Summary: Optical Mouse are the BEST
Review: If you ever use an optical then you will have to throw away your old ball mouse. Buy it, your hand will thank you for it!

Summary: Just too wide for me, but optical is great
Review: I upgraded to an optical mouse because I was tired of always having to clean the old trackball mice or just live with a stutter mouse that can't quite point at the thing you want to click. Optical is definitely the way to go.

My only gripe with the Microsoft Intellimouse Optical is that I just didn't like the shape. I use the mouse in a home office that doesn't have a lot of desk space and, apparently, I need to pick up the mouse to move it sometimes. The shape of the Intellimouse Optical with it's extra side buttons makes it hard for me to grip it on the sides to pick it up. I'm used to the old Microsoft mouse shape that's smaller in my hands and straight up and down on the sides making it a lot easier to grip if you need to pick it up.

I also thought the extra side buttons would be cool, particular in browsing (assigned to back and forward), but they just seemed to get in the way more than they were useful.

So, I'm off to find a different optical mouse that's more akin to the old, smaller Microsoft mouse shape, but optical is definitely the way to go. No complaints about the optical part - it is definitely the way to go.

Summary: Excellent mouse for gaming and surfing the Internet
Review: I have this mouse because a good friend of mine recommended it to me. It is great for gaming (Counterstrike) as you can assign functions to the buttons on the side. Also just for internet surfing, the back and forward functions that come default are the best. The mouse itself is very precise and you don't need that sweaty old mouse pad anymore. You can even use the mouse on the palm of your hand! Best mouse out there.

Summary: Great, no problems whatsoever.
Review: My original MS optical mouse 1.0 had nothing but problems, this works great and I love the "back" button on the left hand side.

Summary: Best Mouse for the Price
Review: I have had this mouse for a year and have had no problems with it at all. You don't need a mouse pad but you need to use it on a smooth surface. It is extremely accurate and I like that it has 4 buttons it works great for the internet and playing games. It you are good at distroying a regular mouse with a ball this is the mouse for you. It will pay for itself over time. You never have to worry about the mouse sticking at all.

Summary: Second to None!
Review: This mouse is one of the best investments I made for my computer system. It provides stable performance that does not skip or feel awkward, which are characteristics of a ball mouse getting dirty. I own the Intellimouse Optical, and my roomate has the Intellimouse Explorer. Although more expensive, that mouse isn't necessarily better. This mouse gives me a more secure feel as I work or play games with it. One more thing!!! Do not confuse this mouse with another version of it out there. This is Microsoft D58-00026 Intellimouse Optical version 1.1, which should have been specified, and it has a predecessor named the Microsoft D58-00002 Intellimouse Optical. Both are sold on this site, and if you look closely, this is have much more updated stuff such as 6000 image captures per second as opposed to the 1500 image captures previously, and the software included is much more updated than its previous version as well. I don't know how many updates to this mouse Microsoft plans to make, but I can't really judge if there is much of a performance significance in the older version. I'm just glad I got this updated version as it's been really great!!

Summary: Love the glow
Review: I love my optical mouse. I do not have to worry about my mouse pad getting dirty, and I do not even have to be on a mouse pad. I can use it in my lap, if I wish. No cleanong rollers, either.
One thing I like is the red glow. When lights are out, it makes a nightlight of a sort. The glow is very pretty, if nothing else.

Summary: Wonderful
Review: This mouse from Microsoft is really great. It is very accurate and quite confortable. I recentlly took it on a trip with me and it held up very nicly(didn't break). If you don't already have an optical mouse this is a great choice. Perfect for gamers great for every thing else.

Summary: Great Value
Review: I recently bought this mouse because it was on sale. I had an old ball mouse that seemed to need cleaning every other day. It was a breeze to set this mouse up. All I had to do was plug it into the mouse port and install the software that came with it. I found the mouse to be comfertable to use and I love the two programable buttons on the side. Microsoft did a good job on designing this mouse.

Summary: Simply Marvelous
Review: I am in love with this mouse. If it were a girl, instead of a piece of computer hardware, I'd marry it!

I bought one of these as a Christmas present for a friend whose mouse was so out of date that it was actually painful to use it. She loved it so much, I started thinking about getting one for myself. My IntelliMouse worked fine, but I found it frustrating for certain operations, especially fine detail work in PhotoShop. So I took the plunge and got one.

It was a great choice. It glides smoothly and crisply on any surface. No more little hitches near the edges of my mousepad or popping the ball out to clean it and remove the gunk from the roller bars. The side buttons take some getting used to, but I find them almost indispensible now (I've left them on the default setting - BACK and FORWARD - but they can be reset to a pretty large number of alternate uses). And, whereas my IntelliMouse had a bit of trouble when I tried to scroll up with the wheel (it was rather sensitive and tended to take that action as a click down), this one responds perfectly.

All in all, this is a very well engineered product at the price and well worth every penny. If you have even the mildest dissatisfaction with the mouse you're using now, this one is an excellent replacement and you'll never regret spending the money on it. It's also a great gift for those less hardware-literate friends and relatives who never remember to clean mouse.
