Summary: Best Add-on for a Computer Made
Review: I think I bought the first one sold here in Orlando, Florida, and I cannot say enough about this mouse. It worked perfectly from the installation onward, is a boon to freedom at the desk, and of anything I have added to my computers in twenty-five years, has been the single best addition I have made. No cords, mouse anywhere, and live happily ever after. It does use more batteries than I anticipated, but I bought rechargeables from Radio Shack, keep a set charging, and whenever it gets low, I replace them. You cannot complain about every detail about an excellent product without indicating you are spoiled! I cannot recommend this product highly enough! And I do not have stock in the company. Maybe I should! They are going to own the market with this product.

Summary: This is the ultimate pointing device
Review: No cord! No ball! -- This is the best mouse ever made. Ddsn's review covers almost everything, so I really don't have to elaborate any more.

It is also great to have the USB option for a cordless mouse. The thumb button has been improved over previous versions of the MouseMan. Don't worry about battery life (BTW, it comes with batteries), the optical sensor has different modes of blinking to save it. I have used so many types of pointing devices (regular mice, cordless mice, trackballs, optical mice, touchpads) and find this to be the best. And thank goodness this mouse has a scroll wheel, because I can't stand a mouse without it.

If your thinking about a new mouse, you can't go wrong with this one. It may be a bit expensive, but it has a five year warranty and it's worth every penny.

Summary: Logitech never fails
Review: Logitech has yet to dissapoint me in the quality of their products. This mouse finally frees you of the cord that always resists your movements. It's a bit heavier than other mice mainly because of the batteries needed in the mouse, but it's definitely worth the extra weight to be free of the cord. The mouse is much more sturdy than the microsoft optical mice, and more comfortable in the hand. This is an excellent mouse for gamers because I haven't notice it skip when the mouse is moved rapidly like other optical mice tend to do. This mouse is THE mouse to get. I would also recommend the Logitech cordless itouch keyboard to round out the cordless desktop.

Summary: Cordless Mouse performs flawlessly
Review: I had to justify spending $70.00 on a mouse. I had never used a cordless/optical mouse. But I went out on a limb and have been VERY pleasantly surprised by my investment of the Logitech Cordless Mouseman Optical mouse.

If you are like I am, I like to keep a clean desktop. The fact that I have reduced my 'wiredness' by one cable has made all the difference. One less umbilical cord to dictate my movement while sitting at my computer.

This mouse is intuitively designed and Logitech continues to place ergonomics and quality of design as it's priority. Pleasing to the hand AND eye, a nicely weighted mouse sends a digital signal to a small receiver. This receiver can be tucked away out of sight [mine resides in the bottom of my CD/media tower approx. 38" away from the mouse]. The beauty of this digital signal is that your mouse does not have to be in a 'line of sight' to communicate. I have blocked the receiver with a coffee cup and did not experience any problem.

Another great point about this particular cordless mouse is that since it uses an optical light on the bottom [instead of a rubber ball] there is no need for a mouse pad! And there are no moving parts to have to clean. The mouse is powered by two [2] double AA batteries. The receiver can either plug into your PC's USP port, or the PS/2 port [it comes with an adapter.]

MAC users will be happy to get rid of Apple's round, flat mouse and use this MAC compatible device.

There are four configurable mouse buttons. The standard right and left, a center scroll wheel [which scrolls very smoothly and has a comfortable soft rubber feel], and a thumb button. One of the observations I first had is you can pick up the mouse without inadvertantly pressing a button...especially the thumb button which tends to be too big on some models.

Logitech ships this mouse with a CD rom with an easy install wizard allowing you to configure and 'fine tune' your mouse to your specific needs and touch. One important feature is an on-screen menu program [in the shape of a circle - like the wheel on Wheel of Fortune] that you can assign to any mouse button. This allows you a 'one-click' shortcut to standard web features like the Back Button, Refresh, Favorites/Bookmarks, Email, and frequently accessed sites. I have it configured to pop-up when I depress the mouse wheel.

I would have to say that the ability to sit in my chair, place the mouse on the desk directly in front of me, or on the arm of the chair, or even on my pant leg[!] is very refreshing. It takes some getting used to especially for us old timers, but being able to remove your mouse from your workspace (or put it in a drawer when you're done) is both novel and practical.

This device is compatible with the following systems: Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows 98 / 95, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 3.1, and Mac OS 8.6 or later

Hope this helps you get a feel for this item. Check it out, I have been very pleased!

Summary: Logitech has revolutionized the pointing device.
Review: This mouse is the first of a new era; I'd be willing to bet that in 5 years, cordless optical devices will be the standard for new computer systems. At least three other hardware manufacturers- including Microsoft- are suddenly scrambling to catch up with Logitech's cordless optical mouse.

And no wonder! The performance of this device is simply AMAZING. With 800 DPI resolution, it's twice as precise as most other optical mice, and the difference in accuracy is immediately apparent. A high-resolution mouse is a real boon to anybody, but it's especially vital to graphic artists, web designers, or gamers. The response and sensitivity of the Cordless Mouseman Optical is incredible; I couldn't imagine going back to my old mouse.

This is the first cordless mouse I've ever owned. I really didn't think that a cordless would make a big difference. I was wrong- I simply had never realized how limiting a corded mouse is. Although the documentation says the mouse should be placed within 6 feet of the receiver, I've found it works reliably out to a good 10 or 12 feet- I suddenly have freedom to move. The fact that I no longer have an unsightly cord snaking back to the computer from the mouse is icing on the cake.

The mouse does require batteries, of course, but Logitech thoughtfully includes a pair in the box. Thanks to smart power conservation, you'll only need to replace the batteries every six weeks or so. (I personally use NiMH rechargeables.) A word of warning: As with any mouse, one size may not fit all. This is definitely a right-hand mouse, so if you prefer to use your left hand, you may be out of luck until a left-hand model is released. I thought the shape and button placement were perfect, and I didn't find the mouse to be too heavy or too large (I have fairly small hands myself), but your comfort zone may differ. "Try before you buy" is a smart consumer's watchword.

Once you become accustomed to this mouse, ordinary mice really do start to seem rather primitive. Even my mother, a devout technology-hater, wants one for her computer. If you only buy one upgrade for your computer this year, it should be a Cordless Mouseman Optical.

Summary: No support.
Review: I'm having trouble with my mouse. I loved and used it for three years. Great device. The thing drains batteries though. I upgraded the software from the logitech website and it would recognize it as a regular two button mouse. Finding help was a pain. No response from the site. Great Support Logitech!

Summary: Great mouse
Review: This thing really goes through batteries. Even when not in use, the red light inside still glows slightly, indicating that the batteries are slowly being drained.
Removing batteries after each us prolongs battery life, but it's a pain in the .... Otherwise, using regularly requires frequent battery replacements.
It's a good mouse in all other respects, but I'd much rather have the corded version. ( Are all cordless mice battery hungry? If not, which ones are most battery efficient? )

Summary: Better than Microsoft's, but still lacking
Review: Side by side (I have both at my desk right now) this mouse is hands down better than the wireless intellimouse explorer. HOWEVER, it does lose its mind once in awhile and jump across the screen. 1 month is about all you can expect the batteries to last. Big-handed people will find this thing a little small. The slope of the mouse puts your wrist and forearm at a funky angle.
However, compared to the MS mouse...it (1) is not nearly as heavy (2)is better balanced (3) slides easier...which makes delicate pointing tasks easier (4) exhbits FAR less hysterisis (5) wakes up faster.
One thing you will notice with almost all of the optical mice is their tendency to sleep on you as soon as you stop moving them. That fraction of a second that it takes them to wake up is enough to cause a "jump". I have yet to find a wireless optical mouse that does well for fine-positioning work found in graphic design tasks.
