Summary: Wrong
Review: I bought an optical mouse but I got a normal mouse with a red decorative light.

Summary: Doesn't work with my computer
Review: I currently use a PS2 mouse with a sieral port adapter. Which is the way it came, giving you the choice of using a PS2 port or a serial port. I use the serial port because I do not have a PS2 port on my computer. This Labtec is a PS2 and I assumed I would be able to use with the serial port adapter as I do with the one I have now. The instructions say you do not have to do any installation for this mouse. Just turn your computer off, plug the mouse in and turn your computer back on. I did this and I get a message saying the computer can not find a mouse. So is that because the mouse I received is defective or is it because this mouse won't work with the adapter. I haven't had the opportunity to have someone else check it out on their computer, so I don't know.

Summary: Very good mouse for very little money
Review: I have this Labtec mouse since April 2002 and it have never failed. I think that its price is very low compared with its functionality. I have Windows XP pro, and it works great with it.

Summary: Cost-effective
Review: I picked one of these up as a replacement for a certain other brand that costs about twice as much and find it satisfactory. Positives: It seems a solid piece of work, the 'eye' port doesn't pick up dust as readily as the other brand, and the standard driver software is noticeably smaller than the other brand's. Negative: when I used it with a particular mousepad that has two identical patterns next to each other, and the mouse was in just the right spot between them, the mouse pointer would bounce around on the screen, indicating some confusion in what passes for the mouse's mind as to where it was on the pad. I don't know if this is a driver problem or a hardware problem. I kept the mouse and tossed the pad in a drawer -- with an optical mouse, who needs it?

Summary: Great bargain
Review: I trade stocks for a living, so I need the speed and accuracy of an optical mouse, as well as a comfortable design since my hand is on it pretty much constantly for 8 hours a day. I used one of these at work for 3 months without any problem. I bought a Logitech for my home for $$... (Before I realized how inexpensive these were) and found the comfort, feel, and performance to be superior with this Labtec mouse in every way. It's the best mouse I've ever used -- regardless of price.

Summary: Excellent Little Mouse at a Great Price
Review: The Labtec optical mouse has a nice feel in the user's hand. It is not too obtrusive or over-round and the fingers settle quite nicely on the mouse buttons.

The scroll wheel is a nice addition but is set in the mouse further than usual. This has its ups and downs. On the positive side, the scroll wheel does not protrude clumsily from the mouse. On the other hand, it does take some getting used to and slows the pace of scrolling.

The optical eye is smaller than I have seen on an optical mouse. Again, on the positive side, the small eye slows down the mouse movement such that the pointer does not go careening around the screen. On the down side, some people may like that feature in their mouse.

As for the construction, it does not feel like the most sturdy mouse out there but I suppose if you don't smack it around like a hockey puck, it should last you just fine.
