Rating: Summary: Nice Eye Review: This is a great mouse for all Microsoft enthusiasts. Microsoft has done a wonderful job with this product, and through amazon.com it's extremely affordable. It truly does work on any surface, it's stable, and has a sleek look to it. Plus, it matches my gray desk (an added bonus), hehe :)
Rating: Summary: works great Review: I love this mouse. There are two buttons for your thumb - one works like a back button on your browser, the other works like a forward button. It makes surfing the net much easier - it's hard to ever go back. I like the wheel (which I use most for scrolling on the internet). It fits my hand well, also. I've found the optical sensor to work great. The only thing I would mention is that it seems to be built for right-handed people, and I don't think Microsoft makes a left-handed version. For left-handed people, the Intellimouse Optical might be better - it has one button on each side, instead of the two thumb buttons.
Rating: Summary: Great mouse, but not worth the money Review: In short, this is a great mouse. It feels good and moves very well. And with no moving parts you don't have to worry about this behavior fading. Having the wheel and extra buttons is also a plus since you can configure them to do just about anything. It is a bit bigger than older Microsoft mice I have used, but it easy to get used to.That said, I don't think it is worth the price. At most it is probably worth $30 or $40. The lack of a mouse ball and the extra buttons are cool and all but not worth the premium price. The good news for Linux users out there is that it appears to work just great under Linux. Using the PS/2 version of the mouse I was able to plug it in to my system (running RedHat), restart X and it worked great. I'd recommend picking up the imwheel utility to help configure the extra buttons. There are also some web sites out there that have information on how to make sure X is configured correctly.
Rating: Summary: Accurate and Comfortable Review: This is the best mouse I have ever used. It moves with liquid motion precision. It is large so you don't have to clench your hand around it, which makes it comfortable over long periods of use. I have not had problems with clicking the thumb buttons by accident, In fact, I have to think about it when I want to click the second thumb button on purpose. Microsft should put the second thumb button right under your thumb and simply increase the pressure required to click it. The first thumb button is in great position. Hint: use a mouse pad with lots of colors. My mouse pad is a Monet Painting which is perfect for the job. Big blocks of solid colors (avoid Picasso) will not give you the enjoyable experience you can have with this mouse. If you spend lots of time on your computer, this is a great investment.
Rating: Summary: Dependable but fragile finish Review: The IntelliMouse Explorer is well built in every respect (as one might expect in a Microsoft peripheral), but one. I have found that the silver finish on the standard mouse button begins to wear off within one month. I have contacted Microsoft about the blemish-surprise, no answer yet. For the high cost, it is a solid mouse, but it does appear worn in too short a time.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Mouse Review: I got this mouse a couple of days ago through Amazon. It is excellent. It is very accurate to your movement with the mouse. It has a neat feature for web viewers to use the two side buttons as a Back and Forward feature, there are also several other things the two side buttons can do like closing out programs( in stead of clicking the X each time). It is also very useful for scrolling down on website with it roller disk on the top. I would strongly reccomend anyone who wants to have a VERY EASY to use mouse with several helpful features to get this one.
Rating: Summary: This mouse is for you Review: I have never liked the alternatives for pointing and clicking in Windows. The MS Mouse tended to become unreliable for a variety of reasons (dirt, oils, general wear and tear), and prior to the 1st Intellimouse there were better alternatives in terms of other features. In fact, if you ever used one of the Logitech optical devices, then you had the pleasure of using a reliable and functional device. And you wondered why Microsdoft could not do the same. Well wonder no more, they did it. This is a solid product, it will be reliable as the optical movement technology has already been proven, and you need no other reasons to purchase it than your own bad experiences with other mice. Buy this today.
Rating: Summary: HUGE IMPROVEMENT over my old mouse Review: I bought this mouse to replace the circular "function-following-form" model that came with my Mac. The fussy work I had to do on Illustrator, Photoshop, and QuarkExpress made me want to tear my hair out with a circular mouse (if you aren't looking at it, you might not realize that it is facing the wrong way, and wonder why the cursor moves up when you want it to move down) that sticks and skips and has to be cleaned several times a week, not to mention the sharp pains shooting through my wrist from the lack of support. My old mouse also had only one button and a cord that was too short. The Intellimouse Explorer alleviated every single problem I had with my old mouse PLUS it came with extra features: a scroll bar, and 4 (programmable) buttons instead of one. If you get confused by gadgets with lots of buttons and functions, you can simply turn them off with the easy to use software that comes with it. The contoured shape feels really natural under my hand, but might not be so good for lefty's. I would reccommend this mouse as a wise investment to anyone who has even the least bit of annoyance with their sticky skippy mouse.
Rating: Summary: Great mouse, but mine broke. Read on... Review: I have been using this mouse since February 2000. It's a great mouse, consistent movement, ergonomically designed. The back and forward buttons for browsing are a boon! Unfortunately, it just broke last week. How does a mouse break, you ask? The cable connecting to the mouse has come loose, and causes the mouses to turn on and off (specifically, the laser at the bottom). I still give this product four stars because Microsoft support resolved the issue in around 5 minutes (total time on the phone) by shipping me a new one in three business days. I know a lot of people who use the Logitech optical mouse..., and they seem extremely happy, so you might just try that first since it's cheaper.
Rating: Summary: The best mouse in the world Review: My old mouse always got sticky inside, and you could barely click anything on the screen. Then you had to clean it, and it was fine for a couple of weeks or so, but then it got sticky again and you again had to clean it. With this mouse, you NEVER have to clean it! Its accuarcy is so much better then the non-optical mice, and it feels great too! If you're a gamer that uses the mouse for various commands, you can assign commands to the 4th and 5th buttons, so that you can do a lot more with your mouse. BUY IT!!!
