Summary: Awesome performance!!!
Review: The first time I purchased on of these mice was about a year ago. Since then, I have purchased approximately 70, one for every user on our network. The mouse tracks across the screen smoothly and without any jumps. You do not need a mouse pad except on highly reflective surfaces. The wheel is smooth to roll but stiff to click. This is exactly as it should be since the MS mouse is just the opposite, thereby causing a click instead of a roll. A few problems have been encountered on our laptops that also have a touch pad. This is a confusing issue because when we simply plugged in some of the mice, they worked until we installed the driver software, then they quit. On other occasions, it wouldn't work UNTIL we installed the drivers. These problems are encountered on similar machines and we have not seen any problems with desktop machines. One final problem, for no apparent reason and without warning, the cursor will disappear, and then reappear at the edge of the display. This appears to be simply a random annoyance as no data has been lost and it is not a frequent problem. Even though I have described the problems I have encountered, I still highly recommend this mouse due to the outstanding performance on desktop machines.

Summary: Economical and flawless
Review: This is an update of a previous and inaccurate review. I stated, with folly, that this Logitech wheel mouse exhibited erratic behavior. Indeed, the mouse pointer did run from one end of the screen to the other without being pushed in that direction. However, the cause of this had nothing to do with the mouse. It turns out that optical mice are sensitive to the surfaces they rest upon - and the mouse pad I had been using was reflective. This caused navigational problems with the mouse which were remedied by the utilization of a solid purple mouse pad. Following this replacement, the mouse has been, without exception, performing perfectly. I cannot recommend it highly enough. If you've been considering upgrading from a ball mouse to an optical mouse, don't hesitate. Ball mice have nothing on optical mice. Optical mice don't need cleaning, always run smoothly and typically last longer than ball mice. In my experience, if you are seeking a two button optical mouse with a wheel, this is your best bet. And remember, optical mice do not mix well with shiny and reflective surfaces.

Review: I've had trackball'd mice for years, and this is my first optical mouse. so this review is for people like me who wanted to switch to opticals. if you are looking, this is a very good choice. I've had mine for 8 months with no major problems. and I am someone who will return almost anything if I saw a slight scratch or blemish. so I am hard to please. I use this mouse for normal everyday use. I have one at home and sometimes unplug it and take it to work. so on average I have used this thing for about 4-6 hours per day. everyday for the last 8 months without any accuracy loss. Still precise as the day I bought the mouse. there is one screw so nothing really to come apart, or fall apart. And I used this thing for gaming which means ALOT of mouseclicks and after 8 months noticed the left button was not as sensitive, wehn clicking. the only thing I found was there are plastic components that hit each other inside (I opened mine up) and long story short there was a little dent where the left button was serverly used. :-) (of course this is my own doing). couple of drops of Krazy glue to fill the "dent" on the plastic piece and left button is as good as new. :-) besides this little problem (which I caused) the mouse if awesome.
(barely any dust inside the mouse after 8 months of use BTW) I have not tried other opticals, I also have read reviews on cordless and they seem fine, but for gaming cordless opticals are not sensitive to fast movements. if you are sick of cleaning mouse balls..and believe me I was. :-) get this mouse. I'm amazed how accurate this thing still is. oh, I have tried the mouse on white, black, wooden, glass(clear and refelctive) surfaces. shiny and matte. this mouse worked on ALL of these surfaces. cheers.

Summary: If you're in the market for a new mouse...
Review: ...don't look any further than the Logitech Wheel Mouse Optical. I've been using a first-generation Microsoft offering for awhile now, and not only is it already failing (after about eight months) but it tracked poorly even when it worked. As I'm sure you know, infrared mice don't perform well under high-speed conditions, making the early models horrible for first-person shooters (and a variety of other tasks), but Logitech's second-generation lasers have eradicated the problem COMPLETELY. I've been trying for a few days now, and I simply can't get my mouse pointer to jump around erratically, as was so common with the Microsoft mouse. It's rock steady. And, on top of that, it looks good and is cheap. In my opinion, there is no better mouse on the market today. Don't bother with cordless (poor refresh rates); don't bother with dual-laser (too expensive, with too little gain); don't bother with Microsoft (poor cursor tracking, laser leaking). Just stick with this mouse.

Summary: Good mouse
Review: I have used almost every kind of pointing device in existence: bus mice, serial mice, PS/2, optical, graphics pads, trackballs,... As a result, I have come to expect a moderate level of performance. I wanted to purchase a USB mouse to replace the horrible built-in stubby pointer on my Dell laptop. I was pleasantly surprised by this mouse. Red Hat Linux auto-detected and configured the mouse without any fuss. Even the wheel was configured correctly. Works well under Windows 2000 also. This mouse has two connectors: a USB connector and a PS/2 connector. Unlike the cheap optical mouse I bought a few months ago, this mouse doesn't have the annoying tendency to get confused or make the cursor dance at odd intervals. Recommended.

Summary: Great design. Extremely comfortable.
Review: I used to be a huge fan of MS Intellimouse (the old fashioned 2 button with wheel/button). This feels just as good, despite the fact that it doesnt look as ergonomic. The price is very reasonable. The wheel is MUCH more reliable than MSIntellimouse. It's faster and doesn't wear as quickly (I play a lot of video games and surf the net a lot -- that requires a lot of scrolling!) I've never had to clean it -- not once! And you gotta admit, that's one nice shade of blue! Very attractive. Standard USB connection with an adapter to fit into PS2. Note: Just because it's optical and you can pretty easily use it on any surface (i.e. your desk, a text book, or your knee) that doesn't mean you should. It picks up imperfections in the surface too...its better to use a mousepad, regardless of how crappy. I find it works best with the soft cloth top, not the plasticy ones.

Summary: Never disappointed me yet
Review: I bought this expecting never to have to clean muck from the trackball again, and I was not disappointed. Sleek looking and comfortable, the only mouse I'd trade this in for is probably its wireless brother. A must have for anyone who's tired of cleaning mice trackballs because it's interfering with your scrolling. Gamers will love it as well for its obvious accuracy superiority over a traditional mouse.

Summary: One for the road.
Review: I use the Logitech cordless optical at home, but needed something smaller for travel. This unit has all the functionality of their larger mice, with the added bonus of taking up less space. Optical technology in mice is about as stable as quartz technology in wristwatches; all the opticals I've tried have been superior to any of the old "rubber ball" mice of the 20th century. This one is no exception.

Summary: Just about as good as it gets
Review: These mice are simply wonderful. Comfortable in the hand and intuitive on the screen and usually cheaper than their Intel rivals. I've used my first one for a couple years now and when it came time to add another 'puter to the household I told the builder to either put one in the system or sell me the machine with no mouse at all and I'd get my own. He checked his inventory and, surprise surprise, he had some in stock (It's nice dealing with a local when building a machine). Unless you are going with a cordless mouse I can think of no other one to be using. And yes, Logitech does make a cordless mouse with no balls. ;-)

Summary: excellent mouse
Review: I really like this mouse. I've been using it for 2 months now and I don't have any problems whatsoever with it. The software that comes with it works fine. Mouse is reliable, easy and comfortable to use. This is my first optical mouse and I am really pleasantly surprised how smooth everything works compared to the classical ball-based mice. I think this is a very good mouse and I strongly recommend it (I am not affiliated with Logitech in any way).
