Summary: Does its job, to an extent.
Review: Yes, I'm one of the many people to own this mouse. I don't know if it was my own experience, and if it was a peculiar one at that, but after having owned two MS IntelliMouse Explorers, I'm not too satisfied.

Sure, they serve their purpose in pointing and clicking, but after a year, the first stopped working. So I bought another, because I liked the manliness of how huge the mouse was.

It was great. The navigation buttons were right at my thumb, and the red light made it possible for me to see in the dark (to an extent!).

But as I should have seen coming, after a year passed, it stopped working as it used to. It randomly stops responding, as another reviewer said, and this would get really annoying. I don't know how long the life expectancy is with these things, but I cannot see myself buying another one of these ever again.

Again, it may be my own personal bad experience with this mouse, but I do not recommend this mouse.

Summary: It randomly shuts off
Review: This mouse worked fine for the first few months that we had it. (It was maybe four months or so.) And I really like that it has five programmable buttons, and scrolling abilities. But, it randomly shuts off. And when it does, it makes it so that the keyboard (which is a different brand) no longer works as well. We then need to restart the computer, and cannot save any work that is currently on-screen. This is infinitely frustrating. The mouse gives no warning of when it is going to shut off, it may do so recently after the computer has been restarted, it may do so days after the computer has been restarted.

Summary: This one works....
Review: I owned one previously an out of no where it stopped working and Microsoft would not pay to replace it. But I decided to give them another chance, I have had this current one for about 8 months and theonly problem I have is the light will go off and it wills top working, simply remove the pads under the mouse, take the cover off and make sure the plug is securley in its slot, and problem solved. Since I realized how to fix the only problem I have run into with this mouse it is a great investment....if you are right handed.

Summary: INCREDIBLE! Well worth the money!
Review: I must say, I am very pleased with this mouse. I have had it for nearly a year now and I have never had any problem with it whatsoever. I have never had to clean it and I have never had to fix it. Most people say the mouse is big and bulky, however, I have really small hands and I think this mouse is more comfortable than any other mouse. I am also an avid gamer and the accuracy with this mouse is incredible. Even when you're not playing games, but you need the percision, it is great. I definately recommend this to anybody who wants to get a new mouse.

Summary: Try again Microsoft
Review: Let me start out to say I luckily received this mouse as a "freebie" at an MS event, as I would be steamed if I had spent money on it. The mouse only lasted about 3 weeks before mysteriously dying...it still lights up and all, but it no longer is recognized by the PC. In the short time it did function, here are my observations. The flaws are many, the first being the size. This mouse is HUGE. Unless you have hands the size of an NBA center, you will find it difficult to use. The wheel has a strange indistinct feel and I never got comfortable enough with the thumb buttons to find any practical use for them. The cute LED at the back stops getting cute after while and becomes plain annoying to look at. As for the optical sensing, the mouse acts erratically on many surfaces and its difficult to get precise positioning unless you are holding the mouse exactly straight. If its slightly diagonal the pointer often will jump in odd ways. I am now back to my Logitech wheelmouse and happier than ever.

Summary: Best mouse yet
Review: I tried the minimalistic cordless mice, but they're just not accurate enough for me. As an avid PC gamer, I demand the best mouse available. Of all the ones I've tried out, this one is the best. It's very comfortable (great for long sessions), and there are more than enough buttons to satisfy any gamer. It's best feature remains its accuracy, which has saved me on more than one occasion! Also, since it's optical, there's no more opening up your mouse to clean the trackers. I've had this mouse for over 6 months and haven't had a problem yet.

Summary: Best mouse on the market
Review: Ok, so that may be a bit extreme since I haven't reviewed nor used most of them, but this mouse is worth serious consideration.

I bought the intellimouse explorer mouse with my new computer earlier this year (January, its November now). For the first few weeks all seemed great as I settled in to using the additional buttons, and found that it did indeed improve my efficiency! It glides easily and freely, and I've yet to see a jump or skip and the mouse works darn near, if not actually, flawlessly. The thumb buttons are a great addition, and of course the roller feature is an added bonus in the day and age of long documents and web pages.

A warning ... at first this mouse did cause some repetitive use injuries to my mouse hand. In particular too much use of the roller feature. However, after taking a break and easing myself back into using this mouse its been great and I've been forced to upgrade my rating from 3 to 4 stars. The mouse is large, but it feels very comfortable in your hand. (I've got average sized hands and I don't have to stretch for anything, the roller ball, top buttons and side buttons are all right where they're supposed to be ... at my finger tips).

Summary: Should be standard equipment on every computer.
Review: I've used the Intellimouse on my Mac G4 for some time. I must say that it is one of the best productivity enhancers I have ever used. Going back to a computer without the Intellimouse seems like a step backwards.

Sometimes I am on the www for hours and the web page-forward/back buttons are very useful as is the scroll wheel. I hardly move my hand anymore. The ability to program the buttons differently for various applications is very easy to do and a great asset.

Overall this is a well thought-out product that works well.

NOTE: I have used a more recent (2002) version of this mouse on a PC and learned that (1) this mouse has fewer features on a PC than for the Mac; and (2) the forward/back thumb button is too small and too sensitive on the newer version.

Summary: This mouse rocks
Review: Get this mouse if it is in your budget.

Summary: Very good product ,but...
Review: I've been using this product for over a year now and is very good. Is responsive, very precise, and you don't have to clean the mouse anymore (great!). it also has an (almost) unlimited warranty . Mine got damaged and Microsoft replaced it, no questions asked. And this was in Venezuela, I bought it thru Amazon.

The only thing that I don't like about the product is that is a little bit to large and that the casing makes a weird noise when you squeze it a little bit... Aside from that is a very good mouse an you just can't beat that warranty !
