Summary: With Pro's and Cons
Review: Well, I've been using this one for about a month now and it's definitely growing on me.Here's the Pro's: 1. Wireless, no cords catching on anything no distance restrictions. 2. Good looking 3. Easy to set up, just plug it in and it works, installing the software is another issue I'll address in a second. 4. NIMH Batteries with a reciever/recharger, the power lasts forever, and simply placing the mouse in the reciever to recharge is a great idea. 5. Semi-customizable buttons may add diversity for some users (I haven't found it very useful with the applications I use.) The Cons: 1. NOT FOR BIG HANDS!! The ergonomic design is, from what I can tell, aimed at people with small to medium sized hands. I however am 6'5" and have extra large hands that do not fit the ergonomics of this mouse at all, it was actually very uncomfortable at first, but I've slowly gotten used to it. 2. Glitchy control in some applications. From what I've read this issue has to do more with Logitechs software than with the mouse. I use a lot of Adobe and Macromedia products for Graphic and Web design and this mouse just doesn't seem to want to work well with any of them. Left clicking while holding short cut keys has lead to all kinds of strange and annoying results. (to many to list) 3. Limited programming, with my previous mouse (Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer) I had the option of programming each button to activate just about any command I could think of, with any key combination I could want, which made my shortcuts in design applications a breeze, that mouse would also change the button functions depending on which program I had open.
The Logitech is very limited in the options that can be tagged to a button and they are also global, meaning they have the same function in all programs no matter what.
Not a big con for most but it stands out for me as a designer. 4. Bad and intrusive software. While installing this software I was asked if I wanted to install Wild Tangent software, which I have found is connected to Gator Corp software (a spyware/adware service, basically a program that notifies it's owners when ever you click on a site that sells something so that they can pop up ads with similar products at their leisure on your computer) not cool!
After opting out of those two the Logitech software still installed Logitechs Adware application Logitech Desktop on my PC, and with it a couple of executables that caused numerous problems and hogged up my PC resources, this culprit came up in my task manager with the mysterious lable BackWeb-884760.exe (can't remeber the exact numbers). However after uninstalling the Logitech Desktop software all of my problems were solved. So all in all a great mouse for people with average sized hands, yet sporting some bad software issues, for people with the money I would recommend having a look at the Microsoft opticle wireless first, compare the two for yourself and then make a decision.

Summary: I really, really wanted to like this mouse...
Review: Being really sensitive to the ugliness of any kind of computer cables, I bought the MX700 wireless mouse from Logitech mostly based on its cordless design and its many buttons. As much as i really wanted to like this mouse (I really do hate cables) I ended up being frustrated once too many with the iffyness of the wireless signal connection. I simply could not find any practical spot on my desk that wasn't far enough from any EM influence. Moreover, if the base was more than 10 or 12" away from the mouse the connection became erratic. When it worked it was beautiful. When it didn't I wanted to throw it out the window! In the end I decided to send it back, and ordered, reluctantly, its corded brethen the MX500. Boy what a difference a simple cord make! I have been using this mouse for about 3 weeks now and i still get impressed and elated by the feeling of extreme precision and "confident authority" this mouse gives me whenever I use it. Indeed, I have even grown to LOVE its cable! This is how good this mouse is. Everything I liked about the MX700 is in the MX500, without the frustration. The buttons are where I expect to find them with just the right amount of resistance to them. The mouse feels just right in the palm of my hand. Its weight is an improvement over the slightly too heavy MX700. Its mouse software is simple, effective and extremely flexible. The optical design virtually never needs cleaning. The only "negative" I might point to, and a very subjective one at that, is that the MX700 silver accent was a perfect match for my Dual G5. The MX500 silver is more smokey grey than silver (Yes, we Mac users, really are that picky with the esthetics of our tools ; ) All in all, I cannot recommend this mouse (the MX500, not the MX700) enough. It is quite simply the very best mouse I have ever used, and certainly the only mouse I have ever felt that passionate about.

Summary: The best mouse i ever used
Review: I have had this mouse for a year and recently something spilled on my desk and i had to replace it. i was considering a new mouse just to change my style. but i couldnt find anything that compared to this mouse. the multi functions to this mouse are very nifty. when browsing web sites or even folders on your computer it makes everything more with ease. has a forward and backward button to change pages. option of a scroll wheel or two up and down buttons also has a cruise control feature wich allows you to just press the button and move your mouse around the whole page. and the fact that this mouse is recharge and wireless and optical. just makes it the best.. and has a base station..

Summary: Feature rich, but too bulky
Review: Having finally decided to ditch my standard Mac mouse (which is nicely designed but sorely lacking a scroll wheel and second button) I decided to give the MX700 a go. It is, in many ways, a great mouse. I needn't add to the good points that everyone else has listed - basically this mouse has it all. However, it is, IMO, too large and too heavy. After using it for half a day I had to stop working because I had a cramp in my hand. I have small hands and this may be the reason it didn't work for me. I suspect you need to have a specific hand size for this mouse to be comfortable. As I said it is also very heavy for a mouse. I can't imagine using this for extended periods could be very good for you. I would also add that the optical sensor is not much better than most other good-quality optical mouses (despite what logitech seems to claim). It does not even begin to compare to the sony sphere mouse I'm now using in terms of speed and accuracy. Conclusion: it is a good mouse and, I think, worth the money, but only if it fits your hand.

Summary: Many people don't notice the error in the manual
Review: I see a lot of reviews talking about the need to have 20 inches of space away from electronic devices for the base. Don't be scared. The manual is wrong. It's actually only 8 inches - 20 centimeters. The in/cm values are switched in the illustration. I'm surprised so few people noticed this error since 8cm would be a whole lot less than 20 inches. Other than that, I fully agree with most of the reviews. This is a fantastic mouse - great fit, great response, and I even prefer the weight of it over my old Intellimouse Explorer. The only problems I've had have been with the MouseWare drivers. Even version 9.75 (available from Logitech's website) didn't fix the use of the middle mouse button in Mozilla 1.2.1 for launching new tabs. It just absolutely would not work unless I uninstalled MouseWare altogether. So, until that's fixed, I'm going without their additional features (and losing the functionality of a few buttons with it).

Review: It is that simple people. BUY THIS MOUSE. Amazon has the best deal going - especially with the rebate. You can't go wrong, and will NOT be sorry. I have been holding out for about 6 months, trying to find a cordless, optical mouse that delivers the performance I was looking for, and at the same time, offer a stylish and QUALITY look and feel. Logitech scores 5 stars in both categories.
Setup was simple on my Dell Dimension with Win XP Pro. Each and every button works like it should, and thanks to another reviewer's idea, I assigned the Quick Switch button to 'Close Program'. It works like a dream!
You can assign one of a LONG list of functions to any button (yes, you die-hard thumb double-clickers will love this).
The movement is 100% precise, and I have experienced zero lag, drag, quiver, or ANYTHING. I even put the base right next to the computer itself, and I have no interference.
You will be overjoyed with the pleasure and ease of use this mouse offers up. Congratulations to Logitech for delivering a superior product and crushing the competition on looks, style, functionality and performance.

Summary: This is a great product!
Review: I couldn't believe it when my husband came home with a cordless mouse. Nothing I have ever bought that was cordless ever worked well and I couldn't imagine this one being anything but trouble. Well, I was wrong. It is a great product. It stays charged for days one end- so much so that I forget it's cordless- then a blinking light reminds me to rest in on the charger. Even then I can use it for hours more. It sits perfectly on its charger and charges very quickly. It moves well, scrolls beautifully and no mouse pad is needed. You will have to take a fingernail to the bottom of it every few days as it picks up whatever grime is on your desk's surface, but that is a two second procedure. I highly recommend it.

Summary: The perfect cordless mouse is here!
Review: This is the first cordless mouse I've bought. After doing a lot of research and reading the reviews I decided to buy this one. I wasn't disappointed. Here's why: 1. Ease of installation and use: It was a breeze to install and use. The software configuration utility that comes with it is excellent. It tells you when the battery is running low. 2. Charging system: The mouse came with two rechargeable batteries and a charging stand. The batteries last upto 18 hrs of use before they need to be recharged and usually recharge in a couple of hours. This mouse is not a battery guzzler. 3. Functionality and ergonomics: The scrolling is fast, smooth, and accurate. I have had no problems with any kind of signal interference. The shape is comfortable and I love the back/forward buttons. 4. Looks: The metallic on silver design perfectly complements my Viewsonic VA720 silver flat panel. The styling is modern, yet elegant. MY RECOMMENDATION: This mouse is well worth the money. You won't regret buying this peripheral for your computer. Go ahead and pamper yourself.

Summary: Nice mouse if a little pricey
Review: I've only had this mouse for a couple of days but thus far I'm pretty impressed. This mouse is replacing Logitech's dual optical which replaced the cordless Optical Mouseman Wheel. I replaced my first cordless mouse because it ate up batteries at a very high rate (I was lucky if I could get more then a month before tracking became erratic telling me it was time to change batteries), though some of the blame could be placed on my black mouse pad. The MX700 seems every bit as fast and accurate as the dual optical mouse it is replacing. If you use OSX, don't be concerned that the drivers that come with the mouse are only for 8.6-9.2. Without installing any drivers, all buttons work exactly as they should (even the program switcher). About the only thing I don't like about it at this time is the power connector. The power cord plugs into the back of the USB plug instead of the back of the base/charger. This makes for an unusually long USB plug. If you have a Mac and plug it in to your keyboard it will protrude a good inch past the side edge of your keyboard. If you plug it into the back of the computer it will protrude a good 3 inches and if you have a PC and want to use the P2/S port you can add another inch to that with the P2/S adapter. That means you'll need about 4" clearance space in the back of the computer. Even though it would have added one more cord to the base, I would rather plug it to the base then the USB plug. While it is not a cheap mouse, both the mouse itself and the charging stand/base seem to be well constructed. For me the jury is still out for the button placement. Instead of the thumb button on the bottom of the mouse, there are two buttons on the upper left side of the mouse (back and forward buttons for web surfing-and they also work fine in OSX). Maybe I'll get used to their position in time. Also, unfortunately, with this mouse, southpaws need not apply, but I guess they're used to that. As I've only had it a couple of days, I can't comment on the battery life per charge, but I expect it will only be a few days. Still, I prefer that to having to buy new batteries every month as I did with my previous cordless mouse.

Summary: This is the way technology is supposed to work...
Review: This mouse works with Autocad, Microsoft's new mouse with useless 'tilt wheel' does not. The Logitech works with my KVM switch, allowing me to use the one mouse - keyboard - monitor setup across two computers. Without even loading the Logitech drivers, all features of the mouse work without a single hitch. If only all electronic products were as good as this one.
