Rating: Summary: Not up to Apple standards Review: I'm an avid Mac user and Apple advocate but I have to say I was disappointed with this product. Apple is known for its superb engineering and exceptional user experience but this keyboard does not meet their normally high standards. After the first couple of days of use the keyboard would intermitently loose its connection with the computer. Typing anything of length became very frustrating as the keyboard would stop functioning mid-stream. Eventually the keyboard ceased to work at all and I took it in to the Apple store for a replacement. The replacement keyboard did not work either and after reading Apple's disscussion boards and not finding a solution I gave up and went back to wired. Even if the keyboard had been fully functional, there is still a big caveat with a wireless keyboard: it will not allow you to boot into "safe" mode or open firmware since Bluetooth loads at the end of the bootup process. Getting rid of the wires on your desktop is a nice concept. But if you want a wireless keyboard of any kind, even one that works properly, you still need to have a wired keyboard on hand as a backup.
Rating: Summary: Best Keyboard I've ever owned Review: The greatest compliment I can give this keyboard (or any wireless device) is that you won't be able to tell the difference between it and a wired keyboard. No lag, no signal fading in or out, no buttons missing or anything else. The shape and keys are identical to an Apple Pro Keyboard, great news because the tactile feel of the keys is to die for. Setup literally took 60 seconds. I got a signal as far as 30 feet -outside- my apartment, through a closed door and all kinds of walls. Gamers rejoice, there is no lag of any kind. Draw-backs for this keyboard: You will have to change the batteries every 3-4 months, but at least OS X notifies you in advance when to change them. This keyboard doesn't have USB ports, so you'll have to plug your mouse into the computer or get a wireless mouse. If you are the average user who leaves his/her keyboard in front of your monitor and don't really mind your keyboard wire among all the other clutter of your desk, then this keyboard might be overkill for you. The wireless capacities are strong, but you can only really use it as far away as you can read your screen.
Rating: Summary: Very impressive product. Review: This keyboard is everything I had hoped for and more. It works without any delay, unlike my Logitech wireless trackball (there were no bluetooth trackballs at the time of purchase). Ease of setup was like any other Apple product...plug and play. One word of caution: turn off the keyboard even when not using for ten minutes and the batteries will last much longer. The keyboard came with some of the best batteries available........Energizer eTitanium. Apple did not have to do that, but they rarely skimp when it comes to quality. I should have also gone with the bluetooth Apple mouse.
Rating: Summary: Sleek, stylish, and works with both Windows 2000 and XP Review: This keyboard is great! Setup is a breeze for use with Windows 2000 or XP. No software update is required to use the keyboard. Here are the steps I used to get it to work.
1. Purchase a D-Link BT-120 Bluetooth adapter.
2. Install the D-Link Bluetooth software.
3. Put batteries in the keyboard, then turn it on.
4. Run the D-Link software to initiate pairing.
5. If the keyboard is not discovered during the search, turn the keyboard off-then on again. The software should find it.
6. Confirm the pairing using the passcode provided by the D-Link software. Enter the passcode using the wireless keyboard.
7. Enjoy!
I did not give the keyboard 5 stars becuase the volume and disc eject buttons don't work with Windows. I am currently looking for a way to program them. Other than the volume and eject buttons not working, I have found no faults with this beautiful keyboard.
Rating: Summary: Great Keyboard - Works with XP, and looks fantastic! Review: This keyboard looks fantastic - it's really stylish.
If you have a Mac, it works out the box. You can use it with a PC just fine (with a D-Link DBT-120 Bluetooth adaptor), but you need to first link the keyboard to a Mac to download an update.
If you're on a tight budget, this isn't for you. If you want a stylish computer, it's worth spending $69!
Dualit toasters, Le Cruset pans, Apple Keyboards - they cost quite a bit more, but are top quality, nice to use, reliable and look drop dead gorgeous!
Rating: Summary: Avoid the Mouse Review: When I first got this keyboard, I was very pleased. Functionally, I could tell no difference between using this keyboard and a wired one. However, after I used the keyboard for a couple of days, it suddenly stopped connecting to the Mac. I went into the Bluetooth preferences to work with the pairings, and nothing that I did re-established the connection -- every time I tried it, I got an "authentication failed" error. I followed all installation instructions, including upgrading the Bluetooth firmware before installing the keyboard. I also followed all standard troubleshooting procedures. The keyboard simply stopped working and refused to start again. I would assume that this is an unusual occurrence, based on so many other people being so much more enthusiastic about the keyboard, but for my own part, this keyboard goes back to Amazon, and I'm sticking with USB for the foreseeable future. Based on my experiences with this keyboard, and my similarly dismal experiences with the Apple Wireless Mouse, it does not appear to me that Bluetooth input devices are "ready for prime time".
