Summary: A handy gadget
Review: This gadget works well and is easy to transport, because it is about the size of a Palm, in a small zippered case. The keyboard gives the impression of being a little fragile, but has withstood rough placement on uneven surfaces. It is difficult to switch back and forth from this to an ergonomic keyboard, but that's not the fault of the keyboard itself.

For taking long notes, this program plus software that synchs with your preferred word processing software on your "mothership" (for example, WordSmith or Documents to Go) can make you a true road warrior.

Summary: This is a must for Very Active users of Palm Handhelds
Review: If you write a lot while on the road, because of your job or simply because you are a writer or an insatiable observer of inner or outer worlds, this is a wonderful piece of hardware. It is beautifully designed, superbly engineered and totally practical. A perfect marriage of form and function. And you know what? If you carry a laptop computer mostly for writing, you can easily leave it home and carry just your Palm and this charmingly attractive keyboard. Talk about impressing those who happen to notice you're typing. By the way, it is very "discreet." Who would think you are writing the next chapter of your novel while from the distance it looks like you're just tapping your fingers on a table? You will like it!

Summary: Absolutely superb!
Review: I always thought that it was as small as my palm like they mentionned, but, no, it's huge! Unfold it, and impress everybody in the room! The keys on it are larger than regular keyboards, but I wonder why they say that it's full size when it's actually BIGGER.

What you find in the box : -A manual in different laguages(it was odd when I first opened the box and saw a thick manual, some papers, and a cd in another plastic wrapping). -The keyboard in a cheap case.

The body feels kinda solid when folded, but it's fragile unfolded. It's easy to break in half the parts and the keys are held by two pieces of plastic. I recommend NOT to type on your lap very hard or it will break.

Pros : -Wonderful when you don't have a laptop with you! When you have a busy schedule and time is flying by, grap your palm and keyboard and go! Laptops are still wonderful, but the expensive batteries die quickly and you have to wait for it to start!

-It's the best way to enter text quickly without making many mistakes. Graffiti is good if you have small text to write or you're on the go, but did you calculate how many words you write in a minute when you have a full page to write? Or did you count the number of mistakes you make?

-More shortcuts are always good!

-The size of this thing is tiny. It's still bigger than a Palm and even heavier, but could you find better?

-It unfolds in a second and it's ready to be used in another 2 or 3 seconds. That fast? Yep, you might find it odd at first, but you'll master it! Just slide the button, unfold, slide the pieces of the keyboard into one, retract the sync, retract the cheap palm-holder from beneath, and then plug it in, plug it in!

Cons : -The price hurt a lot to my budget so I have to hold back my Mp3 player watch. 2/3's of the palm m100's price is disapointing...

-It's easy to break when you don't pay attention. Don't drop it, fold it the wrong side, drop liquids on it, no food, children are gonna destroy it, and don't eat it. Don't think that it's super duper solid because yoou paid a hundred bucks for it, it's mostly made in plastic!

-Nothing much to complain about, just don't break it. Crazy glue if you have to but no soldering! And also typing hard on it is nor recommended unless you won a thousand of them.

If you're not sure of buying it, you can take my advise : "If you need it, buy it". This is the best sentence that can make you save some money from buying junk. Also the only weird thing in the box is the cd. The good stuff in it are the 27k .prc program that you MUST install on your palm in order to use the keyboard, the manual, Acrobat Reader 4.0(I think), and some unimportant files. The total is... around 6 megs. Why could they put the program and the manual in a disk and leave a link to download the recent Acrobat Reader? My pics of it are soon gonna be availabe if you ask me... Good luck!

Summary: Best Accessory you can buy for a palm
Review: These days with all the travel and meetings I have to attend, I've become a minimalist in what I carry. First I went from a 7.5 lb notebook computer to a 4lb ultralight with a huge screen. That was a good step.

But even better was the day I bought this keyboard. Now I go to meetings with nothing but what I got in my pockets - a small writing pad, a pen, my Palm Vx, and this keyboard. The only time I'm starving for the ultralight notebook is when I have to give demos.

The Palm V/VX folding keyboard is about the same quality as the highest-rated notebook keyboards - those found on IBM thinkpads. The tactile feel is good, and there's enough travel to satisfy most users. It is a full sized keyboard, going by current day notebook standards. Once you load the driver, it works with every palm app (at least everyone I've ever tried). It doesn't draw too much power off the Palm Vx battery, and I've used it in sessions for 3, 4 hours without any complaints.

One complaint I do have is one that many have - why they didn't put in some sort of sliding, locking mechanism to keep the opened keyboard from folding in the middle, I don't know. But I'm rarely in a situation where I have this thing on my lap - almost always have a flat surface to use it on.

If you purchase this, consider your next purchase to be WordSmith, a wordprocessing program for the Palm OS. I've tried them all, Docs to Go, QuickWord, etc etc, and all seemed to really lag behind my typing speed. Memopad is limited to 4k, which is only a few paragraphs' worth of text, so for serious writing, you need a word processor program, and Wordsmith is the best I've tried so far.

Summary: Simply Amazing
Review: I stopped using my Palm about a year ago... yet another gadget fallen from the limelight. I didn't think I was going to use it again until one day at an office meeting someone pulled out and unfolded this keyboard, plugged it into their Palm, and proceeded to take notes during the entire meeting.

Yes, I may be a gadget geek, but I *simply* had to have one! Now, I bring my Palm and keyboard into customer meetings while everyone else is fumbling with their laptops. Everyone stares and is amazed at how cool it looks as I unfold the keyboard - and I can type out notes just as quickly as they can (it is a *regular* size keyboard!). At the end of the meeting, I fold it up quickly and am ready to go. I later hotsync the Palm with my PC and vioala! My notes are now on my PC where they're actually needed! My Palm is cool and useful again!

Summary: Would be nice if the keys worked
Review: I don't know if the keyboard I bought had been used before (the packaging looked a little suspect) but when I used this product, it was always a guessing game as to which key would not be working - sometimes one or two sometimes 10 or 12. I really, really like the concept; I think that it increases the usability of the Palm 100% since you can keep it open on your desk and enter stuff very quickly. I hesitate to talk badly about anything Palm since I've had one for 5 years and don't go anywhere without it. Suffice to say that I was very disapointed.

Summary: Great Product!
Review: I recently purchased the Palm Portable Keyboard and have not regreted it one bit! It is so small when folded in and a full size keyboard when not. The only disadvantage with it is that you have to type on a flat surface, or your palm will fall off or it will sag in the middle. I compared the PPK to the GoType! keyboard and I found that i prefered the PPK but the GoType! is a very good product. It is also a lot less expenseive then the PPK. But besides that, no complaints what so ever!

Summary: Nice
Review: This is a nice little gadget. It folds and unfolds well, feels like a laptop keyboard, and has some nice function keys. One drawback is that it feels a bit "flimsy" - you do need a hard surface to set it on when it's unfolded. Also, my Tab key does not work - I'd advise you to check the thing carefully before buying it. Aside from that, it's a great little gadget. I am a freelance translator/editor, and until I got this thing, I thought I needed a laptop. Now I don't.

Summary: Leave the laptop at home
Review: I use this keyboard for times when I have a lot of text entry to do. When graffiti is too slow, the keyboard meets all of my needs for school and writing. The keyboard housing is metal and is very sturdy when folded up and snapped shut. When open, though, you have to be a bit more careful because the keys are plastic. I have had the unit for about a half a year and it still works great, even though it has been floating around in my backpack. IF YOU ORDER ONE, BE SURE TO UPGRADE THE KEYBOARD DRIVER, WHICH CAN BE FOUND ON THE PALM SITE.

I wish the neoprene case had room for the keyboard AND the Palm. I also wish that the short cut commands were printed in the manual instead of in the help file on the Palm. With more Palm software programs supporting keyboard commands, you can leave the laptop at home.

Summary: 007 Eat Your Heart Out
Review: Not only does this thing get heads turning and eyes popping out...it serves its purpose 100%. I recently took it on a business trip...fits in my leather briefcase W/ all my books and palm...(not near as bulky as a laptop). I was able to take notes then Hot Sync into outlook when I got back to the office. A few minutes later I had put the finishing touches on my summary report...absolutely flawless. A must have for Palm users looking to eek out every use.
