Summary: Battery Eater
Review: Glad to hear I am not the only one who should buy stock in Duracell. Just wanted to echo the other reviews in that this mouse goes through three AA batteries every two weeks (but the keyboard can go for months??) If anyone ever does hear of a fix from Intel please post. In the mean time I am thinking of getting an optical wireless anyway.

Summary: The mouse is a LOSER!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I cannot express how disgusted I am with Intel for putting out such a rotten item. The base station works fine, and the keyboard is great with batteries, but the mouse is a whole different story.
The mouse eats 3 AAA batteries EVERY TWO weeks! This is getting expensive. I called Intel and told them that this seems to be a "defective" mouse, as the keyboard only needs batteries every few months or so. The tech told me that they have problems with the mouse not going into "sleep mode" and that is why the batteries go down so soon.
The answer? PUT A TOWEL OVER THE MOUSE WHEN NOT IN USE!!!!!!!!
Okay, so now I do this and the mouse went down again in two weeks. THEY ALSO SAY NOT TO USE RECHARGEABLES WITH THESE PRODUCTS.

BEFORE YOU BUY THIS PRODUCT, FIGURE OUT THE COST OF AAA'S AT A RATE OF 6 PER MONTH.

Summary: Pathetic battery life
Review: I have been using the wireless base and mouse for just over a month now and should have read the reviews before I bought it. I have had to replace the three AAA batteries on average of once every eight days or so. I actually started keeping track because I thought I was going crazy with replacing them so often.

The last two times, I have used Duracell Ultras, which cost more because they are supposed to be longer-lasting, but again it's flashing low battery on the 9th day they've been in, and from experience, they will be dead by morning.

During the last two times with new batteries, I have been placing the mouse in a container to prevent the minimal lighting that comes from my desktop power strip from keeping the mouse active (which according to the reviews does not allow the mouse to conserve its power), but this has made no positive difference.

When the batteries are strong, it works well although the large surface area of it took some getting used to. It dies very quickly once the "batt low" on the base station flashes and becomes unbelievably difficult to maneuver, forcing you to replace the batteries.

Save yourself some money and frustration and try out the Logitech cordless mouse. During the year I used that one, I never once had any conflicts and replaced the batteries only once.

Review: I only have a couple of beefs with this unit. I purchased the intel wireless series components initially thinking i was going to use them on a w98 system. after the purchase, a version of w2000 professional became available so i set up my new system with w2000 rather then w98. unfortunately the devices are not oficially supported under w2000. i was able to download beta drivers for w2000 and they work but they are limited in thier functionality. for example the keys for the media player or cd player on the keyboard do not work. other features found in the software for w98 are not available in w2000. so this is my first beef, no w2000 full featured driver and software set. second issue is that the mouse has a problem which intel has no fix for. it goes through batteries very quickly. about a set of 3 batteries every 1.5 to 2 weeks. i have discussed this with intel tech support and they have explained to me that there is a problem with the component that puts the mouse into power down mode (to save batteries when not in use) that is not working properly and they currently have no fix for this. now i dont know if that is all the mice in the field or just some. with these two problems i decided to return the entire wireless series (keyborad, mouse, gamepad). if you have w2000 i would not recommend these devices. also, if you do not want to change your batteries all the time do not buy this either.

Summary: Look Mom No Wires!
Review: I was looking for a setup that would allow me to surf the web with out be attached to my desk. Looked at several wireless keyboards and went with the Intel for 2 reasons. 1) It uses RF so there is not line of sight issues (that is you don't have to have the keyboard pointed at the IR reciever like a remote to a tv). 2) The system is expandable with up to 8 wireless devices!

Easy to setup and works well.

Summary: It Works!
Review: If you have your PC hooked up to a TV this is a great add-on. I can easily control the whole thing from the sofa. Or even if you just want a less cluttered desk. I can move it all aside and have a lot of space for doing homework or projects. As for the mouse, a set of batteries will only last a few weeks, but I bought a set of rechargable batteries and never worry about it. I also bought two game controllers. If you have the mouse and keyboard go ahead and get the controllers. The programmable buttons on the keyboard are an especially nice touch and I love the colors. I am so glad to get rid of the wires on my desk.
