Summary: Costly, but the best allways are!
Review: I have been searching for a new mouse for a few weeks now. I based my decision on the user reviews here which have been very accurate, especialy when you read between the lines. The Microsoft mice were luring me in with the red GLOW bottom, but I am extremely pleased with my choice based on user reviews, and functions, of the Logitech MX-700. EIGHT function buttons! Wow! I am used to the old three button MS wheel mouse, and still find myself using the back, and forward icon in Explorer instead of the conveniently placed buttons on this fantastic mouse. It will take some getting used to, but those buttons make surfing much easier, that is when you remember to use them. I havn't found the scrolling buttons of much use, but you can remap them to numerous other functions which I will do shortly. The quick Switch button at the far rear on the top, pops up a seperate small window that has all currently loaded programs listed. Clicking any of these takes you to that application. Unlike some mice, the eight buttons on this mouse never get in the way. They are extremely well placed so hitting one on accident is not likely, yet you do not need to search them out either. Very easy to use. For those of you that have concerns about the pointer jumping around because previous experiences with wireless technology proved this to be a fact of life, have no fear! This mouse works flawlessly. I had real concerns because the last Logitech wireless mouse, as well as two other brands I used, were basicaly worthless. The pointer would jump around, and accurate control was impossible, but this is going back 6-7 years. I decided it was time to give wireless another go, and I am exceedingly happy with the performance of the MX-700. I am running Windows XP Pro, using the USB connection. I plugged the unit into the wall to charge the mouse, then loaded the Logitech software, then at the one and a half hour point the mouse was fully charged. I pluged the USB connector into the back of my computer and rebooted. everything went fine except the software didn't have the asignment of buttons screen. I went to Logitechs site, dowloaded the latest software, and now have the ability to program the buttons. Excellent, Excellent, Excellent. Now I am waiting for my Logitech Elite keyboard. You can now buy the MX-700 with the Elite Keyboard wireless as a package for the same price as the Elite duo, ..., but I still have reservations about wireless keyboards so I will stick with the wired for now. ... This is an addition to my original review. I have now had the mouse for over three months, and can unequivocally stand behind what I stated above. I have read some concerns regarding the weight of the mouse, and buttons that have become stuck. I can state for myself that the mouse is performing as it did right out of the package. No stuck buttons, no problems whatsoever. The comment by some that the mouse is too heavy may put a few potential buyers off. I am 6 ft tall, and have fairly large hands, and the mouse is absolutely perfect for me. I do not find it heavy at all, and in fact prefer the weight of this mouse over a more delicate one. I am a computer potato as opposed to a couch potato, and spend no less than 8 hours a day on the computer which has never resulted in hand cramps etc. caused by this mouse. If you have any concerns, make sure you buy from a reputable source like Amazon, and you will have no trouble exchanging the mouse should you not care for it. This is an excellent mouse, don't hesitate to try one out.

Summary: A good mouse
Review: I like the logitech MX700 but like any other product it had a few things that could have been improved. The biggest was the price. it is better than when it had just been released, but it is still quite pricey. Also, the right mouse button occasionallyl gets stuck. The forward and back buttons, however, are very useful.

Summary: Best Cordless Mouse to Date (5-16-2003)
Review: I bought this mouse as a replacement for my aging Intellimouse Explorer (version 1!). Needless to say, it hasn't disappointed.The MX700 has a quicker optical sensor than any other optical mouse for sale today (save the MX500), which gives it excellent tracking precision. Like all other cordless mice, it uses batteries, however, unlike all other cordless mice, it comes with a dock. Low on charge? Just pop it in the dock for 2 hours. Batteries last about a week with extended use, not sure how long with "normal" use. If this is too short, switching to some Energizer NiMH AA's will give you about double the runtime (while still being able to charge it in the dock). There are a couple things to get used to with this mouse, though:
1. It is designed for smaller hands than any Intellimouse Explorer is.
2. It will initially feel heavy, due to the extra weight imposed by the batteries. The extra buttons seem superfluous, but are useful, and can be remapped to keys if you're the gamer type. The scroll wheel is typical Logitech, with a very crisp turning action. All in all, a very worthwhile purchase!

Summary: Rock Solid
Review: I had a problem with my first one and had to get a replacement, but it was after I switched batteries and it could never get connected to the base again. But if you leave it alone it works like a gem. It's a bit heavy in the hand, but not uncomfortable unless you play games for hours on end without a break. I absolutely LOVE the scroll down/up buttons. I haven't even installed the Logitech software that allows you to personlize the mouse and I'm positive that makes this even better. A very positive 5 Stars.

Summary: Well executed design, but too heavy
Review: I used to think the mark of a good mouse was a heavy, solid-feeling mouse. For me, this mouse is too heavy. In my opinion, it just takes a little too much effort to move the mouse across the desk. I tried using a mouse pad, and that helped somewhat, but part of the beauty of an optical mouse is that a mouse pad is not a necessity. I know most people have good things to say about this mouse, I'm just really picky about something I use day in and day out.

Summary: The MX700....not for hardcore gamers.
Review: I was recently in need of a new mouse as my Logitech optical mouse that I've had forever finally gave out on me. So I figured I'd upgrade to a wireless optical mouse and since I loved my old Logitech I went for the MX700. Here's the reasons to not buy it:
-Too heavy. This thing will work your wrist to death.
-The wheel just doesn't feel responsive. I use the term "mushy"
-Spyware with a mouse? Do they have no shame?
-Not for First Person Shooters.
-If going from wire mouse to cordless for the 1st time, there is
a steep learning curve here.
-Can kill a person if throw with enough force. =D Here's the reasons to buy it:
-Ergonomically designed & comfy
-Lets face it, this thing is pretty.
-Good responsiveness (once you get used to the weight)
-The recharging base was a brilliant idea.
-No need to recharge it every 3 hours. All in all the Logitech MX700 is ok for light users and people who just browse the internet or play solitare, but if you are in the market for a good hardcore gaming mouse look elsewhere. Hardcore gamer rating: 2.5 stars

Summary: Good, but not good enough
Review: Let me start out by saying I LOVE Logitech products. I have 3 of their cordless keyboards and 4 of their cordless mice, with my last two mice being the Optical Cordless and the MX700 I really like the feel of both these mice. My major concern is with the drivers that Logitech supplies. Regardless of what version of drivers I download, I always need to click on the mouse icon (in the task bar) to get the mouse the to work correctly. Now that I've switched from Windows 2000 Advanced Server to XP Pro, the Logitech drivers return's an error on every boot. While I really like the Logitech products, I'm seriously considering trying a Microsoft cordless optical mouse.

Review: Just received my Logitech MX700 today.... The accuracy and speed of the Logitech is unlike anything I have ever experienced in a mouse, period. As a graphic designer, it has improved my workflow immensely (due to its speed and the extended button functions as well). Logitech, you now have a new fan!

Summary: The only cordless mouse out there worth buying
Review: I bought and returned many cordless mice, until I finally decided to spend the money on this one. Every other cordless mouse I bought had serious lag problems, to the point where I could not stand to use them. This was before I even tried to play a game with them, it was just trying to navigate the desktop. Then I bought a MX700, and while it was expensive it was one of the best purchases that I have ever made. The shape of the mouse is very comfortable, and the performance is just as good if not better than any corded mouse that I have ever used. I have only 2 minor complaints with the mouse, first automatic scroll buttons on the top are useless for 2 reasons. One they do the same exact thing by default as the scroll wheel, and two they are hard for me to reach. Second, the software is not that good. I came from having a Microsoft mouse and the Microsoft software is much better. The selection of what you can map the buttons too is somewhat limited. For instance I wanted to be able to map the automatic scroll buttons to control Winamp, but they are not able to control media players. Over all the mouse is a very good product, and I would recommend it to anyone.
