Rating: Summary: Unsure...well time to be sure Review: Ok...that mouse you've had with you computer must be making you a little nervous right? That is why you are on here looking at this product. Well...let me just tell you I was the same way...I had a perfectly good mouse...there was nothing wrong with it...it was a little dirty but it never missed a beat and served well and was on it's second computer. But, like some of you the optical mouse has for one reason or another caught your eye. Well...catching your eye may not be enough...it will eventually catch your hand and you'll never go back. This mouse is light, and it is large. But it's designed so that even small hands like my sister and big hands like mine can use it with ease. The two extra buttons are great...with the back and forward feature plus scrolling you never have to leave the actual page you are at. In the 3 weeks I've had my "smart" mouse I've become so attached to it I am at a loss when I use any other mouse. I believe that you will be the same way. My girlfriend loves it...and she is getting one for christmas!
Rating: Summary: A graphic artist's dream. Review: I bought this mouse for an extra computer we had at the office. To my amazement it was easier and more accurate to use than my Walcom Tablet 4D mouse. Like most graphic artists, I spend all day pointing and clicking in Photoshop, Illustrator, and 3D Studio Max. This mouse is a dream come true! The Walcom Tablet is now on the "other computer".
Rating: Summary: Hazardous Radiation Exposure? Review: I found this mouse better than my old mouse. At first I thought that the middle scrolling wheel was a bit loose like the other reviewers, however after using it for a while, I found that this is much more convienient and the wheel on my old mouse is not loose enough. The two buttons on the side are also convienient and can be changed (through the software) to perform many different operations. One thing that I found disturbing after I read the instructions was in the back of the 4 page manual - "Caution: Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specified herin may result in hazardous radiation exposure."Although I use the mouse in the appropriate way, what if my mouse drops on the floor or becomes slightly damaged? I have a chance of getting cancer from this mouse? After reading the reviwes before purchasing this mouse, I thought that this mouse would be much better than my old one, however cursor movement wasn't much smoother but I could use this mouse on things such as my pant leg. That red glow does impress many people who have never seen it before... It could be annoying when I'm trying to use it at night, though...
Rating: Summary: This mouse is for you Review: I have never liked the alternatives for pointing and clicking in Windows. The MS Mouse tended to become unreliable for a variety of reasons (dirt, oils, general wear and tear), and prior to the 1st Intellimouse there were better alternatives in terms of other features. In fact, if you ever used one of the Logitech optical devices, then you had the pleasure of using a reliable and functional device. And you wondered why Microsoft could not do the same. Well wonder no more, they did it. This is a solid product, it will be reliable as the optical movement technology has already been proven, and you need no reason to purchase it other than your own bad experiences with mice. Buy this today.
Rating: Summary: Great Mouse --- With One Fault Review: I purchased this mouse because my previous mouse with a mouseball had not been functioning very well. I love the accuracy of the optical light, it's really good for a serious gamer. The only fault is the two side buttons -- they would be fine, but have been placed too far up on the side of the mouse. I found myself constantly accidentally clicking them and finally had to disable them both. The product info says that there are 5 programmable buttons, but that includes the regular left- and right-click and the wheel click. Don't get me wrong, it's a great mouse, but there are better alternatives available at Amazon. I have the Logitech MouseMan Wheel Optical on my other computer and I like it so much better. It only has one additional button, but it is perfectly placed. Buy the other mouse, it's more comfortable and isn't any more expensive.
Rating: Summary: Just Great - Review: This is an excellent mouse, I just gotted and so far it works great. Its accurated, fast and best of all it doesn't use a mouse ball. the optical sensor works great on almost every surface. The shape is a little unconfortable, but I guess i just have to get use to it. The 5 buttons makes this product worth, it is just nice to have buttons on your mouse, to go forward and backwards while navigating, you can also program these buttons to do other things. I noticed something, though it happens very little but it does happens, sometimes the pointer just goes crazy and moves to different places when you move the mouse slow. Again this happens very little and for a couple of seconds only, this had happened to me only twice! I really recommend this product.
Rating: Summary: A purchase I would repeat. Review: I liked my trackball intellimouse because of its comfortable shape and the scrolling wheel, but I disliked the junk that gathered inside the mouse around the trackball mechanisms. I bought this mouse solely for the optical tracking - no more junk to fish out of my mouse! At first the shape was a little uncomfortable, but after an hour my hand was used to it, and by the next day I'd forgotten what my old mouse felt like. The optical tracking works well and collects no dust or grime. The unexpected bonuses for me were the side navigation buttons. I've left the default settings and use them (with my thumb and "ring" finger) to navigate forwards and backwards in my browsers (both Explorer and Netscape). Unlike a reviewer below, I have no troubles with the buttons and don't accidentally hit any of them. After a day or two, my fingers (and thumb) instinctively and correctly clicked the buttons that I wanted. I have no problems with the styling or colouring, understated perhaps, but not ugly. The underside and end of the mouse glow red, though not too brightly. The software lets you customize all four keys plus the wheel. This mouse does work equally well with a left or a right hand. I would happily buy this product again, or give it to someone as a gift.
Rating: Summary: excellent product Review: I just bought the intellimouse optical a few hours ago and I already love it! It's great for use with a laptop, especially on the bed. Feels great in either hand, and the programmable side buttons save a lot of time in IE. I love this product so much I'm considering buying every computer user I know one for christmas. The only problem was that I had to download new drivers for Windows ME but that wasn't a big deal.
Rating: Summary: How.......Politically Correct....... Review: Okay. So it's better if you are left-handed and/or have smaller hands. If I was left-handed, I would not be happy with the release of this mouse. I would be angry at Microsoft for not making their Explorer in a left-handed variant. I hate the thumb button on each side - there is no hope of using the opposite side button, except with your ring finger or pinky (as I keep my middle finger on the wheel and ring on the right-click). Also, the thumb buttons are poorly positioned and very loose, and I found myself accidnetally depressing them at unwanted times (which, depending on how they are programed, can be VERY bad in a game). If you are left-handed, okay. If you are looking at this mouse instead of the Explorer because you have small hands, try the Logitech MouseMan Wheel Optical. At least that's blue. They freakin took away the keen grey finish from the explorer!
Rating: Summary: Brought me back to a mouse Review: Maybe it is the full size hand form -- you just rest your whole palm on top -- or just its good shaping, but after years of sore wrists, I'm back to using a mouse. My substitute had been the track balls and other alternative input devices but none seemed to match the mouse's easy of use. The 'optical' also eliminates the mouse pad (yes, no more gifts please) and the shuffling you have to often do in order to get traction. Very good product and none of the wrist cramping.
