Rating: Summary: Who knew a mouse could rock my world? Review: Let's fact it...a mouse is a pretty utilitarian object. You figure if you've used one, how much different can another be? However, even after having read all of the, pardon the pun, "glowing", reviews here, I wasn't prepared for what a treat this mouse is to use. It just rocked my little world! For starters, installation was a breeze. It took all of 5 minutes and I was up and running. Once installed, the first thing that struck me was the smoothness of using this mouse. I never gave much thought to the "feel" of a mouse, until I used this one. It just glides across the desk. I found the difference to my old mouse not only perceptible, but striking. I was a bit concerned after having read some of the other reviews that commented on the size and the placement of the buttons. Some individuals noted it was large and found the button placement awkward. Personally, I like the larger size, it feels more substantive and therefore is more comfortable in my hand. As for the button placement, I just haven't found it to be an issue. They work just fine for me. The bottom line...I found it to be a great purchase. I'm about to buy a second one to use with my notebook!
Rating: Summary: Fancy package for revolutionary technology Review: I have had my Intellimouse Explorer since it first came out and it has never let me down. The feel is profession, the materials durable, the software very intuitive (configurable buttons), and USB is a near-flawless interface. But don't let the fancy package fool you...the real meat of this product is with the optical read technology. It allows for much smoother scrolling and feel, and in some cases even eliminates the need for a mouse pad - a true computer revolution! Whether you buy this mouse or one of the lower-priced optical models...you can't go wrong!
Rating: Summary: If you don't buy this mouse, you're an idiot. Review: Dear Ann Landers, Simply put, this is the best piece of equipment I've ever bought for my computer. Besides the hipnoticly mesmirizing red light, the optical technology proves amazing mousing. With my old wheel, I couldn't even draw a curved line, even after cleaning it multiple times, but this baby glides like a dream. Though it does not need a mouse pad, this felt so astonishing, I had to keep mine around for a few weeks, just to dull the amazement. It's hard to quit ball mousing cold-turkey! I hear a lot of fuss about the design and shape, but I think Microsoft could not have designed a more perfect mouse. It fits my hand beautifully, and I could not hope for a better mouse. Another issue people raise is the unwilling tappage of the thumb-buttons, but I have found that the perfect place for my thumb is right below these buttons. Not only does this position provide a perfect grip on the mouse, but avoids any unintentional pushage (Shut up. It's a word). Look at the picture, and you'll know what I'm talking about. The onle thing that aggrivated me when installing the software, is that the program did not recognize my mouse as the "explorer" variety, but when I switched from the PS/2 to the USB, it instantly recognized my mouse properly, and treated me to a hipnotic red glow. I have since married my Intellimouse Explorer, and we are living happily on my late uncles farm, where I sit at the computer night after night, in pure, hipnotic red bliss The End
Rating: Summary: I just love this mouse! I'm so glad I bought it! Review: Just recently I was visiting my Sister and she has a two button ball mouse. Using her computer I couldn't say how many times I missed my Intellimouse Explorer! I'm really glad that I bought this mouse! It even works great on my black melamine desktop! It is great to have a pointer that just glides across the screen too! I read the reviews I don't know how many times before deciding to buy it. The "back" and "forward" buttons are especially great when your "surfin' the web". Using the wheel to scroll pages is so much nicer than having to get that pointer to the right and using the scroll bar! The right button seems to be a bit touchy, something that could either be me or my unit, but I have gotten used to it. The raised shape does take a little getting used to but seems natural after a while. I didn't find it to be too large but my hand is rather long, 7.25" wrist to tip of longest finger. If you have a short hand you have to at least give it a try and give it some time! You could very well be surprised! The only negative thing I can say about it is that the "forward" button feels like it is too far forward. Bringing the "forward" button back just an eighth to a quarter of an inch would make it easier to use especially if your hands are small. I've compensated for that design flaw by steadying the Intellimouse on the right with my little finger and reaching forward with my thumb to the button. As others have said in their reviews, check out the "fit and feel" at a store but remember that this "humpback mouse" takes some getting used to. Buy it, I believe the good points definitely outweigh the bad and I don't think you'll be disapointed!
Rating: Summary: There's just nothing better. Review: I picked up an Intellimouse Explorer at Besy Buy as soon as they were released, after being hypnotized by the pure unbridled power of its eerie glow. Once I got past its cosmetic godliness, I discovered that it's actually quite a nice piece of equipment. No cleaning, no mousepad to slip off of, nice long cord to move the mouse from computer to coffee table for dvd viewing, a great control panel, and more features than you can shake a stick at. Actually, I'm pretty sure you could shake a stick at it, but there's a ton of features nonetheless. At first it seemed a little bigger than it should be, but once you readjust your grip, the extra buttons are actually in the perfect place. Overall, a great piece of equipment with a great set of features. The only way I can see this mouse being better is if it came with a free spider monkey.
Rating: Summary: I love this! Review: I loved this mouse from the first time I got it. It may be a little big, but you get used to it. With the other mouses I have used, they were all a little too small. When I used them, my wrist used to touch the mouse pad or table and I have spot that is callused up on the bone by my wrist. This is a little bigger and I don't have that problem. Also, this is a great mouse for gamers (I use this for Half-Life all the time and it's great). You have 2 buttons on the side, 2 on top, and a spin wheel that if you push it down, it is actually a fifth button. With no cleaning necessary because of the laser light and no mouse pad necessary, this mouse just glides. When surfing the net, you can use the wheel to scroll web pages with ease. This is the mouse for you if you want something that makes the little things in life a little easier. Enjoy.
Rating: Summary: Just... not right Review: I wanted to like this mouse, what with the cool red light, but I use a mouse all day, so comfort and accuracy are much more important, and on those scores, it really doesn't work that well. First off, some people think it is too big, but I find that I have to cramp my hand to hold it, and with sides that slope inward, there is no comfortable way to grasp it. OK you think, so I'll rest my hand on it and just slide it around. But no, if you do that, you'll find you're constantly pressing buttons (especially the right one) you never meant to. In the end, you find yourself trying to squeeze it and hovering your hand above it to avoid false clicks; all of which is very tiring. So, sadly, thumbs down from me. Back to Logitech MouseMan, which IMO is a much better "fit".
Rating: Summary: Perfect for those needing precision (with large hands) Review: I bought the Explorer because my Intellimouse was constantly impeding me from precisely moving the cursor. When you are doing 3D Modeling and graphic design work you need pinpoint accuracy, and the traditional mouse ball sticks on the rollers even after constant cleaning. I have been using the mouse for two months (with the USB port) and have had no problems under Windows2000 or Linux. I have tried many aftermarket trackballs and mice from before and this is the best I have ever used. The buttons are very responsive and contrary to some opinions I have heard, the mouse does not hinder computer games for lack of "twitch reaction." The scroll wheel provides just enough resistance to feel tactile and be easy to navigate with at the same time. Not a complaint really (because I don't use them often anyway), but the programmable buttons on the left side don't seem to work in any programs other than Internet Explorer. A pleasant thing I noticed after starting to use the mouse was the larger size. I have a very big hands and this mouse actually fits the curve, preventing sore joints and carpal tunnel.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME! Review: No more sticking roller balls! This is the best mouse by far that I have ever used. You don't need a mouse pad anymore, which helps save space in my cramped workstation!
Rating: Summary: Maybe Bill Gates isn't so bad...nah he still Review: I have had this mouse for over a month now and so far it is one of the greatest buys I have made for my pc. Gone are days of slow response and sticky dirty mouse balls. It is very responsive and you will not need a mouse pad ever again. No need to clean and the many buttons give you a lot of control. Just like when the track ball in the middle came out, the two web navigation buttons on this will become a MUST HAVE for all other computer mice (if that is the right term). It is a bit big, but I have big hands, I can see some people having trouble with the size. But investing this mouse if you are tired of your slow responding mouse.
