Summary: i find it useful
Review: i have had my palm for a bit, but it has only recently managed to weasel it's way into my daily life. this keyboard has been one of the reasons why.

i can't speak for other keyboards, but this one seems fairly easy to use. i'd describe myself as a medium to heavy user. i type fairly fast - about 70 wpm - and this keyboard has been able to keep up with no problems. there doesn't seem to be a noticeable drain on battery life and i haven't had any of the other negative experiences that other users have mentioned.

one fear that i had that hasn't shown up is whether the size of the keyboard would be too small. i haven't noticed a slow down in speed.

the one drawback is that it's continued my reliance on keyboard entry for data and, as a result, i haven't fully mastered grafitti yet. one the other had, having the keyboard has allozed me to fully utilize the palm for heavy data entry when using databases. a big plus in making sure that i have lists in my palm.

Summary: Keys don't work; Support doesn't exist.
Review: I've had my keyboard for about four months. At first, it was a pleasure to use and I had no complaints. But it soon developed a problem. The "a", "q" and "2" keys started working intermittently. They soon stopped working at all, and now the problem is spreading to the surrounding keys. I've called Palm support a couple of times trying to get it fixed, and the responses ranged from, you need to update the driver, to the keyboard is dirty to, yeah, other people have had problems with it, too. I asked if I could send it in for repair, and they said, sure, IF I sent it in the ORIGINAL PACKAGING with the ORIGINAL RECEIPT. The reciept I have; the original packaging I don't. Sorry, they said, then we can't fix it for you.

Summary: A great product
Review: Recently I got the Palm keyboard for my m100, so I could use it at school. So far it has been holding up great (and I've had it far about 2 months), even though some people have said that it is poorly built. I am used to typing on my computer, and it is wonderful for taking notes and writing stories at my school. Overall, I think this is a very nice product.

Summary: Cute Keyboard
Review: I bought this keyboard for writing a document on a flight I was taking. Pretty handy, but I have to say that the Palm is not the best platform for doing any hardcore writing. If you are not keen on lugging your laptop around, the palm and keyboard are a decent compromise. Like many other reviewers, I find that the keyboard is a little flimsy, and I would like to be able to use it on my lap. Neat little accessory though. Got a lot of looks when I opened it up.

Summary: Head-to-head comparison with the LandWare GoType keyboard
Review: If you are considering this ultra-cool folding keyboard, you are probably comparing it with the sturdy GoType keyboard (made by LandWare).

So, which is better?

Well, before I compare the two, let me point out that this Palm Portable keyboard is really an eye-opener. People are always impressed when they see how it unfolds. And the silver-colored case makes it look sharp and classy. But, rather than just having something cool to look at, I'm guessing you are buying the keyboard to be used. So, onto the comparison...

I purchased both of these keyboards at the same time and while it was a close call, I think the Palm Portable Keyboard loses out to the LandWare keyboard. Here's why. Basically, there are two criteria that I found to be important: 1) can I touch-type on it and 2) how sturdy is it.

1) Touch-typing: This Palm Portable keyboard is full-size, so it's easy to touch-type on. It seems like it should have an edge on the smaller LandWare keyboard, right?

Well, while the LandWare is a bit small, I found that it's easy to touch-type on. Granted, my hands are a bit smaller than average (6.75 inches from wrist to fingertip), but it was plenty comforable. Between the two, this was a tie.

2) Sturdiness: Here's where I think the Palm Portable loses. I find that the Palm Portable's design feels flimsier and more fragile. Also, the split bottom loses its shape when you are typing on uneven surfaces (like your lap).

In addition, this folding keyboard has quickly showed signs of wear. The case has a dent, the folding latches don't seem to catch correctly, and the part that connects to the Palm is made of some thin plastic part of which has broken off.

So, I think that if I were to choose one keyboard, I'd get the LandWare GoType keyboard (sorry Palm!). It seems like it's built to be used, rather than built just because it looks cool.

But if cool is your thing, and you're willing to deal with some quirks, then the Palm Portable Keyboard is a decent buy. It's very neat how it folds up into such a compact case!

Feel free to email me with any questions.

Summary: Type Away
Review: After I got my Palm m100, I was extremely bored of tapping on the on-screen keyboard or trying to write quickly but get those Grafitti strokes just right. My birthday comes, and so, my grandparents get me this. It was cool!!! Without this I would never have known what I was missing. Just unfold and type away! I was a bit disappointed though with the fact that the keyboard used a little too much power, but it's okay with me because I have rechargable batteries for my Palm. This is an extremely great product, ...I suggest you click "Add to Cart".

Summary: A great product that can change how you work
Review: This is one of the only devices I own that has really changed the way I go about my day. Neither my cell phone, nor my Franklin Planner, nor my Palm V alone (which replaced my Franklin Planner) has had this kind of impact. The design is a marvel: compact, elegant, and solid. They keyboard has an excellent responsive feel, better than many desktop keyboards. The shortcuts are intuitive and work with all the standard Palm software and all of the third party software I own (in particular, Info Select). This accessory empowers the Palm V so completely that it should be tried by every Palm owner.

I purchased this product in an attempt to buy productivity. For once, it worked. I can hardly believe that I used to carry my laptop to meetings in order to take *notes*.

Summary: The coolest thing you can get for your Palm!
Review: Although I pride myself on being a quick graffiti writer, let's face it, there's no way I can actually write paragraphs and reports using graffiti! When I saw someone on the plane recently with one of these, I thought it's too good to be true. But being the gadget freak that I am, as I'm sure most people who own a PDA accessory are, I ordered it anyway.

I just received it today and I am blown away. The design of this thing is nearly perfect! I say nearly only because you need to have a flat surface (not your lap) to use it. It seems to me that this is something that can be easily fixed in the 2nd generation. Also, so far the battery is holding up really well. The map software I have uses up more battery than using the keyboard.

Regarding the previous review, there is actually a DONE key on the keyboard. You just overlooked it. I don't connect my palm to a cellphone so I didn't have the same problem with lack of connections.

For my purpose, which is basically the problem with entering huge amount of data and not bringing my laptop with me, this is the best solution. And as bonus, Amazon definitely has the lowest price so far and I received it in two days regular shipping!

Summary: Great Gadgets
Review: I love this keyboard. It is the coolest thing I have ever seen in the world. I wish I had one for a palm pilot. Heck, I wish I HAD a palm pilot. I think it is a great idea to make the keyboard. It makes it easier to type and put in messages and is easy to transport and gets to be so small, that it's not a hassle. It's esay to use and keeps everything organized. My Dad has one that his work gave him and he loves it because it keeps everything nice and organized. Thanks again for making this product

Review: I love this folding keyboard!!!! It allows me to be able to feel like I'm at home typing on my computer. I also love the fact that it can fold up in the shape of a W and be put away in its carrying case. I reccomend this keyboard to people of all ages that don't like messing with itty-bitty keys on mini-computers.
