Summary: Weird keyboard
Review: "Home" "End" "Delete" "Pg Up" and "Pg Down" keys are in the wrong place. Until getting this keyboard, I never realized how much I used these 5 keys, particularly "Delete". Although I am getting use to the new placement, I must unlearn the placement ever time I use a different computer with a normal keyboard, such as at work. I really don't care which placement is better from an engineering standpoint. With keyboards, consistency is really important. Finally, I am finding I have to hit keys twice sometimes to get the keyboard to type. I have moved the receiver around with no improvement. I did not have this problem with my last cordless keyboard (logitech). Maybe that is a result of bum batteries (they come with the keyboard).

Summary: Wow. Is it really by MICROSOFT???
Review: ...I mean, this thing not only looks good, and feels good (the keys and ergonomics) but actually works really well (software is mostly flawless on my Win XP Pentium 4 machine)! Of all the peripherals I've ever invested in for my PC, this has to be one of the best---it's a pleasure to use, day in and day out.PROs: the programmable keys make Internet surfing a snap, the cordlessness (all of my previous keyboards were corded) allows for all kinds of flexibility in terms of the junkpile masquerading as my desk, and the signal quality is very reliable (granted, I haven't tried to test the range much beyond my desk or my lap). Absolutely love the scroll wheel on the keyboard, and the back/forward buttons above it---perfect for going through photo galleries. So much less wrist-strain on my mouse-arm. The key word is: liberation! CONs: pretty minor, really. A couple of the function keys have only limited programmability---but since there are a total of 25 of them, it doesn't really matter! Once in the while the software gets "stuck" so that when I hit any of the function keys that I've programmed to take to different websites, it only does so for the same one Explorer window. No way to tell if that's the keyboard software or the overall system software screwing up, though. All I can say is, if Microsoft could only make ALL of its products, namely its monopolistic software, at this quality level, then Bill Gates might actually deserve the gazillion dollars he makes every 30 seconds! ... there is however ONE persistent problem this keyboard's software has. When I have multiple Explorer windows open and I hit the function shortcut keys to take me to different websites, it often will get "stuck" in one window and change the web page for that window only. So I end up having to do it manually, going to my "Favorites" pull-down menus. Kind of annoying, but can't tell if it's the MS software or my computer's OS that's screwing up.

Summary: Close but no cigar
Review: A month ago my first wireless keyboard/mouse combo(4+ year old Logitech Cordless Elite Duo) started having problems - auto scrolling. It would just scroll on it's own - Up and Down. So I decided to check out the latest local offerings. I really liked the look and feel of the Microsoft unit. I also liked the idea of slider control and forward and back buttons. So I over paid and took one home. Setup was a breeze. The keyboard felt great. However the slider button didn't work on the mouse. It worked fine on the keyboard. So I read through the instruction manual, I noticed one thing - where's the warranty? Check the web site - where's the warranty? Google search says 1 to 3 years depending on the source. So I decide to call Logitech about my wayward mouse and find out if its still under its 5 YEAR warranty - yes till Jan 05. My new Logitech MX Elite DUO is in the mail free of charge. The Microsoft unit is going back for a refund. Does Microsoft think it can sell hardware like software with no warranty? Good luck to you buyers, its a great keyboard - I just don't know how long it will last and it appears Microsoft doesn't either.

Summary: One Great Wireless Mouse and Keyboard Duo!
Review: Deciding between the Microsoft Wireless Elite Keyboard and Mouse and the similiar offering by Logitech was difficult. I read multiple reviews on each and they were both so closely matched that the decision was hard to make. I ended up buying the Microsoft product based on some features (buttons) I found useful for myself as well as my own personal preference for the Microsoft mouse. I am really happy with my decision. The Microsoft Elite keyboard really looks great on the desktop - very upscale with its faux-leather wrist rest. I don't have any complaints with the performance of either the wireless mouse or the keyboard - in fact, I find them as responsive as my corded ones. The nice thing is that I don't have those cords crawling across my crowded desktop and I'm not always tugging at my mouse cord which had a tendency to get caught on things behind my desk. I highly recommend the Microsoft Wireless Optical Elite Keyboard and Mouse duo. I also recommend buying from amazon.com for the savings as many stores are selling the boxed set at nearly $100.00.

Summary: DONT buy this IF UR A GAMER
Review: dont buy this piece of junk its so bad when i play my games my the w button dosent work some times to move foward and i have to press it really hard the mouse it nice and all and i like the online and media buttons but is not goo for gaming i had a logtech mx 700 elite due and that was great and i really like that but the mouse broke so i had to throw it out well all and all this is a bad keyboard cant belive i wasted my money and it not very durable, so if u get angry when u play games dont get it because i baged on it and the flip up thing broke and now i have to return it and get a new one

Summary: Cross-Platform Perfection
Review: For those who know me, they know I'm a big MacOS guy so it was with some trepidation that when I decided to enable my home office with a Windows tower to accompany my Apple unit, with the help of a KVMP switch, that I went with a MS keyboard and mouse. I can tell you, however, this thing absolutely sings. The disk comes with all the necessary software for both WinXP and MacOS environments. You can easily program the hotkeys in either Operating System and when switching between via the Iogear KVMP switch, I have encountered absolutely no problems. All of this would make for an excellent wireless keyboard and mouse, but throw in the comfort of the "leather-like" padding on the keyboard and the soft feel of the bumpers on the mouse and you have accessory perfection.

Review: Happy with the product. Not a "quiet" keyboard by any means, but suitable for those that are not expecting one. Range at 6' is probably a stretch, but it works fine if the receiver is placed on the desk, rather than on the PC or on the floor. Big gripe: Ordered new, received previous customer return. Hmmm....

Summary: Totally Awesome!!!!
Review: I am former owner of the Logitech DiNovo, and it was junk. The Microsoft Elite is awesome. Some reviews say that there is no indecation of when num lock or caps lock is on, that is wrong, it tells you when you turn it on or off right on the screen. The keys are soft and incredibly quiet, the mouse feels great and the buttons are soft and quiet as well. All of the "hot keys" at the top of the keyboard work great, absolutely no complaints there. The scroll and back and forward buttons on the keyboard, at this time, seem kind of worthless, but they don't hurt anything being there. As far as installation, it could not have been simpler. I plugged everything in, booted up and I was up and running. Not the story at all with the Logitech DiNovo. The color choice of the keys, or lack there of is intersting. I was was not sure if I would like clear tinted keys, but you get used to them pretty quickly. Also, the location of the insert key and the enlongated delete key seem to be an interesting decision by Microsoft, but they are not a problem at all like I thought they would be. I give this product an A++++++

Summary: Wireless does not equal "farther than desk"
Review: I bought this keyboard after having a great experience with my previous roommate's Logitech Wireless keyboard as a controller for our living room PC/Media station. We could sit accross the room and control the PC on our big screen tv perfectly. I browsed around and ASSUMED incorrectly that most wireless that has been made recently should be the same. HUGE MISTAKE. This setup barely reaches farther than the advertised six feet which comes no where close to making it to my couch. So in essence i have a worthless 100$ keyboard that I bought with such haste that my new roommate threw out the box before I could test it. DO NOT BUY THIS if you need or want it to go anywhere actually off your desk. If i wanted something to stay on my desk id save the 50$ and buy a corded setup.

Summary: A Great Buy
Review: I did alot of research when I decided to go wireless because there are so many to choose from, it's often difficult to distinguish one from another.
I chose this Microsoft combo because it's very comfortable to use, doesnt interfere with my LCD screen or cordless phone, doesnt eat up batteries, is very durable, compatable with all versions of windows and any program which runs on windows (i.e. 99% of software)and looks great.
The only thing I can find wrong is that the mouse doesn't respond when in direct sunlight which you would find with any optical mouse.
All in all, if you want a nice looking, hard wearing wireless keyboard/mouse combo, this is the one to get :)
