Summary: Excellent product
Review: I use this mouse on my Laptop computer (Dell Inspirion 8000, Pentium III 700MHz), usually on my couch in the family room and also on our deck. The optics work just fine on the arm of our couch (fabric material), and on our deck table.

I'm running Windows Me, and using the USB connection. Installation was a breeze - just plug and play. I didn't even have to load the supplied software. The wheel works well, and the pointing precision is quite good.

Summary: Good Product
Review: I use this mouse with the PS/2 port, as my USB is taken up by a joystick. The mouse is responsive, but pointer movement is not perfectly smooth. I prefer this version to a mechanical ball. It performs equally well with or without a mouse pad, which may be good news for desktop space-saving fanatics. Optical technology is the way to go.

Summary: Optical mouse and a wood grain desk
Review: I was hoping to eliminate the mouse pad on my desk to free up some space and also improve the performance and accuracy of my mouse. Oh well. My desk is wood grain and the mouse works poorly over the wood grain. I have no problems if I lay down a piece of paper but that defeats my purpose of eliminating the mouse pad. Also, I found (as many others have) that the mouse performance through the USB port is not as good as continuing to use the PS-2 port.

Summary: Works as advertised
Review: I'm giving this one a tentative four stars...as long as it doesn't behave like its poorly designed cousin after 6 months.

For those who haven't heard, Microsoft came clean on their support page, that yes, early versions of Intellimouse Explorer (not the model I'm reviewing) will begin to act flaky after a while. Specifically, single-clicks will begin to register as double-clicks.

Therefore, I recommend sticking with this less snazzy model which, while lacking those cool extra buttons for web-browsing, retains all the precision and convenience of an optical mouse.

Summary: Great Product/Great Price
Review: If you need a new mouse, this is the one to get, it's fast, reliable, and even has a scroll for convience purposes. The price is perfect too, you don't need to go out and buy the more expensive ones when you can get a great product right here on Amazon.com for a great price. So if your looking for the perfect optical scroll mouse, Microsoft has a great one for you!

Summary: A great mouse
Review: The Intellimouse Explorer was a little large to use with my desktop computer since I use a wrist rest (although the Explorer worked great with my laptop). The optics are nice. It is highly accurate plus there's no cleaning.

Note that I've connected the mouse through the USB to PS2 adapter.

Summary: Good mouse at a reasonable price
Review: The Wheel Mouse Optical by Microsoft fits the hand well and comes at a reasonable price. And it has that cool red glow everybody loves. It's a good tool for basic operations and office work, but I wouldn't recommend it for use in computer games that require a high level of precision. The mouse does not work flawless all the time. Sometimes the cursor starts to move hectically around the screen, although you did not touch the mouse at all. But most of the time it works better than a mechanical mouse, of course, no matter what surface it is used on.

It's enough for everyday use, but the overall performance could be better. But I guess in that case it would be much more expensive. So if you're looking for a plain two-button optical wheel mouse, this is for you.

Summary: best mouse i've ever had
Review: this is bar far the best mouse i've ever had. i haven't had one problem with it and best of all, no ball!

Summary: Great mouse
Review: This is by far the best mouse I've ever used. I have one at work and one at home. It glides smoothly on just about any surface but if you want the best control and feel use a mouse pad. The only caveat is you can't use it on a mirror or clear glass surface. That's not a problem for me and I'll never go back to the old ball mouse.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best mouse of all time.
Review: This is the best mouse I have ever used, it moves smoothly, works with my USB ports, works on both my PC and Mac, works really good without a mouse pad or a one level everywhere area to put it on, but best of all, you don't have to clean it.
I've had mine for a few months now, and the most I've had to do to clean it was, nothing! :)
