced piece of junk as far as I am concerned. My Genius Netscroll+ is a far superior product at a fraction of the price. I only gave it one star because there is no 1/2 a star.

Summary: best available mouse?
Review: Finally a mouse that doesn't drag its little ball feet! The software loaded perfectly on two Win98 installations in the office. The software allows for customization of the mouse features but I found the default settings to be just fine. When I saw it at the store it looked really cool with the little red laser reflecting off of the table surface but I thought that the plastic casing could be a little more sturdy. In practice, however, it has been quite sturdy. The scroll button has a nice rubbery grip and is heavy enough to not cause unwanted scrolling. Of course the best feature is the laser movement itself. It is currently being used in a wood table without a mouse pad (no need for one with this mouse). The grain on the wood causes a slightly uneven surface but the mouse performs flawlessly even in detailed work with Photoshop. Most importantly it has NEVER failed to move as precisely as it should.

This mouse is incredibly well designed. It is innovatively smooth and consistent in its movement. It is quite possibly the best mouse in the market at the moment. It doesn't feel as heavy as some others but the accuracy is impeccable. Besides, how heavy or light a mouse feels is more of an individual preference. It does tend to be on the large side. Someone with very small hands may find it too large. The included usb adapter is a nice feature.

Highly recommended!

Summary: Mac User
Review: My boss purchased this mouse for his PC laptop and I thought it was cool, light (no mouse).

I was sick of cleaning my Kensington, so I bought on for my USB Mac. Great product, even though it's made by Microsoft :) Very Pleased.

Summary: Size matters
Review: Great mouse. The infrared tracking is flawless. It really works as described. It's also larger than your average mouse, very comfortable for my big hands. You know what they say about men with big hands. They need a big mouse. A Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer. (WHERE ARE MY ROYALTY CHECKS, BILL? )

Summary: Pity that it's not wireless......
Review: Great product, looks are cool, but I'm waiting for the addition of wireless option. Okay, I don't have to clean the ball anymore, but I still have to clean the CABLE....... Hey Bill, where are we going tomorrow?

Summary: Luxury- Most Comfortable Mouse with some downsides
Review: Good:
1)The most comfortable, ergonomical designed shape
2)Amazingly fast, smooth and effortless- to turn wheel, fast sensor NO mouse ball to be cleaned
3)Space ages design, silver color
4)versatile PC/MAC, USB with PS2 adapter
5)Good functions, back-foward buttons (on the thumb position) to be marathon on the net.

Bad:
1)USB port using is a little complicate to set up (for me, at least), I need a normal mouse to help
2) Red light (at the tail of the mouse)lid up ALL THE TIME, just to be stylish, even when the computer is off (I do not comprehend this). This light also generate heat to keep the mouse a little warm, bad for my sweaty-hand.
3)Very expensive for a mouse
4)Bad user manual (in the driver CD), short and not specific to this model, it seems that they use one manual for all of the microsoft wheel mouse. I wish there is a specific manual for this mouse since it is quite costly.
5)quite a big, space consuming mouse, I also do not like the way the mouse surface feeling, can't explain, it not smooth and cool like the microsoft wheel mouse.
6)Can used on any FLAT and NON-SHINNY Surface, not on glass nor mirror nor on your body :) because it is not a flat surface.

Conclude: The fast sensor, no mouse ball and ergonomical shape is really stand out for this mouse. If you feel fine with MS wheel mouse, you'd better stick with it, wait for MS to improve the bad parts, then spend more money for this luxury. Since I got this as a gift, I will keep it.
