Summary: Nice looking, but...
Review: I regret the money I spent in this mouse. Yes, it does have some nice features, but the performance is poor, moreover in high memory-consuming applications, like games. The performance is jerky, and the worst is the scrolling wheel, that is simply uncontrollable. I am replacing a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer (corded) and there is simply no comparison.

Summary: LOVE this mouse!
Review: I've been using computers for over 20 years and this is the first mouse I would, without hesitation, recommend. I've used 'ball'-type mice, trackpads, the pointing stick on laptops, corded and other cordless mice and this one meets my every expectation. It's not too light/cheap feeling, it glides quietly on my desk, and the charging cradle is a great convenience. Made for right-handed people, though. I'm not sure if they have a lefty version.

Summary: Best mouse I've ever had
Review: I have to say, this is by far the best mouse I've ever used. It's the first cordless mouse I've had, and I never realized how much nicer it is not to have that darn cord in the way all the time! I never realized how much of an inconvenience it was.

I was worried at first that I would constantly have to charge the mouse, and that if I forgot to stick it on the cradle at night it would be dead in the morning. So far, hasn't happened! I am really bad about forgetting to put it in the cradle too, but it stays charged for a LONG time.

As far as performance, it is just as good - if not better - than any mouse I've ever tried before. The size is just perfect for my hands, the buttons are all perfectly situated. I haven't used the side buttons much, but I constantly right/left click and use the roller. I highly recommend it to anyone, I just bought one for my fiance for his birthday - plan on giving them as gifts whenever possible! Really, it's a fantastic mouse - well worth the cost!

Summary: Takes a little getting used to if you're used to other mice
Review: This is a great mouse. However, the movement and the weight are probably different than what you're used to if you're not already using a product similar to this one. I had a corded Microsoft 4-button mouse before this and it took a day or two with this before I really felt comfortable with it. Now I'm really starting to appreciate it but at first I wasn't sure and I had to do some tinkering with the settings. And this is the best wheel on a mouse I've ever seen or experienced.

The mouse feels like quality in your hand and overall I just have to give this a positive review.

One other wierd thing about this is it keeps freezing onscreen when I attempt to use my Canon i320 printer (printing from IE in Windows 2000). I received quick response from Logitech about this but still haven't fixed that little snafu. So there may be some potential conflicts with this--I probably won't know the extent of all that for a few weeks though. But my Microsoft mouse was conflicting and crashing with WinAmp and this mouse doesn't do that--so perhaps mouse conflicts are just par for the course in 2000--who knows..

Summary: The mouse of all mice!
Review: I did a lot of shopping and research before buying a new mouse, decided on the MX700 and I am not disappointed. I had a cordless mouse before (HP brand) that was TERRIBLE, mainly because the batteries were always going dead. Finally, one that can sit in a charger! I bought it for my home PC and liked it so much I bought another one for the office. It is a little on the large side, but my four year old uses the one at home with no problems. He even uses it with his left hand and manages okay, but it is designed for only right hand use. Can't go wrong with this one.

Summary: Logitech installation program froze my computer - BEWARE!
Review: I have Windows XP, but the installation program for the MX700 froze my computer. After hours on the phone with techs, they told me the only way this mouse would work on my computer would be if I didn't install the features the extra buttons provide. It would be tempting to just return it to the store, but I do like the fact that it's cordless and has a rechargeable base. That's why I'm giving it two stars instead of one.

Summary: If you are in need of the power mouse- here it is!
Review: Logitech has once again done it! They have created the perfect mouse for true power users. This mouse is simply the best purchase of any peripheral I have made this year.

The install was beyond easy, once I attached the device the system found and installed the software. The software is more than just a drive it has a Desktop Messenger included to help and aide you.

The device and software ran on Windows 95, 98, 2000 and XP without flaw or error. I found the mouse to have 8 highly configurable buttons and the fit is great.

The fact that is optical is great b ut now add to that the fact that is it re-chargeable and you have the perfect mouse with all the trimmings. If you in the market for a new mouse give Logitech a serious look - you won't be disappointed.

Summary: This mouse is superb!
Review: I know you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover but just look at this mouse. The Logitech MX700 has an awsome design not to mention that it fits perfectly in your right hand. This has to be the coolest mouse I have ever owned. The next great feature is the docking station. You can just recharge the battery instead of spending a bunch of money on AAAs. I am the type of person who will play computer games all day long. I was afraid my mouse battery was going to go dead half way through my gaming sessions but I have had my mouse for over two months and not once has the battery died while I had it in use. One time the red LED came on indicating the battery was low. I popped it on the docking station took a much needed bathroom break and got a bite to eat. 15-20 mins later when I sat back down it was fully charged and ready to go for another eight hours of gaming. I would say that the distance you can use the mouse is about six feet from the docking station as long as you don't place the docking station to close to your computer case or monitor. I only have a 15 inch LCD screen so I can't even sit that far away without binoculars to read my computer screen. The plug and play worked flawlessly for my windows 2000 pro with the latest service pack installed. I think I have yet to install the software for my mouse and I have no problem using all of my extra button features.
My breakdown:
Weight: The mouse doesn't have any noticable weight difference from a wired mouse.

comfort: The most comfortable mouse I have used but if you are a lefty I would make sure you get one fitted for your left hand.

Look: MX700 looks like a next generation mouse perfect for modded cases.

Battery life: Battery will keep going and going and going... as long as you remember to recharge it once an awhile on your downtime. Fast recharge approx. 15 mins. Red LED for low battery indicator.

Distance: For 90% of its users it will reach farther than is practical. No messy cord to get in the way of your mousing.

Compadibility: Haven't run into any trouble in my three months of gaming. It was an easy plug and play install as well.

It is perfect for anybody. There is only one thing that could go wrong. Since it runs on batteries you have to remember to charge it when you get done using it. If you are like me you will forget atleast every once and awhile. The mouse's battery isn't drained when you leave it on your desk for extened periods of time. I tried leaving it off the charging station to see how much juice gets drained when you forget about it. As far as I can tell it uses none or very little juice when not it use. I think the optical light turns off when you don't move it but I haven't set up an experiment to test that yet. I have my regular USB mouse still hooked up to my computer for those rare occasions where I forget about recharging my logitech and its red LED comes on after I have been using it for a little bit. You could also get another battery for your logitech and then you will always have a wireless mouse ready to go. GET THIS MOUSE IT IS WONDERFUL! You can't beat it!

Summary: The first cordless mouse that got it all right
Review: I have tried numerous cordless mouses over the years. Logitech is the first company to produce a cordless mouse that "got it right." The MX700 is that mouse.

(1) Battery life is not an issue at all. I routinely work for several hours straight, constantly clicking and moving the mouse. A full charge lasts for many hours of non-stop use.
(2) You don't have to swap batteries! At the end of the day, you just plop the mouse in the charging cradle (which is, conveniently, also the wireless base station). This is a HUGE benefit. By contrast, the Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer was a battery hog that sucked down rechargeable AA batteries at an alarming rate - with that mouse I had to contend with manually swapping and recharging batteries every couple of days.
(3) Recharging is very fast. Even when the mouse does run out of juice, placing it in the charging station for a mere 5 or 6 minutes is enough for it to run another hour or more. It seems to fully recharge in minutes, not hours.
(4) Optical means no hassles with cleaning dirty rollers, removing mouse balls, etc.
(5) Accuracy and responsiveness are excellent. Better, in fact, than any WIRED mouse I have ever owned. Even for hardcore gaming, this mouse is second to none - there are no worries about competitors who use wired mouses having an edge.
(6) I found the design to be quite comfortable. It is, however, a RIGHT-HANDER-ONLY mouse, so if you're a leftie look elsewhere.
(7) The extra buttons are handy. The Logitech Mouseware software is easy to configure.

If you are considering a cordless mouse that does NOT include a charging cradle like the MX700, do yourself a huge favor and rethink your plans. Unless you've had to contend with it before, you probably don't realize just how much of a nuisance it is to constantly have to pop open your mouse, pry out the batteries, stick them in a separate recharger, swap in the previously recharged second set, etc. This feature ALONE is enough to rank the MX700 way ahead of lesser mouse designs like the Intellimouse. And when you add to that the superior accuracy, you've got a true winner.

Summary: Excellent mouse but... not for fast action games.
Review: First of all I have to say I hate cords or any kind of clutter around my desk, so wireless sounded like a good idea. 3 months ago I tried the MICROSOFT wireless intellimouse, while very comfortable and ergonomic, the pointer/cursor was choppy and slow to respond, thats when I read about the MX700, didnt care about the price (pricey in my opinion) and went ahead and bought it. Although it has a fine and fast response like a corded mouse, the weight of the mouse + 2 AAs (rechargeable) made the mouse extremely heavy if you are used to very light mice, for me it didnt work, I play Medal of Honor very often, specially online, and the idea of having no cords was something I wanted for so long, but the weight of mouse made the game difficult to play when you need fast hand and wrist action to pick up the mouse and change direction, I think Logitech is on the right path, and soon enough I ll have what I am looking for, this one went back to the store for a full refund.... bummer
